Mason McCarty so their supposed to be ashamed of their culture because you say so ,you sound racist to me.
@IAmValenwind4 жыл бұрын
@Mason McCarty it is one thing to be proud of your heritage... but if you make it about your *white* heritage, instead of your saxon heritage, or your germanic heritage, or your norwegian heritage, or your swiss heritage, or your celtic heritage, or your caucasian heritage... THEN you're *making* it racist because "white" isn't a heritage OR a culture, it's a skin color... ...and what exactly is the culture of a skin color? what are the battles that a skin color fought? ...a skin color pushed a culture of subjugation of other skin colors, and fought battles to commit genocide against other skin colors- *not* things to be proud of. a skin color did not create a kind of music, or created a style of architecture, or wore a style of clothing... if we bring it to a level of skin color, then all there is to compare it to, is to other skin colors... and THAT is why it is racist to be proud of your *white* heritage... instead of being proud that your ancestors were saxons.
@luke82644 жыл бұрын
@@IAmValenwind I believe Mason is using the term white because its rather easy. What I mean by that is it can include all European ethnicities, and it's just simply easier to say it in that way. What a single minded response by you, and yes while a "skin color" didn't necessarily invent the worlds greatest things, a white man sure did.

Don't forget your Brythonic Celtic roots,there was no genocide when the Anglo saxons came,just a big mixing and their language became predominant. The British Isles and Ireland are their own weird thing. The Celts displaced the picts, the romans invaded, the saxons invaded, the norse invaded, the normans invaded, and the only sister language of modern English is Scots (with a high degree of mutual intelligibility). The Gaelic and Brythonic languages were brutally suppressed by the English but thankfully that's no longer the case. The divergence of English from Old English is huge because of the mix of languages spoken which became modern English. The Irish and Gaelic and Welsh languages still call the English "Saxons". Our week days are still Moon day, Tyr's day, Woden's day, Thor's day, Frigg's day, Saturn's day, Sun day- it's still in the language, it just feels hidden.

Some of these peoples like to argue and insult each other... Believing themselves to be superior to the others... In reality they’re all fundamentally different units of the same noble tribe. Take the English and the Americans as one example, simply two groups of the same tribe. Like the Visigoths and Ostrogoths (Visi-Angles 🇺🇸, Ostro-Angles 🏴). Simply with more splits and schisms in the tribe compared to the Goths, leading to the creation of Canadians, Australians, etc. While the Dutch and Frisians are close relatives and the modern Saxons in Germany and the English split off from each other even earlier. 🏴🇳🇱🇦🇺🇨🇦🇳🇿🇺🇸🐉; these 7 (8) people all come from the same stock, the same noble bloodline. Do love our island, culture and history is fascinating. My ancestor, with Æthelwulf, would have arrived here and made it home. Have travelled throughout the Scandinavian lands, here too for living history shows etc and made lots of friends. We are all cousins really, one big dysfunctional family and I love it 😂 the soil here has been nourished with generations upon generations of our blood and it's a fine treasure to keep.

I also have the feeling that the old IE tongues were tidier and fairer in many ways than the modern ones imho (correct me if I’m wrong). For example, Orgermanish (Ortheedish, Proto-Germanic) still had six cases, among them the instrumental, which not even Greek or Latin had anymore afaik. Gotish (Gothic) still distinguished cleanly between the different forms of the definite article and demonstrative pronoun "sa", whereas even German, which has stayed tidier and cleaner than the Romance and most of the Germanish tongues imho, does far less well at that (e.g. Got. "so", "þo", "þai", "þans", "þo", "þos" = Ger. "die"). How come that although most areas of life have gotten much, much more advanced than back then, many IE speeches have become messier and less fair in many ways imho? How is it that the Germans arguably have more thinkers, artists, poets, scientists and mathematicians than the Gots (Goths), yet the Gotish tongue seems to be tidier than German in many ways? Why does Gotish still have so many productive true abstract suffixes like "-iþa", "-ei", and "-inassus", in addition to the nameword (noun) "haidus", yet German, with its long tradition of philosophers, has to improvise and convert the nameword "Heit" into an abstract suffix, robbing us of such a wonderful and philosophically very useful nameword? Wouldn't the tool-case (intrumental), which even the Gots unfortunately lost, be handier (speaking of tools ;)) today than ever before, considering that we have so much toolwork (technology) today? Wouldn't it be much better if English still distinguished between gerunds and present participles like Old English did? After all, the state of being (German "Sein", English “being”) is very much distinct from that which is (German "Seiendes", English also “being”), for example.

@@dannyjames8894 upside- In 1987 I won a bet which earned me $2000 because I was drinking with some relatives and some other rough guys on a gold mine in the outback of Australia. My uncle had been a history teacher and for some reason he stated that Harold Godwinson had died from an arrow in the throat. I said to him no it was Harold Hardrada who died from an arrow in the throat at Stamford Bridge and Harold Godwinson died at Hastings from an arrow in the eye ( most probably based on the Bayeaux tapestry) He bet me a months wages ( I was driving a 30 ton dump truck 7 days a week, 12 hours a day) and I said No I am an expert on the Dark Ages and 1066 in particular, I am right, don't bet. He and the other miners insisted so we shook hands on it. Little did he know that I had a copy of EV Gordons introduction to old Norse in my bag ha ha. The next day I showed him the old stories and he knew he was whipped.
