I think that a big reason why the Hermitcraft community is so hyped about Skizz joining the server is because we can see ourselves in him. I would say that 99.8% of us are not as good of a builder as Scar or has a redstone brain like Tango. You are so relatable, Skizz, and now you have what every Hermitcraft fan would give our left leg for - a chance to learn directly from these awesome people. You are the viewers' ambassador on the server, and that position is so exciting and unique. Have you thought about doing something similar like the "Words of Affirmation" that you did on Limited Life, but with learning from the hermits? You could find out one speciality from each hermit and go ask them for a lesson. Like building a tree with Gem, positioning an armour stand with Cleo, learn about gradients with Bdubs or get Etho to show how his hopper clock works. It doesn't have to be anything big, just a small building detail or something. You would start to build up your mental Minecraft knowledge library and the viewers would learn right alongside with you.

Back then, they hadn't known if skizz would join, the hermits didn't have the conversation about it at that point. Impulse addressed this on one of his recent streams. Impulse is absolutely right, the best moments in Hermitcraft aren't the mega builds, but the interactions between Hermits. For example, in the launch week of decked out 2, the "hanging around with other Hermits while waiting in line" content was just as entertaining as the "playing decked out, the most insane thing made on Hermitcraft ever" content.

Rewatching this--- I remember watching Grian's first Season 6 episodes where he expressed his own worries that he would be playing on a server where people knew Survival Minecraft a million times more than he did. Hearing Skizz talking about just not wanting to "suck" kind of reminds me of that. Even if incrementally, you'll pick up ideas and techniques and quirks from other people. You're going to do great on Hermitcraft, Skizz. A lot of people are happy you're here for the shenanigans :>

People guessed skizz and joal because of the Life series. Like 80% of the people on that series are on hermitcraft, and of the ones that aren't, skizz and joal are the two that mesh the best with the existing hermits. I don't know if it was intentional, but the Life series ended up being a bit of a testing ground for new hermits. A place where old hermits can play alongside potential hermits and see how things turn out. Not just with each other, but also how the audiences would react to it.

Well, also just a fun crossover space as well. The rest of the non-hermits in the xlife series are in the off and on Empires smp, and there's even significant overlap between series. 15:45 @MCskizzleman Tango STILL tries to say he is not a builder! His starter base for season 10 has been mistaken for a Bdubs build by at least THREE HERMITS. His deepfrost citadel is one of the best solo Minecraft builds of all time! Tango was once a long time ago not so good at building, and now he is definitively one of the greatest. You have the potential to get there too in time. I imagine your time among hermits will bring out more and more artistic excellence that has lied dormant within you. Just give it time and enjoy the process and your current status. ❤

I always tell people to look at Jevin. The dude worked so hard on becoming a better builder. He said between S7 and S8 that he wanted to take the time to intentionally become a better builder. I saw him spend many nights streaming and just building in creative mode. Testing out things himself, picking chats brain for little tricks to using blocks in creative ways, etc. And he has become an incredible builder.

11:35 perhaps an odd addition to this entire segment, but I feel like this is why some fans asked for the Hermits to live together in one singular base for a season (or even part of a season); something along the lines of Hermittopia during the Empires Crossover. They wanted more of you guys hanging out with each other, talking about everything and nothing, and just play a fun game together, with us viewers as a fly on the wall. I don't speak for everyone, but to me, this is where Hermitcraft truly shines. Not to take anything away from how astonishing the builds are, or how mindboggling the redstone feats can be, but to me, the soul of Hermitcraft lies within the friendship, comraderie and plain old joy that can be felt between the Hermits. :)

For what it’s worth… Skizz, in a world of “Heavy Hitters” like Hermicraft, you fill the space between that the big builds over shadow. Be the glue and fresh set of eyes to new viewers and players who can’t imagine building such grand designs. You have an opportunity to remind people growth comes with time and experience, something my nine year old needs to be told like a lot of kids who think things just magically happen on the internet. I see Hermitcraft as The Muppets, Empires was like Sesame Street and the Life Series is like Fraggle Rock. Crossovers seem familiar and like family is coming to visit. It is an excellent community that you all should be proud of.

Dude you're so right. Even I, in my twenties, need reminding that what the builders in hermitcraft do isn't automatic born-with talent. You don't have to be able to build. Everyone has their own skills.

This is 100% right. Everything, EVERYTHING you do in life is a process. You have to trust the process and do the work involved in the process. It takes a lot of effort to make it look effortless, and it takes even more to make it take less in the future.

Skizz...if you pursue growing as a builder, do it only because you WANT to...do not do it because you feel you SHOULD. Part of our joy about you joining HC (not to say we'd be unhappy otherwise) is how you don't fit into any previous molds of hermits! You are your own thing! You don't think there should be such a dichotomy between the psychological and the builder aspect, but that dichotomy--that rawness--is exactly what I teuly believe will propel HC into a server that stays relevant and desirable to watch. You singlehandedly are a massive part of that, friend! So please, just have fun and be yourself unashamedly. Can't wait for more of season 10!!!

That comment made me tear up tbh. And, Skizz 100% deserves this. I think, the main reason why so many of us guessed right was partially us guessing what we really really hoped for (we wanted this so much!!!) and partially what made the most sense (as in who was the best fit and was deserving). So... Yup 👍👍👍🎉💕

I think streaming is great for showing the hanging out and goofing off. Grian was blown away that Gem had like 4000 people list watching them chat and fish. And we were just happy as can be to do just that. It was fun and homey and chill. I was working and just watching you all hang out and fish on Cleo’s steam or on Gem’s was just relaxed and fun!! I am so happy to have Skizz join the server and have been loving his streams and videos.

But then when he finishes its like beautiful and Im like wow I just dont have the instinct to see the bigger picture. I really struggle to trust the process and I just end up building w only like one block that I know I think is pretty. And ends up being like zero variation

@@rachelkim4457 That's so relatable. I remember the first things I ever built though - I never intended to even build anything, I strictly said to my friends NO, I can't do it, but when I actually just built and didn't think about what the other people would say about it, I ended up with something that everyone didn't expect and thought was awesome. AFTER that, I started thinking about it again, and I lost my creative ability for a while. We add so many mental gymnastics that screw us up, I think.

I think Skizz should look at Zedaph about the lack of building skills problem. Don't get me wrong Zedaph is a good builder but definitely not as amazing as some of the others Hermits, however, his content is almost never about the builds, and his way of looking at minecraft (and hermitcraft) has created some of the best moments I've seen on Hermitcraft. I get the feeling that Zedaph looks at building as a set for his comedy movies and I love it so much My point is that although I think he should get better at building, it doesn't have to be (and, in this case and in my opinion, shouldn't be) the main focus.

That moment where Cleo’s expresses how happy she is you’re now on Hermitcraft was so touching. Maybe you left it in for you more than anyone else but it did generate a sense of shared joy for me as a viewer. The best way to describe it is like, that feeling you get when your child has made great first impressions at kindergarten and now all the kids want to play with them. That sounds weird, but that’s what it’s like. Viewers who knew you before Hermitcraft love that you’re meshing so well with the rest of the hermits and having fun! 😊

skizz is the jimmy of the hermitcraft server. you dont need to be able to build when you are capable of bringing that kind of personality into hermitcraft. this server showcases the epitome of the minecraft player and every hermit brings their own flavor into the mix, be it building, redstone, personality, whatever. skizz is just a good dude that i reckon folks want to watch no matter what he's up to. i certainly fall into that group. couldnt be more stoked for this addition. skizz is bound to add his own spice to every hermit's narrative and the value that adds to every viewer of each individual channel is incredible.

I was introduced to Skizz during the Among Us streams via Tango, Grian, and Scar. At first i just figured Skizz was just "another streamer" and i didn't pay much attention to his personality. It wasnt until i decided to check out this podcast many months ago and soon realized that Skizz is an absolute gem of a human being. So much so that I've added his quote "Nothing has ever been done until the first time it has been done" to my email endings (credit going to him of course). Regarding creative mode building, I think Gem was really smart to stream some of her time in creative Minecraft when she was experimenting with building styles. It doesn't have to be a 100% solo offline experience. I would totally watch Hermits in a small creative world just testing out ideas or teaching each other building tips that could be brought over to the main server. Stream would be fun for audience interaction, but it could also make a funny training montage.

Skizz I'm also not a great builder, to make something pretty takes me several iterations. In the last server with my friends I built a giant house entirely of cobble and played it off as "The Cobble Kingdom" and just kept doing little things to it over many weeks until finally I textured the walls, terraformed the exterior, and wound up with a BEAUTIFUL structure even if all my friends were skeptical. It took me so long because of how many times I had to basically redo things, but it was such a positive learning experience. Don't be afraid to make something ugly! Just build! Then play with it until you find things you like and you'll develop your style eventually :)

Having watched Hermitcraft for years, near its beginning. Skizz should never worry about being a great builder. Go back and watch when some of the other Hermits in early seasons first joined and what they first built. They didn’t all start off being where they are now. Watching them all grow over the years and become even more amazing has been the journey. It’ll all come with time. Just have fun, that makes the best content, when the Hermits are enjoying themselves.

He decided he wanted to be a good builder in early 2020 and became one of the best builders on Empires, along with creating arguably the best build on the server among other empires members who had been building for years before him. It's really a fun way to address it especially for new players coming in who might want to join servers, but don't understand these things, because a lot of servers are just quick to ban people rather than work with new players. This season of Hermitcraft seems so special to me. The vibes are great, in general--people focusing on socializing and having fun rather than instantly building megabases and endbusting and doing massive projects immediately. Watching this group of friends just having fun, what you describe as the "roots" of Hermitcraft... I think it's what we need right now. One of the reasons I loved watching TFC was because of how he just did his thing. I love watching Doc do his thing too, his thing is just being wild and breaking the game. But it's what's fun to him. Dynamics like Stress and Iskall are enjoyable to watch because it is just friends having a goof. I think that's why so many people enjoy watching Grian and Scar and Mumbo; they're the trio that got me into Hermitcraft because seeing friends having fun and interacting with each other is what's important about a server. Skizz, you have the ability to increase that fun with anyone you're with. You have wonderful dynamics with so many people on Hermitcraft already, and you're creating new dynamics that are so enjoyable to watch already, like with the "Big Salmon" bit. I can't wait to watch you grow as a builder. You referenced "layers," and that reminds me of a lot of the older buildings/cities. Instead of things being completely torn down and replaced like they are now, they are changed overtime. New areas built on more and more. And when you look at ruins and the remains, you can see remnants of those that came before it. It's still a part of it. A lot of newer and younger Hermitcraft fans don't understand it's meant to be a group of friends just having fun. We can be too caught up in the extravagance of big builds and awe-inspiring projects and in-depth stories because that's what the algorithm has served to us. You represent that Hermitcraft is coming back to its roots. And fans of you have been saying so for a bit. I remember seeing a post maybe a year or so ago talking about how Hermitcraft needs you. This love for you isn't new. And we're all so excited to see you here and can't wait to watch your journey continue.
