I spent the first 18 years of my life in Hereford. It was a wonderful little place!

My wife Violet was from Leominster and worked for Bulmers and I did my Apprenticeship with Henry Wiggin and Co. Ltd. Both great Companies. Played footer for Lads Club and various other local teams. Loved my pints and football! We emigrated to CA USA in 1981 via Xerox and I worked in Silicon Valley and traveled the World for 30 plus crazy years. We didn't really do many naughty things but do know lots and lots about working diligently; bringing up a a family and Change, Change, Change! Both drinking and smoking are 'long gone' ! i am retired plus grateful and nowadays I help alcoholics and addicts quit drinking and drugs and stay quit!! Actually Tom you sound passionate and pretty well buzzed on this video but maybe it's just normal you!? I like Hereford too and have visited many times since 1981 but it of course does not seem like the Hereford I once knew! ! Yes one of the constants in life is Change!

There’s no place I’d rather live than the city I live in right now. Hereford It’s my home, and no matter how bad the world seems, my hometown is my sanctuary.

Been in Hereford born bred 45yrs..seen a lot in those years, has changed a lot but still pretty chilled town to be fair…I remember town in the 90s every pub was rammed on a Saturday night with great atmosphere..the grapes, the booth, the spread then off to the rooms, always with a kebab on the way home from jemals..great great times and memories 👊🏼👌🏻

Spot on. A crappy little bench in the Barrels has more value to me than the most beautiful resorts or cities you can name

I went and really enjoyed the place, i agree there isnt much to do but its beautiful and its very very English, which most of England isnt now, certainly non of the bigger cities, i like the way its really nice but yet not so posh, other places that are similar are way too posh, Hereford isnt, also as a stoner there was loads of walks to go on to have a smoke, only probelm is at night its not easy as you look very suspicious going on a hike in the pitch black without a dog and using your phone as a tourch. Loved the place though, can i just ask what the general law and feeling about smoking weed outside is there ? is it semi legal like most bit cities, is it tolerated or is it really strict ?

Now Bromyard is a time warp - Hereford has a few changes it can speak of. As for the youth if they were outdoor nuts it would be heaven - there are a few about. Love churchill gardens - done a lot of black microdots up there. It was the time of raves, pills and breaking the law for me to. Got busted a number of times and banged up behind the door. I was never bored! I think the love of Hereford or not depends upon the dimension in which you dwell. Sounding trippy now but true. Heck you can pick some great mushrooms around ere. Now you can't find them in abundance in Manchester or London. All the best. Mark

People expect everything to be laid out for them and are not prepared to get off their arses and get together to find or create something to do. How do they imagine that the clubs, societies and movements, such as the cooperatives of the past came about? Youngsters especially, need to get off their phones and grow up.

Ouch. There is a lot in Hereford it just that most of it cost more than the people make. I remember the pottery place, bowling alley golf, old jungle mania and other places which were fun. There has always been a lot here but most of the activates were expensive or just unused so they closed down shortly after opening. I remember the new greggs opening recently but closed within a year and very few seemed to realize. Even that new Matrix arcade which is here is probably going to be gone shortly, if you can call 4 machines a arcade. The issue I see is most activities cost a lot to do weekly and so most of the youth here cant afford it. Besides skating there is very few activates for free which younger people can do. If you have money there is a lot including motocross and quad biking last I checked. The issue is just all activities cost a lot and the rich and poor divide here is enormous. It is so large that I know several who have commented on it when thy first get here. There is a lot of communities inside and around Hereford as well if people look. The final issue is although there is a lot in Hereford not much is advertised and you have to know about it to find it. I don't know why but many placed in Hereford either have old or no websites so many of the things are left unfound by the new generations. I also think a big issue is the older generation here. A lot of people in Hereford especially older ones have moved here for retirement. As they have moved here and are the majority of the wealth they are catered for more. Certain policies and laws here show this. One big thing is having more retirement homes & spa's around Hereford than anything I previously mentioned. But yeah young people should get off their phone and fix these issues which are mostly caused by older ones, I guess we could kick the older lot out

@@staticbuilds7613 Sometimes one has to take the long-term view and start small and build things up, but rather than just be consumers people need to dedicate time and resources to make things happen. There are things people can do together with a limited or practically no budget, they just need to get off their arses and decide to do it. Sticking your money in a gaming machine, buying scratch cards, weed, tobacco and alcohol are all good activities to limit in the interests of doing something more fulfilling. The country is in a mess politically, socially and economically so there are some serious matters out there which in their own self-interest they need to get activated about. Stop listening to the programming that says you're powerless, it's all hopeless and against the young. Stop being led by the nose and do some thinking about the narratives they are feeding you. It only gets better if people get engaged and stop letting the sociopaths rule the roost.

You mean the lack of varied hues, don't you mate? English blood at a dna level is as diverse as any other (French, scandanavians, Romans, Jews, Jutes, Angles, Saxons, Celts, bit of Romanian like with King Charles blood who claims descent from vlad the impaler who I'd imagine was pretty ruddy in complexion, various germanics, of course St Georges day celebrates a Turk and so much of the English language is based on persian words and we use an Arabic number system with a British museum hardly ever filled with anything British...), interesting that those that still call the afforestationed cultures and their respective landmasses home... Few of them (your genetic forebears), hold the English in high regard... Including the Manx people who look exactly like you... Oh well,
