something you could do to get back that eighth row of spawning space is move the water back by one block, but also up by one block. The water will move over by one, then fall, then act as it currently does. That also means the spot the spiders get caught in would be in the middle of a moving water stream when the water triggers, so it may fix that too.

KZbin needs to allow multiple tumbs up or a more positive review than just a thumbs up. That work montage clicks beautifully, as does using the camera account to give an expanded view of what you're doing. :)

Digging down over your water blocks will help the grass and dark room spawning too, since spawning can find a spot up to 4 blocks away in the horizontal directions, and if the highest block on those columns is lower it's more likely to pick the level which matches your platforms and then search sideways, though it's not a huge deal I don't think.

Find a way to kill bats. That, I believe, will improve the passive mob rates. Perhaps letting them fly into suspended lava, preventing them from hanging on the ceilings anywhere else.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "digging out all the blocks above your mob farm" only works if you dig out all the blocks above the farm for the whole chunk, not *just* above the spawning pads themselves, so you may want to prep to clear out more blocks!

Xisuma to combat the spiders climbing the walls you can put water on the ceiling supported by signs so that the spiders drown if they climb up the walls.

When the piston is extended (as it would be holding back the water) there would only be a one-high space above the top of the piston, making the space non-spawnable.

move the waterlogged trap doors back one and up a block so that when they open, it cascades out and then down. this will give you an extra spawning row, as well as take care of the spiders hugging the back wall.

I believe in 1.14 the spawning algorithm changed where its chunk based. This means the highest block in the chunk affects the entire chunk and not just the block under it. I also remember it was at one time the case where whatever the highest block that originally generated there was the set spawning level. Might wanna look into it before you dig down X!

Ooooor if you want the spaces taken back by the trapdoors, have the back wall as sticky pistons with water one level up & two blocks back from the spawning space. Vertically it'd be floor, piston facing up, andesite, water, piston, andesite, water (etc) - same redstone as current would work. Or if you really wanted the waterlogged trapdoors, they'd just sit 1 layer off the floor and be powered from underneath

You have to put the block in front of the comparator that's OUTPUTTING. That way the block will send a signal into the Redstone dust. The way you're doing it, the Redstone dust would have to send a signal to the block, which it can't do it because it doesn't face into the block!

You might already know by now but impulse had an entity lag issue with the Gold Farm so you might start running a bit low on Gold some time in the future. I don't know if he needs you to test it offline or if it is just a case of Mojang fixing some bugs but since you like your Golden carrots thought it was worth mentioning!
