I just love Doc's approach to Villager trading sell stacks at a time of Berries for mass Emeralds, that occasionally needs a refresh with a spare zombie, couple potions, and a few easily craftable apples? NAH how about i trade 6 berries at a time and through a convoluted minecart dispenser system ...i get it, it might be more efficient........... if he was using more than 8 villagers at a time.

I think the cyrstals fixed themselves in the most basic way possible. They were turned off and on. at some point, everyone was logged out or at least far enough away that the area unloaded, and when it became loaded again, things reset. I don't code, but from what I've learned about some farms, there's things that happen when a chunk loads, be it reforming (old)village borders by door cords, or picking where things can spawn, or a redstone clock of some sort firing back up to turn on a farm.
