I live in Exmouth it's stunning we have the beach plus the picturesque river exe that wasn't shown here, neither was the sea front from orcombe point to the marina. The town is not massive like it was described, the chip shop in Exeter rd in Exmouth Capels was voted best in Britain a few times. There is 3 miles of sandy beach here is also a cycle path up the railway line along side the river exe to Topsham and Exeter further on it's only 20 minutes cycle from Exmouth to Topsham. Plenty to do and sea here in old England.

I have a house about 10mins from Exmouth,but rarely visit with the van during the summer,there's been a lot of controversy concerning Motorhome parking over the last few years,overnight parking on the esplanade seafront is now banned.Parking during the day is permitted but sadly spoilt by people overhanging the pavement with large vans.You were wise to pay for two bays as fines are imposed in EDC car parks.The local district council was considering putting a aire on the car park beside train station but no progress as yet. As you found. Budliegh is a lot more sedate,but both towns very busy in summer months and almost impossible to park a Motorhome anywhere unless your local and know a few spots.Phillip Brooms place is a nice quite little spot for couple of nights and not far from the Exe cycle way which runs from Exeter to Exmouth, a bike being the best option in the summer to visit either towns.Glad you enjoyed your stay,but totally different in the summer peak,which is why I tend to go elsewhere.

Hi, good to see you are out and about. Be careful about parking. You might find the whole vehicle needs to be within the marked boundaries of the parking bay. I am not a lawyer and cannot find anything in the Highway Code, but there is something called Contravention code 86 which shall be used for vehicles which are seen to be not parked wholly within the markings of the bay or space. No observation period will be applied. It goes on to say: For a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to be issued, at least one full wheel of the vehicle must be outside the markings of the parking space or bay. I don't know what is done if the wheels are inside but the overhang is outside. I do know of people receiving tickets because the rear overhang encroached on a path.
@HereWeTow3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike thank you and this is something i have read about too. The legal reference is in relation to the tyres being wholly in a marked bay and there is no case law about anything else. If our overhang takes two bays I think its only right to pay for two as you are taking away a parking space and revenue. Time will tell if we have to do this again and how it works. I did try to ring the council but as it was Saturday their office was closed. I think if it was mid week a call would be made. Have a good week and thank you so much for your comment on this 😊👍 Karina

I fully expected the Fish to be fresh and first rate because of the location. The only real place to buy Fish and Chips is a chippy, not a pub or some tourist outlet. The problem that I have found, home or abroad is in tourist areas, you are there for the day of just one visit. The inflated prices and sometimes the quality of food are there as a quick hit to your pocket . Have you noticed that Fish allegedly sourced near to the sea varies in size an quality. One such place in Cornwall next to the sea imports from Norway, because its cheaper, while a lot of fish in the UK is exported to Spain. Ps £10 your having a laugh.
@HereWeTow3 жыл бұрын
This is very true…the best ones are found in villages I find and cooked by people who have been running a chippy for years. The batter is often a make or break. Thank you for watching 😊 Karina

As an Exmouthian, I loved your video. Thank you 😀 Extremely interested in buying a motor home so I have one question, what does CL stand for ?
@HereWeTow3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jamie and it was lovely to visit your area. CL is a Certified Location with The Caravan and Motorhome Club. A landowner can register with the Club for permission to have a small number of pitches and through this scheme they dont have to go through planning permission for the small site. The CL is then run by the owner who takes their own bookings but you can find them listed on the Club website. I can certainly recommend motorhoming 😊 Karina

Hi I am a 44 tonne truck driver, please do not as stated use the A30 to " this will get you to Exmouth " , IT WILL NOT!! you will end up going through Otter st mary , transfersing the A3052 and on the B3179, unless you are really confident and can push on , forget this advise, this is a quary route, you are sure to get a tipper truck right up your chuffer , use J30 of M5 , get onto A376, or A3052 then B3179/ Salterton on sign posts then follow Exmouth. My advise, M5 j30, off for Exmouth , right hand lane , A376 all the way in. Keep your speed up, road is good. Mostly 40mph limit to Exmouth where its single lane carrageway, road is wide enough for 2 artics so keep off the brake pedal and crack on! Motor home friendly Tesco out on Salterton Road and cheep fuel No hieght limit. If going east out of Exmouth road narrow in place's, again dont faf about, go for the gaps and crack on. Otherwise us lot are stuck behind a long line of traffic behind you. Grrrrr! Regards BasherMAN
@HereWeTow3 жыл бұрын
Thanks BasherMan, thanks for that and I should have clarified I meant the A30 down to where you rejoin the M5 just above Exeter, not cutting down the B roads. Thank you for clarifying that. Thanks for the tip about the Tesco too! 😊 Karina and Jules

Really interested to see how you pack the van for a short trip vs a longer holiday. If you have already done this sorry I must have mist it.
