Hermitcraft 10: Episode 11 - GOLD FARMING

In this episode of Hermitcraft season 10, Mumbo builds a gigantic industrial gold farm that produces thousands of gold per hour. This giant automatic Minecraft gold farm will then be connected to an automatic piglin bartering farm, which will generate lots of leather for my shops in the Hermitcraft 10 shopping district.

I heard Doc mention in a video or stream that the reason Mumbo's slime farm never produced a single slime is that the spawning floor was a block or so above the spawning range. Now if he'd built it at an appropriate Y level, then yeah, _that_ would have worked even if not the most efficient, and thus it never would have captured the attention and imagination of the tech community the way the absolute lack of output did.

12:10 To answer your question- yes, it is a hoe for the shroom lights. You can also use a hoe to quickly mine the 'leaves' (wart blocks) of the nether trees (big fungus) if you ever need any of those. Which might come in handy considering your shared permit with Grian

A way to get item frames renewably/reliably: if you get a cartographer to expert, they're guaranteed to trade an item frame for up to 7 emeralds, so until you get a farm up you can just use the cartographer(s)

Hey mumbo just a quick thing but damage explosion damage is calculated from your feet so when there are blocks in-between the bed and your lower half you take minimal damage. The time you died your feet just were in the "shockwave" of the explosion

I know it's probably been said before, but I _love_ the Season 10 aesthetic. The chapter title cards, the musical choices... it's like what if Wes Anderson made Minecraft, but with a distinct Mumbo feel. It also feels classy but much less effortful than some previous seasons' general feel. You've really nailed a distinct look and feel. It's a pleasure to watch. It was always a pleasure to watch - you're literally the first Minecraft channel I ever watched - but now it's a _pleasure_ to watch. If that makes sense.

The bed explosions originate from the "pillow" side of the bed, so usually just put one block between you and the pillow and it'll soak up most of the damage.

IIRC, blast damage is calculated at the position of your feet. Basically, a straight line is traced from the blast point to your feet, then for each mildly blast-resistant block the line goes through, the damage is significantly reduced.

A couple things about blowing up the nether (and stuff in general): -All explosives, including beds, do damage to you based on if they have a line of sight to the *bottom half* of your hit box. If you place literally any block, like netherack, between you and the explosion, you will take no damage, even if the explosion destroys the block between you in the process -Where the bed explodes from isn’t in the middle of the bed, it’s actually in the half of the bed that has the pillow -Technically, but very rarely, netherite *can* spawn in higher up levels, as long as it’s not exposed to air. You did actually have a chance of finding netherite by just removing that area at the top of the nether, it’s just quite rare I hope this helps! I’m looking forward to more of your shenanigans on Hermitcraft!

Not just the bottom half of the hitbox, the very bottom of it. Your F3 coordinates are your location for the calculation, and they are at the *very* bottom, just above the block you are standing on. A fun fact most people don't know, that's actually where the players camera is located, but the world is rendered as if lower down so it looks correct. That's a very old quirk that will probably never be changed.

Just in case you aren't aware Mumbo, you don't need to fill the signal-strength crafters with items - locking the slots does the same thing for comparator strength (i.e. 8 slots locked gives a comparator output of 8)

I have an idea for how you can prank Grian and become powerful along the way. Basically, there's this concept in American law called "eminent domain". It's complicated, but basically, the government can force you out of your land or property and use it for their own purposes if it is for public benefit. Because Grian has chosen to make his Permit Office useless, you could form a government, and argue that you can take the Permit Office from him to serve a more beneficial purpose, because in its current state, it isn't helping anyone. You could create some kind of ultimatum. Either Grian makes his Permit Office properly functional, or, you seize the property and he can say goodbye to it, replacing it with something better. Best part is, you get to decide what it means to be better, so you could put a bouncy castle there instead and decide as the leader of the government that that is more valuable to the public. This could all be done in a fun, light-hearted manner.

Damage from blasts are calculated by raycasts, drawing lines straight out from the source. When you stand close to it, you stand in the shadow of the block, so the block catches all of the raycasts, and you don’t get hit at all, whereas if you stand far away, outside of the shadow, the raycasts hit you, so you take mongo damage.

Just wanted to point out that explosion damage is dealt at your feet, so if you stand one block below and in front of a bed and blow it up, you will be safe from almost all damage. 21:53 If I'm not misremembering I think the game checks if you get hit by an explosion by seeing if there is an unobstructed line from the explosion to where your feet are. So by standing right beneath the bed the blocks the bed itself is on blocks the line between the bed and your feet while still allowing you an unobstructed view to interact with the bed and set it off.

For future reference Mumbo, just place a block right in front of your little feetsies between you and the bed. For whatever reason, blast damage is calculated through the toes, which is why your strategy mostly worked up until your toes weren't blocked by standing far enough away from the bed inside the blast zone.

The whatever reason there is that right between the feet is where the game says a player is at. Your position pretty much has to be a single point, after all. For something targeted in a straight line, like a sword swing, you can use the hitbox to calculate a hit, but for something like an explosion, you need to calculate a single distance from it. Trying to calculate the closest point of the hitbox would take ages. So it uses the player position to determine where you are in relation to the explosion.

to avoid dying from the explosion, it is enough to place a block in between, the bed doesn't have to be 2 blocks higher (if the bed is on the feet level, 2 block high column between the bed and the player should be used)

Minecraft Turtles don't have genders. Seriously, you can breed two turtles and it will randomly pick one to make pregnant. You can breed them, one of them gets pregnant, and then you can immediately breed the other one with a different turtle to make that one pregnant too. Both parents are capable of laying eggs.

For reference all you need is one block in between you and the bed, to block the majority of the damage. So you don’t need to place it above your head if you don’t want to, you can place it directly in front of you and just put a block between you and the bed and you’ll be perfectly fine.
