Heritage Audio make great gear and great video as always Mitch. I can't help but point out and really don't like it when companies make statements like this, there is no such thing as a LIFE TIME of NOS tubes, eventually they will run out unless you are able to manufacture new ones which are then no longer NOS.

Lydkraft Aps. (makers of Tube Tech) really fumbled the bag on this one. How hard is it to source the component needed to create more units? At the least, they could just release a CL1B v. 2, or something, with updated optical element. Neve has switched up transformers in the past (Carnhill, Marinair, St. Ives). When Manley ran out of 6386 tubes in their Mu, they switched things up and came up with the TBar. I don't think either of these companies were hurt by switching things up.

You must be outside the U.S. In the US, this unit retails for $2,500 USD while the CL1b is $3,950, and that's if you can even get your hands on one because they're sold out everywhere and pretty much stay sold out unless you are able to buy one as soon as a retailer get a few in stock. That's why you see the CL1B selling for upwards of $5,000 on the second hand market. I actually have a CL1B, but may consider buying this Tubesessor and letting my CL1B go.

Not really a good question that can be asked at this price point. Most compressors at this price point use premium components. Its generally a bad idea to consider audio units as "better than" anyways. its more of "what sounds good to me" because sound is mostly subjective. Some people hate midas stuff, some people love midas stuff. Just depends how it works into your workflow and your sound.

That’s an extremely sibilant vocal. Yikes.

The female´s vocal track has some sibillance BEFORE engaging the Tubesessor. Some vocals are more sibilant than others and the U87´s upper midrange will not help on that, neither will the internal mic preamp used. In fact, when TUBESESSOR is engaged, sibilance gets a softer characteristic.
