Lots of sillyness here about flood plains. All of the houses shown are at least 50 years and have never flooded until very recently. The only major housing development near the river and West of the bridge did not flood, despite almost 6 metres of water.
@ef74804 жыл бұрын
Philip Pankhurst - flood plains do not work like that. The flooding around the '50year' houses is because of building on flood plains a lot further up river. The flooding is just being shifted down river irrelevant of what is there where the actual flooding is.

@mc25944 жыл бұрын
the Country had an interconnected river system of named rivers long before named storms and ignored rivers, like the roads, rail and every other network it has to be constantly maintained. A river only floods if the water is trapped inland by the system failing to work, the water can't exit at the exits fast enough so backs up as it fills one river after another, culverts and drainage system infrastructure has been ignored for 40 years, the climate needs responding to at least on the basics of management of what we have, imagine how much debri a river carries downstream, ends up a big bathtub, sounds obvious but what can be seen - is the problem. The solution is how the rivers connect to the exit rivers and their exits which have become smaller over time rather than kept clear and or increased in size as required. Doesn't help standing around with a TV Camera talking bollocks every year for the past 15 years because every year the water gets deeper and the money doesn't, maybe it's a Government Insurance scam because it's cheaper than thinking and or no one stands at the kitchen sink anymore washing up, I do and my sink won't empty if the drain outside is blocked with leaves.
