Stereotypes ran pretty rampant across the popular arts/across the world. Herge and the attitudes of so many DID evolve---and are STILL evolving. (Btw, I don't know if you've done a video on some of Disney's "uncomfortable" connections and actions over the decades, starting with his hiring of many ex-Nazis for his shows and as advisers, but it is a subject for at least some commentary in my view. Thanks for the video.

You are beautiful.Btw,is tin tin animated series worth watching for adults today?Watched first five episodes. While I did enjoy,I find the series to be too light hearted and not serious enough.Should I continue watching?

I haven't watched the series since I was a kid myself! However, I consider the BD series relatively light-hearted rather than serious. If you're looking for heavier stuff, check out Corto Maltese or Tardí

From a brown guy in India, growing up reading Herge's Tintin, it's definitely complicated...Tintin's depictions of life in India was funny and such crass caricatures, then again so was Spielberg's portrayal in Indiana Jones. As a child I was mesmerized by the art and world of Tintin. And as an adult I discover on re-readings how racist the depiction of black characters and nationalities have been in Tintin. And here I start divorcing the famous character from his creator and even found out many pastiches using Tintin in revolutionary context as well as downright pornographic context. I don't know, it's great comics art and because of that, it will live on and people would try and incorporate Tintin in different context to maybe purge him of his colonial traits. We will keep blaming Herge of course for being the colonialist, but forgive Tintin the adventurer. Just like, we keep celebrating Tarzan or other problematic colonial heroes. But also create better characters and stories!
