Bel Ami Vetiver is also one of my favorite. Vetiver is one of my favorite note, here it blends very well with the leather.

The first and original "bel ami" was enchanting. So powerful and masculine with all these leathery tones. And do I imagine that it also had some earthy notes of patchouli as well? Now I use the third version… which still has all the elements, though in a more discrete way. It’s been the scent I like people to associate with me. So old-fashioned that it is unique, exclusive and luxurious. But I do hope the first edition one day will pop up again.

Thanks Max!! I've been waiting for this review. I own the third reformulation of Bel Ami and I think its a refined, gentlemanly scent. I don't regret buying it but I will have to get the vetiver version also.

Max, to begin Hermès is one of the only houses that makes its own fragrances. Not many of so called houses left.But a lot of perfume manufacturers all over Europe. Equipage is one of my favor, besides some others as 24 and so on. They bring back memories of my parents and others in my family. I used to recognize clients by their fragrances as well.

Thanks Max, I just watched this one you directed me from IG. 👍🏽👍🏽✨ I have the 2nd generation of Bel Ami and I’ve got probably 1/4 of it and good to know the new formulations. I should check those 2 out. I love those types of a bit dense, spicy and luxurious types of scents and works well on my skin as well. Bel Ami Vetiver sounds very intriguing so thanks for talking about it! 🙏🏽✨🤩

Max, thank you as always for your honest take on fragrances. From Hermes my favorites are Terre d'Hermes and Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche. I would like to try Bel Ami Vetiver as I love TF Grey Vetiver and Guerlain Vetiver.

Bel Ami Vetiver is awesome juice. Top notch from start to finish. My favorite from the house is Terre d'Hermes EDP with Bel Ami Vetiver a close second. I really like Voyage d'Hermes but it doesn't last very long on my skin and similar to Terre d'Hermes (at least to my nose). I also have Eau de Mandarine Ambree which I don't really care for...

Not a fan of Bel Ami Vetiver because I think it smells like a jolly rancher. Favorites from Hermes are Sur Le Nil, Voyage Parfum, Bel Ami current formulation, Rocabar, Eau d'Hermes, Terre edt, Ambre Narguile, and Paprika Brazil

I've been searching for belami info and am surprised this video only came up today and not part of a search. Shouldve searched Max's channel. How can 3rd formulation remind of polo if no moss? Exploring both belami's and equipage's right now. Need to find reasonably priced decants for the spectrum of each.

Greetings Mr. Forti, i would like to ask for Polo Green in Fragduel, there are at least 4 formulations of Polo green, Warner, Cosmair, L'Oreal and the current one, which have lowered in concentration, power and longevity along the time and it has become more synthetic as well. I wish you the very best, Mr. Forti. Greetings and a salute from Mexico, take care

I really wish reviewers would stop the practice of comparing a fragrance that is currently available to vintage former formulations that can only be found at ridiculously high prices on eBay. If that sort of comparison is inescapable then the advice should be to take that $300 to $500 and buy a very nice bottle or two (or three) of perfume from a niche house instead of overpaying for an EDT from a designer house. I just think viewers are much better served when a fragrance is reviewed on its own merits instead of going on and on about how it doesn't measure up to an earlier formulation.

I've worn Eau D'Orange Vert and I wore the original Bel Ami from the 80's. The original is a dense, rich scent that is best suited for a more mature man. I was too young at the time for it- the new formulation is nice but nothing special. I wanted to buy it to see if it could capture some of the original refinement but it was watered down for a millennial consumer so I passed on it. The Hermes brand is excellent though- any good collection should include a few from this house.

Im sorry to hear of the latest formulation. I had the shaker and went thru two bottles of the shaker.......the one i have now...almost gone..is the one w/the printed on glass "label"(2nd form)..Ill have to go into the boutique to test the new form and the new vetiver version...I hope they are good now..the second form still has the power of the shaker............I have a few Hermessance frags..Vetiver tonka and Cuir Ange'............love the Cuir. The boutique nearest to me is quite generous w/samples if you come in dressed to the nines and shop confidently..lol.......A great brand in all of its products//crystal/leather/blankets/table wear,clothing..very understated and ultimate quality...the $$$ are a killer however. A few well chosen pieces last a lifetime and then some..............

Thanks Bel Air, I know it's so true - A shame that companies keep watering down the fragrances. I guess they do that for (2) reasons #1 capture more profit (price per ml) and/or capture new audiences (younger crowds)... It's really sad!

@@MaxForti thanks for your reply, i think it's all about greed! Anyway Bel ami is dead thanks to hermès wrong policy! Cheerio

I will politely disagree. It is mainly reformulated due to regulations. Hermes Equipage and Bel Ami are both interesting compositions that rely on certain naturals. It costs to reformulate. Jean Claude-Ellena did a great job with them to keep them going, especially with the increased price of carnation. Of course it won't be the same as the vintage, hardly any vintages are the same today for a multitude of reasons. But it's nothing to do with profit. The profit on perfume is extremely high any way, and reformulations cost more, and are tricky to do.
@belairscents3 жыл бұрын
@@jura_rose I know that! But some material such as cinnamon are removed from the current version among others... Not asked by ifra! Thanks🙏 check my review of bel Ami if you wish! 😉
@jura_rose3 жыл бұрын
@@belairscents It's a hard one to be honest. Less spicy yes, but mainly due to less carnation having to be used, which is rich in eugenol. You could get around that by increasing the eugenol, yet that is increasingly restricted. Isoeugenol acetate is likely increased, but not to the same effect, makes it a little more powdery than spicy. So it's hard, really darn hard tbh. Sad yes, you kind of wish regulations (mainly EU regs!) were less restrictive but I guess, safety first.

Well the community doesn't talk about Bel ami vetiver cause they are busy talking about Office for men and every generic fragrance that Carolina Herrera releases. Gems are going under the radar cause reviewers only care about views. The fragrance community unfortunately changed to the worse my friend.

I had to wait on Bel Ami Vetiver when it was first released, but I picked up a bottle in August of 2014 and love, love, love it. I have never tried the original Bel Ami formulation but, like you, I enjoy it much more than the current Bel Ami. Regardless, I really like Hermes and own Terre d'Hermes EDT/EDP and Tres Fraiche, Amber Narguile and Vetiver Tonka (all Classics) however, most are a bit too light and fresh for my tastes. Enjoyed this comparison video..
