In this episode of Hermit season 10, Mumbo works on the giant laboratory that goes on the end of Magic Mountain row - this build is the biggest in the area, and it took me over 3 days to make and 2 days to design/concept art. I'm really proud of everything!

Hey Mumbo I've got a great idea for your chemical spill build. I work with investigating chemical spills for the government, and I think you should add in pathway blocks. When crops or grass die out they usually fall down and get matted down, so putting grass path between the mud and wheat you should get that effect!

Wait, Mumbos started using crafters… as a BUILDING BLOCK! What happened to him? Did he have a bike injury? Is he functioning on half an hour of sleep? Is Scar’s base being so close to his making him slowly build more like him? Is him planting the normal plants around the liquid coming from the lab making him forgot he uses Crafters to craft things? What’s going on? Does he need help?

Well now that you mention it, scars base in season 8 was super close to mumbos base and that’s when he started embracing building, season 9 scars base was kinda close but he also wasn’t really there for that season so I’m going to ignore it. *small headcanon here:* the lab was built at the same time as the season 6 base, all the way out here, the company 'Mined' existed back then, but mumbo was unaware the buildings he made were issued to him by them (like making a flat pack not knowing its from ikea). this explains why its in the same style, but the building is more worn and lived in (its been a while since S6 aired). big ron was there to watch the lab's construction, and his son grew up around the lab. many of the changes made, extra coolers, pipes, radio antenna, etc, were outsourced from local businesses to keep the lab running since season 6.

For example, if hermits wanted to use freecam to get another perspective, there is nothing stopping them from using scaffolding, dirt pillaring, or elytra flying, but it wastes time. I would rather get more videos than care about things like this.

@@sleepyavo let me tell you. I've been here since etho's chocolate island single player world (you can go see how old that is but don't tell me I'm scared to look). And the very early seasons have a lot of this goof ball energy because yt, as a whole, was less developed and literally nobody thinks they're making a full career out of this. But none of them have really developed their skills and flexed their creative muscles either. So it really feels like they're only playing the game the exact same way we would. So this season feels like a big "going back to the roots" moment and at the same time what they do in the game isn't just playing the game anymore. There's some amount of roll-play at varying levels for each hermit. And really they've learned how to make engaging content by planning when and how to interact with the other hermits. I don't mean a script, I mean "it would be funny to get X's input on this". Edit: in early seasons I include mindcrack. I'm biased because I started off always watching from etho's perspective. But hermitcraft is inarguably the direct successor.

One good thing about a Minecrafter exploring new skillsets is that we as the audience get to see the struggle behind mastering said skillset all over again, and that's validating for people who struggle to master it themselves. @greganderson6371
@greganderson6371 Ай бұрын
@@DH-xw6jp yeah that’s probably it. I would think that would be an in-house sort of thing, not an actual “legal” certification. Usually the state only certifies you on something if you could get in trouble for doing it. AFAIK, there’s no legal ramifications for firing a cannon. Of course, I’m also American, it may be a different country where the laws aren’t as friendly to explosive pastimes.
@BasicallyBaconSandvichIV
@BasicallyBaconSandvichIV Ай бұрын
Yes, you need a full on legal license to handle, buy and use gunpowder. They actually just updated the regulations, so now everyone had to get one. So recently a cop came and we had to sign a document and stuff, and bring our ID so she knew it was us. She was really nice, even said she'd have a look to see if we can carry our sabres outside of the museum! Imagine that, carrying our sabres in the rest of the fortress! That would be awesome! I think due to some EU thing, anyhows I'm not really complaining about it. The only issue is inconsistency as things like karbietschieten are perfectly legal to be done by anyone, even though they're arguably more dangerous then what we're doing. But then again, we're so safe partially because we comply with the rules so well. So yeah. And while those regulations aren't perfect, I personally just think they should be made more clear. It's a bit confusing now, it could do with a straightening. And then I think they'll function perfectly well. I live in the Netherlands by the way, so you can get a gun (like my cousin has) or fire a cannon, but it is regulated. You need a license to own, use etc. a firearm. And you're not allowed to carry or wield a bladed weapon (like a sword or sabre, I'm talking actual weapon) out on the street, but you can transport it. So you can't have a sword in your hand or in a schede, but you can have it in a bag. It's just like not having a really realistic looking firearm outside (don't know whether that one is law or simply common sense), that way cops won't think you're a threat when you're not. So in the unfortunate circumstances that there is a dangerous situation, they won't accidentally target you. Or so that people won't call the police on you. Nobody wants a situation like that on their hands. It's quite normal in large parts of the world. Compared to the US you could say it's heavily regulated, but that's hardly unique. Yous have a bit of an unusual system in that regard. That's due to US settlers back in the olden days (well actually not that old, but that's by the by), being really far away from everything and everyone, so they needed guns to protect themselves from wild creatures, bandits and whatnot. So it became ingrained in the culture even when not needed anymore. Meanwhile in Europe, guns were used for war, by criminals, and in the increasingly more illegal duels. So most people didn't have them, and thusly it was much more easy to enact gun restrictions. I'm pretty sure there may already have been gun restrictions in place, I'll look into that. Personally that's what I would do after Willem van Oranje got assassinated. He was the first head of state to get assassinated by firearm, and the first politician to get assassinated by handgun. But then again the eighty years war was a thing, soooo....
@DH-xw6jp
@DH-xw6jp Ай бұрын
@@BasicallyBaconSandvichIV pretty interesting how different countries deal with weapon regulations, and yeah yours are way different than the US as a whole (but keep in mind that every state has their own independent regulations, some stricter than others. This also applies to blades). For instance owning and making blackpowder (and muzzleloading firearms) is unregulated at the federal level, and they aren't even considered firearms for the purpose of regulation.

While some of the builders are branching out to Redstone, Mumbo has found out he has a "green thumb" for building. There's so much life and idk freshness to his build/art style. Very different from previous seasons where it's symmetrical, geometrical or for lack of better term sterile and 1-2 notes/colors. Regardless, I can't wait for the expansion of Magic Mountain Row, and am excited for if/when it eventually meets up with Joel's city. Extra big fan of the long episode.

I'm just catching up on Mumbo vids, so I know I am a bit late commenting this, but, genuinely got a bit teary at the end there. It has been so wonderful seeing how Mumbo "smooth stone slabs and redstone in a sandstone superflat" Jumbo has creatively expanded his art within Minecraft from quite simple really redstone to a whole build that feels like a real, lived in, charming small town, full of life and energy and charm. It is also really refreshing to hear a guy be quite honest and unguarded with his emotions and mental state. In a society that still struggles to let men express emotional depth and complexity freely, it is really refreshing. Of all places, in a Minecraft YT video, but nonetheless, it is beautiful and impactful. I can feel and obviously see the genuine love and happiness Mumbo puts into and also gets out of the builds, the art, and the videos he's made lately, and it is incredibly enjoyable and wholesome.
