I really hope future religious horror takes more of an approach similar to what this movie did in finding a new avenue of exploring the subgenre rather than the same 5 reused tricks from The Exorcist we've been getting for 50 years at this point in virtually every possession movie

Oh yeah definitely. I prefer this kind of religious horror film over those possession movies. I am not a fan of that kind of film.

If you are familiar with the book of The Revelation in the bible parts of the movie may take on a different meaning. As Mr. Reed said A billion people have played monopoly but a fraction have finished it. Maybe that reminds you of something else, as he points to the Bible. The Revelation is the last book in the bible. It describes the last days where a person either accepts the controls forced on them or accept death.
