not unless they literally change the entire game up. HOTS was never that popular, and never came even close to Dota or League. The fundamental thing that HOTS lacks is the ability for individual players to pop off--and I mean REALLY pop off. Yes you can have a player who plays well and get a bunch of kills in team fights, but if you ever played dota or league, you know what I'm talking about.

You can still build a team around heroes like Valla or Illidan hard-carrying, but you don't have to convince your team to let you last-hit everything to get there. It is a feature, not a "lack". I think the main problem was that HotS was released too late, and the first version of the game was not good enough.

I have no idea why Blizzard doesn’t put time into this game. It’s one of the best MOBAs out there, it naturally cross-promotes all their other games, it has a passionate fanbase that has stuck with a game that has gotten nothing from it’s developers for years - and it has an organic professional league. This would be a flagship game for pretty much any other developer.

Yup, even ranked isn't terrible if you're playing in the evening or weekends. QM is almost always close to an instant queue if you're solo or duo queuing.

Ranked had a 20 minute queue for me the last time I tried to play and as Grubby accurately pointed out Quick Match is an unholy hellscape of a mode that I stopped finding fun about 2 months after HoTS originally came out. I'm playing in North America. I know the EU servers have a much healthier population. But as far as I'm concerned HoTS, the REAL HoTS is dead for me. I can't actually play it. All I can do is log on and play ARAM when I'm seriously bored. It's sad.

Even when i was a league player (still watch) I found this game interesting. Like i knew it would carve a huge chunk of the market. Incompetence and negligence by the people with the money is why it dident grow as big as it could. At some point big dev companies cant see the small picture that will grow big in time. That is why EA dident run with their excellent games like kane's wrath that is still beign kept alive to this day by the community. That is why Bilzzad was killing this game die and failing at it... to the point they are now questioning themselves due to all the failures. Hopefully the smart people people in charge start seeing the small picture again.

Well Qhira is a weird assasin. All her abilities have windup, which makes her quite bad in assasing vs assasin matchups, so you either have to predict or surprise the opponent. She has decent damage, but not really high burst and she has ok sustain. So you can go 1v1 vs most assasins in lane and then hunt some targets time to time with her burst mobility. But where she really shines IMO is in teamfights. She might be the only hero that is better in a 2v1 than a 1v1, especially if one of those targets is a tank. Her sustain scales with the amount of people she has stacks, so if you are vs more than 1 person, then you get a full heal everytime you use your skill. So you have to trade your HP by doing damage and use the heal for max heal and then dodge, avoid until your next heal CD while the enemy dies from the DoT. Her lasso is one of the strongest abilities in game, since it is a catch, gives her invulnerability while she is rotating and finishes with a stun. People are tempted to use this as just a catchup, but in a teamfight, it is imperative to use this as a time buying mechanism. Use as much of the turn as you can, dont finish it with a stun if you dont have to. You will soak a lot of damage, it will give everyone bloodstacks and you gain 2 seconds. If you time it right, you can just render a pyroblast useless by soaking it during the turn. I love this hero

They really should've had safe, inner base doorway to solve that map. That way you can predict the other team for cave fights and guarantee one safe entry per team. I suppose there were other flaws but I think the winning team having guaranteed dominance of tunnels was the big one. I was still a Moba omega-noob when mines was live though.

Ok here I go... we live in the clown universe by having this game in its current state. I been playing HotS since alpha and still do today, I also played looots of Dota 1, HoN, Smite, Dota 2 and Lol even Pokemon Unite, Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, you name it, yet for me HotS is the very best IMO, this is the very last original IP game made by the "Old Blizzard" with looots of authentic love on it, it's such high quality AAA polished game, with massive amount of assets, models, voice lines, etc. from beloved Blizzard IPS, a gorgeous artstyle that blends realism and cartoon models from different IPs perfectly and even today it looks graphically better than LoL and Dota 2, the game is totally ready to get monetized hard but for some reason they just don't ??? quite the opposite, they made a huge patch in which every skin and all that needed to be purchased with real money (like in the other mobas) is now free, cool huh? well not, because if a game is not making buckets of money the Activision overlords won't be happy and then Bobby asks for it to be killed, so even if you really like the game and want to support it you can't, because there is nothing to buy on it, everything is free by just playing the game (clown marketing). This game is also a very good way to showcase characters for any other game, building hype on both games and a way to celebrate all the existing characters and universe from Blizzard (and now could even be MS IPS too starting with Master Chief? why not), such a waste... As a moba it has very quick matches, around half the lenght of other mobas matches BUT during that time you have around twice the pvp action than the other games, because it ditches the pve grinding, farming and other boring/slow elements (last hiting minions for 20 minutes at the start of every game is actually not as fun as you might think it is) and trades it for just pure pvp action, objectives and pve is reduced to just a little of jungling, bosses and exp collection (which can be done as quick as just going and leaving a leave to grab all the wave worth exp). A lot of people says one weakness of HotS vs other mobas is the inability to really really excel individually in contrasts of the rest of your team, being "the carry" like in other games when a single character is fully equiped and can delete someone in one second, well at least for me it's the opposite, that is something I love about HotS, you don't have that overpowered single individual, your hp bar have a meaning even if you a squishy mage, you rarely gonna explode in 0.5 seconds, so that makes fights always feels like fights not like straight stomps from the most fat team, its a team brawler after all, in HotS there is ALWAYS a potential comeback on any point of the game since the game is very dynamic. Game is casual and less complex, but by any mean that is a bad thing, since the game is simple for everyone your team and your opponents too so everyone is on even field and by removing the tiring mechanics and since there is not a farming/items score to dictate the winner of the fights, it all resolves to pure mechanical skill in pvp and macro control of the map, sweet! Well what Blizzard makes about this? Put the game to sleep, having it on this stasis field state only because it's not as big as the other two big mobas, because it came late, well who cares, it could still be the third one, very strong and with lots of fans if they only developed it a little bit but they refuse to, they don't even let the community itself do the job since there is no map editor, ugh... So yeah clown universe... end of my rant.

I only play QM, 50% of the QM games do have a tank and heals, the rest are DPS vs DPS. Its been so long since I have played rank that I don't know how to pick/ban anymore, I just build based on who I'm facing and map. I'm OK with never playing ranked again.

My mental health improved 3000% after switching from ranked to normals. Almost all the toxic shiteaters are there. QMs and ARAMs are way way way way more chill. The satisfaction from winning isn't as big and drafting is technically part of the gameplay but hey, the game is dead now and there's no rewards other than bragging rights so there's no reason to sweat rankeds anymore.

I love the game but there's no universe where I will go back to it, and it's Blizzard's fault. I unlocked almost all heroes on my American account, then I had to move do Europe and thye don't offer the possibility of transferring my progress to the European server, even when I'm willing to pay for a transfer. So basically they will force me to spend the same amount of time and money AGAIN to get all the things that I already had. Fuck you, Blizzard.

HOTS never truly died because there's still enough people playing it to find games relatively quickly (at least in QM and ARAM) and they haven't shut down servers. They also patch for balances and bugs once in a blue moon. That's all it takes for a game to be alive. For all their flaws, Blizz is keeping a skeleton crew on HOTS which is completely unprofitable to them and keeping the servers running. I stopped playing 6-7 years ago and then started up again less than a year ago. I was surprised by how many people are still playing and how quickly I can find a match. Game isn't dead, it just needs some love and a monetization model that would make Blizz take an interest again.

About time Grubby got back to HOTS! I haven't watched a Grubby video all summer, guess he's been busy with other games. HOTS is not dead, but it could use some attention. My ideas for MS: 1) Disable in game chat and add more canned messages (like Pokemon Unite has) that you can set. Disable reporting for abusive chat (as there would be none), I am sick of people false reporting for that when I don't even have game chat on. 2) Fix ARAM so people get three DIFFERENT roles as options, not 3 tanks or 3 healers, for example 3) Encourage not feeding in some way. Maybe show the death timer in the middle of the screen for the person dead, with a message that you have denied your team contributions for 'X' seconds. This might be a bit much, but there has to be some way to get people to stop feeding. Maybe fixing QM/ARAM will do it. I got to Masters on Unite (pretty easily actually) and that game lacks a lot compared to HOTS (loss forgiveness results in people being overranked, no draft system, end of game boss system is too powerful). But, I do appreciate the total lack of flaming in it. I know HOTS has less than other MOBAs, but it would be nice to have even less. People ignore in game messages anyway, so why have them? Canned messages is enough.

you find matches very fast actually. The problem is that a lot of times you'll get 5 dps vs 5 dps so the games will be a clown fiesta. Prepare to play heal/tank with a friend for any hope of decent quickplay matches

Its really one of the only games I still play. Still fairly easy to find matches, and matches are quick, no way Im jumping on the LoL or Dota bandwagons dealing with pissy kids with too much free time who'll rage as I try to learn the game in a 50 min match. You can play and get a feel for 3 characters in Hots by the time your done with one LoL or Dota match. We need to keep supporting the game, throw your money at this game however you can. Im sure many players play wow as well, your forking up what $15 a month still for wow right? You can't give Hots $10 a month?

Loved Hots, only the Matchmaking killed the game for me. Cause the more u win the worse ur teamplayer gets and the more u lose the better they get. So the try to force u into not winning/losing all the time. But what happens u get stuck in games that are already 100% only win or loseable from the get go, which makes the whole 30min playing superdull and boring. U just cant make up if one player is failing so extremely in a teamgame and he shouldnt be paired if his skill is so much lower, but since u just won a few games..u still get them. I also cant enjoy games, where the enemy only gets stomped, theres no game in that.
