In light of current events, I wish to share a true story about a hermit from Loreto, Italy and the premonition he was given by God.

And since you use the word “again”, could you please specify just when America was great in the past, and why it was great at that time? My concern is not “greatness”, but “goodness” - which is a VERY different thing. For instance, Alexander of Macedon is known as “Alexander the Great”, but was he very “good”?

Historically speaking, I doubt many African Americans or Indigenous Persons would look at our past and deem it “good” or “great”. Even the Founders were aware of our flaws - and EVERY nation has them, being human institutions; it’s why they crafted a government that divided power into three separate branches, with checks and balances, to prevent or at least hinder any individual from acquiring too much power. In their philosophy, the ideals upon which they founded this nation wasn’t a proclamation of greatness, but was setting forth aspirational ideals, towards which they hoped this nation would strive to achieve. And to a great extent that is the story of our nation- the struggle, usually initiated at the grassroots level, to become the kind of nation they envisioned. Yet it should be noted that abolitionists were a small minority of the people of this country, especially at first. How curious! I was in Ireland with my husband and was handed the Peta prayer book by a stranger who first asked me if I was an American. (My husband is Irish.) When I said yes, he handed me that book. My husband recognized the scruffy man and said, "Oh, he is known here for his holiness. Save that." I have had it in my nightstand for 22 years, having known most of the prayers already by heart. I think I will start reading it nightly now.

In history I found that the Inquisition -a Catholic institution- killed millions over the centuries. In another dark page of history, some 70,000 Huguenots (French protestants) were killed in 1572. It’s called the “St. Bartholomew’s Massacre”. Huguenot citizens were hunted down from town to town, tortured, mutilated, and their bodies desecrated. When this was known in Rome, the Pope had golden coins minted to celebrate this great “victory”. This is what I found in history and IT DID ROCK MY WORLD, Teresa. I recalled the words of Jesus: “a good tree does not bear bad fruit”. Jesus did not teach to kill. Neither does “OT theology”. That’s where you can read this: “You shall not murder” (Deuteronomy 5.17). But I also went to NT theology to find what were the REAL teachings of Jesus Christ and his apostles. And the apostle Paul wrote this for us to learn: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” The Catholic Church had taught me to go to the Mother of Jesus and to the saints to ask them to convey my prayers to God, instead of going to Jesus himself, the ONE mediator between God and men. So I finally decided it wasn’t wise for me to trust an institution who has murdered millions of people in direct violation of God’s commandments, and an institution that also teaches the wrong thing about WHO qualifies as a mediator between man and God. Considering the evidence it seems that it is you, Teresa D, rather than Eric Kenner, the one needing to carefully study history and the Holy Scriptures, New Testament included, It’s hard and painful, though, especially when we have been taught the wrong things from our childhood. I can tell from my own experience. Once we have walked a long way along a given road it is difficult to get out of it, even if it’s not a good one. But TRUTH is supreme, and the truth is in the Word of God.

I went to Loreto for the first time while I was in a pilgrimage to Italy/Medjugorje I believe it was November 1997. While I was leaning on the wall of the House of Loreto there was a man behind me reading some holy book. When I turned around he looked at me and he said these words to me that I still remember: Today is the best day of your life. I looked at him and he said "you do not understand now but in time you will. He said "My name is Tom I am a catholic and a Kurdish". I did not understand the word Kurdish and he explained to me that this people were persecuted in that country because they were Christians. He had visited Loreto about 20 years earlier and never left. I remember asking how he was making his leaving in the town of Loreto and I believe he said he was a piano player/musician. I think we are speaking about the same person father Capoverde is mentioning in the video. What a blessing I met the same man in the House of Loreto. I still remember his figure, middle age man, in his late 60's olive skin, not too tall. I was very curious by his observations towards me and I wanted to ask him more questions regarding his observation toward me. After Mass I went around the Basilica looking for him but I did not find him. Then our Pilgrimage left town for another city. His words and his figure remained with me all these years, and now he pops back into my life about 20 years later. Wow!

As a hermit myself, I had a strange thing occur. When Donald J. Trump announced he was running for president back on June 16, 2015, and since I have not been politically focused for years, I had a strong sense that Trump was to be our president and was given a prayer urgency, a prayer mission, for this man. It was so unusual! I prayed and watched live stream his rallies--another different activity for me! It was like a prayer assignment from the Lord. I prayed him through rallies and interviews. It was exhausting, in a way, of sorts--my prayer work. This video of the hermit's premonition, thus, is very believable to me. I even now kind of laugh at how the Lord laid upon me the work of praying for Trump all those days and months--something quite atypical of the usual praying I do. It all seemed to come to fruition, although even I was amazed the night he won the election--but had been praying even more fervently into that night and wee hours of the morning, Nov. 9. Again, I had been rather apolitical in my life. I would encourage Catholic friends to be assured that Trump was who God desired for our country, and that He tends to chose the least likely in some ways, as He did not come to call the self-righteous but rather sinners. God chose in history many to lead us who had lived lives not so holy, but that they became increasingly so with time and their leadership. After the election, I continue to pray for Trump, but the intensity was lifted that night. Weird.

i had exactly the same thing happen in June 2015 with regards to Trump. Unfortunately i ALSO had the same thing happen one day about 8-9 years before that with Obama. i was in my car waiting at an intersection for a light when this strange voice comes on NPR and i had the bad feeling that this man would be the next President :( i had the inner feeling that this person was a snake :( i begged and begged God not to let him become President. i did not understand why we had 8 years of him at the time. But now i understand why. Obama had to be President to keep Hillary out for 8 years while she aged. He also had a job to do... and that was to goad Trump into running. Which he did during the White House Correspondence Association dinner in 2011. When 2016 rolled around Trump ran, and kept Hillary out yet again. This is all by plan. Trump will be in for two terms. The country will be a lot better for it.

I'm just reading this prayer booklet now for the 2nd time. I first received it about 4-5 months ago and read through it quickly not realizing how many unbelievable powerful prayers are in this book. A friend reccomended a prayer that you say for 3 years to be free of the pains of purgatory for our temporal sin. If they are true, which they seem to be (I see the Imprimatur at the bottom of the prayers) it's no wonder it's so popular and I can't believe that it's not more popular than it already is.

Read anything that Bishop Bergolio as he likes to be addressed spouts out any day of the week and you are left feeling bereft, lost and confused. As one who hast the utmost respect for the See of Peter it is heart wrenching to note that he hasp more in common with the Progressive left and more love for them than he has for the sheep of his flock. The description he gives of us Traditional Catholics is bead pulling and rigid, derogatory and always with a veiled sense of disdain but actually lately pure dislike. Yet when asked questions about those living outside the Church's teaching, for example those living in homosexual unions he says.."who am I to judge?" His treatment of the Dubia Cardinals, Cardinal Burke, THE Knights of Malta I could go on. Basically I want to be in Union with Eternal Rome. The Saints and Martyrs who pointed the way to heaven with their spilled blood. I started comparing prayers, Feast days, Sacraments, Ember Days, pre Vat 2 and I found them to be far more efficacious and deeply moving in its address of this pilgrims walk we are on. Even the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has become so protestanized. I just want to be Catholic, serve the Lord as best I can in the Faith His Son established. No more watered down versions. Ck out Fr Isaac Relyea sermons. He is my SD. God bless you and your journey. To God be the glory. Pray for Holy Mother Church.

I am a transgender Catholic - have been transgender all of my life. I realize that you don’t understand the complex issues that gender-variant people have. For example, check out the many KZbin videos about persons who have Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS) and you will have a much better understanding and compassion for gender-variant people. True, God created male and female, but there are many variations that can occur at conception (chromosomal variations) and during gestation (hormonal variations). There is truly a wide diversity, not only blatantly apparent in the animal kingdom, but also among humans beings. Whether these naturally-occurring variations are considered normal aspects if a diverse nature or erratic disorders has been a hotly debated issue. Why are “traditional Christians” determined to make our lives much more difficult/painful than they already are? We have astronomically higher rates of suicide than our cis gender heterosexual cohorts. May You Receive the Enlightenment of the Holy Spirit with regard to these issues 🙏🕊️🌅

unless the Church explicitly forbids it one can choose to believe in prophecies or miracles. just as even in approved apparition s one is free to believe or disbelieve. However one must always use the Church's teaching to discern. Which requires one to know the true Faith. The advice of a solid spiritual director is also prudent. These days I stick to approved apparitions but as long as it doesn't contradict scripture and the true Teachings I'm open. These days I don't believe anything that comes from the Vatican in light of what is happening.

You are correct, no one has to accept this, as, it is not, official magisterial teaching. On the other hand, it is neither sinful or counter to the canonical freedoms, express by Mother Church in such matters. On the other hand, the line "... I don't believe anything that comes from the Vatican in the light of what is happening", emphasis "any" is problematic, in that it seem to deny nearly all Catholic and Church teachings, as most do come from the Vatican. I do understand, that was not your meaning... context and all. But we are a faith, who not only follows the scripture, teaching and Magisterium, we all are a people who follows Sacred Tradition and the examples of the Saints. Saint John Paul II put the bullet he was shot with, into Our Lady's crown in the shrine at Fatima, an apparition we are not obliged to believe, but I tend believe in such things as where this holy Pope pointed to. But, we don't have to... on the other hand, our faith is richer because of such things.

March 9, 2017 The following may help those confused by a recent article written by the Bishop of Mostar-Duvno and posted on his Diocesan website on February 26, 2017, trying to bring an end to events taking place in his diocese - while at the same time the Pope is sending his envoy into his diocese to care for those events! As the bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland) prepares to go to Medjugorje as the Pope’s special envoy, the Catholic media is spreading on-going attacks by the Bishop of Mostar against the authenticity of Our Lady’s apparitions there, even though the Secretary for the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith had clarified in an official directive dated May 26, 1998 (Pr. No. 54/81-06419) that Bishop Peric’s negative opinion “should be considered as the personal conviction of the Bishop of Mostar which he has the right to express as Ordinary of the place, but which is and remains his personal opinion.” For 19 years the Catholic media has ignored this directive. When “Our Sunday Visitor” published this clarification from the CDF in its January/February 2000, issue of “The Catholic Answer”, the phrase “but which is and remains his personal opinion,” was deleted. The Catholic answer it was not. On October 9, 1998, five months after that announcement from the CDF, the Bishop of Mostar, Mons. Ratko Peric, went on record stating before witnesses that he had never met or spoken to any of the visionaries and that he didn’t believe in any apparition of Our Lady, specifically naming Fatima and Lourdes. “I believe what I am required to believe - that is the dogma of the immaculate Conception which was issued four years before Bernadette’s alleged apparitions,” (witnessed in a sworn statement attested to by Fr. John Chisholm and Major General (ret.) Liam Prendergast; the bishop’s remarks were also published in the February 1, 2001, European newspaper, “The Universe”). Though the Catholic media in America would spread widely Bishop Peric’s June 15, 2006 demand for obedience and an end to the events of Medjugorje it gave little notice to the July 15, 2006 rebuke he received from Cardinal Pulic, the President of his Bishops’ Conference, (“Medjugorje and the Church”, Queenship, p. 183, 184). Bishop Peric’s predecessor, Bishop Pavao Zanic, had a similar attitude towards Medjugorje as shown in the published interview with Gabriel Meyer (“National Catholic Register”, April 1, 1990): “What do you as bishop want to have happen in Medjugorje? What could the Franciscans and the parishioners there do to work with you?” Zanic leaned back in his chair: “Simple. I want Medjugorje destroyed,” (“Medjugorje and the Church” Queenship, 2007, p. 183). On July 25, 1987, Bishop Zanic, with miter and crosier from the altar of St. James church in Medjugorje, condemned all those who purported that the Blessed Virgin Mary was appearing in Medjugorje “to the lowest place in hell.” (“He expected to see the parishioners revolt, but they silently listened to him with respect, in spite of the deep hurt they felt in their hearts,” (Fr. Rene Laurentin, “Seven Years of Apparitions” the Riehle Foundation, p, 7, 8). Bishop Zanic had told Fr. Milan Mikulich, a native of Croatia and editor of “Orthodoxy of Catholic Doctrine” - one of the first priests to visit Medjugorje from America after the report of apparitions in June, 1981 - that if the Vatican didn’t accept his condemnation of the apparitions, “There will be a war in the Church!” Fr. Mikulich responded, “Bishop, I think you are fighting against Our Lady and not against the seers or the Franciscans in Medjugorje.” He replied: “If I lose there will be a war.” (Fr. Mikulich’s testimony was presented at the 1991 Medjugorje Conference at Notre Dame.) His successor, Bishop Peric, continues this same war. For example, when the Franciscan parish in Capljina was to be turned over to diocesan clergy, the bishop was advised to take several weeks, changing the priests gradually in order to make the change easier for parishioners. Instead, he removed all the Franciscans and staffed the parish with his diocesan clergy on the same day fanning the flames of an already tense situation. As he had been warned beforehand would happen, the parishioners revolted giving the example of disorder in his diocese that he wanted and has referred to ever since, (“Medjugorje and the Church, 2007, Queenship, p, 187). An article in the January 6, 1991 issue of “Slobodna Dalmacija” quoting Archbishop Frane Franic, the President of the Doctrinal Commission of the Yugoslav Bishops Conference (BYC), was not spread in the English speaking world. Archbishop Franic reported on a November 27, 28, 1990 meeting of the BYC gathered in Zagreb in special session, preliminary to the Zadar meeting of April 10, 1991: “The bishops used this ambiguous sentence because they did not want to humiliate Bishop Pavao Zanic of Mostar who constantly claimed that Our Lady did not appear to the seers. When the Yugoslav Bishops discussed the Medjugorje issue, they told Bishop Zanic that the Church was not giving a final decision on Medjugorje and consequently his opposition was without any foundation. Hearing this, Bishop Zanic began to cry and to shout, and the rest of the bishops then quit any further discussion.” The result was dissemination of Bishop Zanic’s press release that he sent to the Italian Catholic News Service presenting his own version of that meeting: “Yugoslav Bishops Say Medjugorje Not Supernatural.” On March 29, 2010, seven years before reporting that the Pope was sending a special envoy to Medjugorje, Rome Reports aired an initiative of Pope Benedict XVl: “Vatican Considering the Creation of a New Diocese for Medjugorje,” stating, “The project was proposed in September 2009, but it was not carried out due to the lack of support from the bishop of the area, Ratko Peric.” On September 6, 2008, I received a letter from the Assessor to the Holy See, Monsignor Gabriele Caccia, thanking me for having sent the Holy Father the DVD “Medjugorje and the Mission of Mary TV”: “I am writing at the direction of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVl to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and gift.” I had also thanked him for writing the introduction to Cardinal Bertone’s book, “The Last Secret of Fatima” expressing my gratitude that the Cardinal had included a chapter on Medjugorje. “I am pleased to assure you of His Holiness’s gratitude.” On August 13, 2008, the longtime secretary to Pope St. John Paul II, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, wrote to me: “I received your letter from July 25, 2008 with two DVD’s containing the programs of Medjugorje. In fact, the Servant of God was very interested in Medjugorje, and sent Card. Joseph Ratzinger to know the theological position.” On March 25, 1984 Pope John Paul II said, “Medjugorje is the fulfillment and continuation of Fatima!” (‘Medjugorje and the Church”, Queenship, p. ix), and on February 24, 1990: “Medjugorje is the spiritual center of the world!” (“Why He Is a Saint: The Life and Faith of Pope John Paul ll and the Case for Canonization”, Msgr. Slawomir Oder, postulator for his Cause of Canonization; Rizzoli, 2010, p.168). On December 8, 1992, Pope John Paul II wrote to his friend Marek Skwarnicki in Poland in his own hand: “I thank Sofia for everything concerning Medjugorje. I too go there every day as a pilgrim in my prayers. I unite in my prayers with all those who pray there or receive a call for prayer from there. Today we have understood this call better. I rejoice that our time is not lacking people of prayer and apostles!” (“John Paul ll: I send you Greetings and Bless You - The Pope’s Private Letters”, Swiat Ksiazki-Bertelsman Media Sp. Z.o.o., Warszwa, Poland, 2000 / and “Medjugorje and the Church”, Queenship, p. 153). On April 6, 1995 Pope John Paul ll stated publicly: “I want to go to Medjugorje,” (Slobodna Dalmacija, April 8, 1995, p.3). Several months before the Holy Father’s June 22, 2003, trip to Banja Luka in Bosnia, Zenit made public a report from the Holy See that he also wished to visit Mostar. Though the government had extended an invitation, local media reported the Bishop of Mostar’s response that it would be a mistake for the Pope to come into his diocese (as he told the media every time the Pope traveled to Croatia or Bosnia). And so the Holy Father had to content himself on that trip - his last to the country - with only visiting Banja Luka, the Serbian capital of Bosnia. Previously he had visited the Muslim capital, Sarajevo, twice. He was never able to visit Mostar, the Catholic capital of Bosnia. Bishop Ratko Peric, the Ordinary of the diocese that incorporates St. James Parish in Medjugorje, would not sanction Pope John Paul ll coming into his diocese. The Blessed Mother is calling to us through her messages to pray for the shepherds, not to judge them. She will triumph alongside them she tells us. “Again I am warning you, pray for those whom my Son called, whose hands he blessed and whom He gave as a gift to you. Pray, pray, pray for your shepherds. Thank you,” (April 2, 2013). “My apostles, pray for your Church, love and do works of love. No matter how betrayed or wounded, it is here because it comes from the Heavenly Father. Pray for your shepherds so that in them you may see the greatness of the love of my Son. 5:08 Tom Zimmer, in 1986, was giving out a book, with folders updating it, called Hope 84, to honor Our Lady's Assumption. I had it and some folders, and I have the honour to count him as one of my catechists, even while Novus Ordo clergy in Sweden were delaying, and also one of my male role models. I grew up without knowing my father, and my grandfather died when I was 8.
