How you edited the crowd cheering "You're doing great" and then clipped to you staring at the screen and deadpanning "I wish." (at 8:28) was so funny to me. Thanks for bringing us along for your journey. 50 miles is an amazing accomplishment!

Wow Chris brilliant run and event ......your filming captures the day, thank you for the whole series . The lady runner who was in your film just ahead of you in later stages was running in and around myself between the start and Reigate and I finished 12:38 so lost a bit more it seems in the last 20 miles. My problem was general fatigue but I had no specific aches or pains ... just completely knackered and I fell over twice!! 😂 We did it Chris and thanks to you and Dan for all the motivation in your filming 🤙🏃🏻💪🏁

Thanks Michael and very well done to you too 👍🙌 Fatigue and low energy caught me out a bit on the longer training runs so I know that feeling well. What a brilliant video, and a fantastic effort. Im looking to do my first Ultra in July this year 45M so just shy of yours, im trying to document it on my channel so any tips and hints would be appreciated RE filming (Extra batteries I imagine would be piece of advice 1!) What an inspiration, Liked and subscribed, looking forwards to seeing whats next!

Thank you and hope your training for your Ultra is going well. Definitely have two batteries. If you can, gain some experience of the course so that you know in advance the best bits to be filming. Likely you won't want to be holding the camera for the full 45 miles so have a plan on where you'd put it when not holding it. I attached mine to where the poles would normally attach on my pack.

Great effort! Its was a very tough course in places, and I really struggled in the middle section from Boxhill to Colly Hill. Managed to face plant in the woods with about 5km left as well 🤣

Thanks Ray. That middle section is tough at the best of times. I think it helped me, knowing it so well. It certainly helped getting to Reigate and knowing what we faced ahead of us wasn't going to be as tough. Hope you were OK after the face plant, it was really muddy in those woods.

Absolutely awesome job Chris! Truly incredible! You smashed it! 👏🏻 Looks like you and Dan suffered with similar knee pain during that. Now onto the next one! 🤣 keep up the amazing work mate! 😎🤘🏻

Thanks Ben, certainly some similarities between what happened to Dan and me. For both of us it turned into a really tough race and we both grinded it out until the end.

@@HereWeAreRunning yeah that's quite odd maybe you were telepathically linked some how 🤣 can't believe you didn't sprint up colley hill 😜 maybe next time? 😎🤘🏻

Result!!!! Being an over pronator, what are your favourite trail shoes? I can’t find anything that will go more than 6 miles without causing discomfort without doing an epic 50 like you
@daffee3603 жыл бұрын
I am as well, Brooks Cascadia and the Invo8 Trailfy g300 work for me :)

Thanks Peter. In terms of trail shoes, the Asics Gel Trabuco 9 are designed as a stability shoe. I got on well with these up to distances of around 20 miles. I bought the Inov-8 Trailfly Ultra's for the final long runs of my training and the race. They are a max cushioned trail shoe and really helped with comfort when the runs got longer. Like most trail shoes, they aren't specifically a support shoe but they were fine for keeping me stable over the 50 mile race on uneven trails.

Fantastic achievement. A great run, you must have been absolutely wrecked by the end, I wonder how some 3 days later your legs are feeling now and whether you're tempted to climb back onto that treadmill again anytime soon.

Thanks Tony. My legs were completely wrecked by the end and getting into the car for the lift home was a challenge. They are still truly battered but with every day that passes, they are slowly recovering. The treadmill will remain unused for a while I reckon 😀
