One of the greatest faith songs of all time. For me, really ranks up there. Maybe the best, and the best one Bill Gaither ever scripted. Is so because it summarizes what is far and away, the core message of the Bible, God's Word, in passionate song. ..............It really IS FINISHED (John 19:30), because Jesus really DID pay it ALL. All the sins of ALL mankind for ALL time. When He went to that cross, He transacted an INFINITE payment for an INFINITE offense against an INFINITELY holy God. Something we could NEVER do for ourselves; human merit could add not one particle of contribution to our salvation. Could not move one millimeter closer to Heaven by any meritorious thought or deed of our own. When He made that payment 2000 years ago, it was complete, not a single offense unaccounted for, not a single one. All of them: past, present AND FUTURE were blotted out, entirely atoned for.
