Hi,this fish looks more like herychtys cyanoguttatum than carpintis.

Carptintis,cyanoguttatum has grey dots and this has greenish/blue. I think the dots are smaller than other carptintis so I think that is causing the confusion but it could also be that there has been a lot of hybridization between the two over the many years in the hobby blurring the distinctions. he was always beautiful since I got him at the size of 2". ill make a video of him with my underwater hd cam. he looks wayyyy better than through this cam ;)

How old was this carpintus when it was this size?

Maybe a year old. This little dude well not little anymore but when it was a baby it would make its way to the front and fight over food with the bigger fish. I knew he was going to get big fast
