Everyone had their own flavour of icecream, everyone had their own prefernce of animation. I vote American, scine it's what I grew up with. Some of my friends would rather watch Pokemon in elementary, while I was glued to DC and Marvel cartoons. When people say that animators can't make the characters look like comic art, who gives a damn? It's their choice, since they're drawing every frame of the thing! Fight scenes are great, depending on what you watch. Western an. is, usually, kid-friendly.

It's really funny. tThe reason for large eyes are the easiness to show emotions. With bigger eyes you can notice emotions better. Even if they look sometimes really strange.

Animes are far better. Why? There are more emotions, characters really develope in personality. They interact and are mostly really emotional. Animes make you laugh, thoughtfully and even cry. In cartoons characters stay how they are. Okay in Disney movies they change the sides from bad to the good side (or vice versa), but you cant understand how the character is changing. Cartoons. Funny, social commentary and satire. Better animation, the art stlye always different between diferent creators. Ralph motherfuckin Bakshi! It seems that there is some what of a growth of mature animation hear in the U.S.. The only problem is that most shows don't have a story. We need more cartoons with action and story in them. Anyways, I choose cartoons.

Anime animation and plot will always be superior to the American cartoon because the japanese have a more mature audience that view them were as the Americans play it safe and create some original and mature plots in movies and on tv they rarely take a chance and I put an heavy accent on rarely. You can count in your mind the adult American tv series but for the Japanese series you'll need allot of paper.

Cartoons. Perhaps you didn't realize it, but 1) They move more then their mouths flapping with occasional movement in-between 2) Anime requires the same formula for design of nearly every character, just edit the hair around and 3) No anime-lover will honestly critique a cartoon the way I, a cartoon-lover, will critique an anime. They'll fall into their hole of delusion and only point out positives on ONE SIDE, the anime, which gives them false opinions of things. A lot of false opinions.

American cartoons are better animated.. In anime/Japanese cartoons, the screen movies from right to left or it zooms in while hair or capes swoosh around. In American cartoons, most of the time, the whole body moves, the hands and it's more lively. But that's because they have a bigger budget. Anime is great for storytelling and the art is in my opinion better. Dunno...

Anime shits on American animation or Cartoons. I mean just look at how much influence Anime is having on how they do films in Film and Television. The Matrix trilogy, Sucker Punch, Inception, Blade Runner, Kill Bill, Speed Racer, Astro Boy, I even hear they've started filming on a Death Note Live Action American Movie (yeah you believe that?), And Marvel has started their own anime style comic and animated series. But what this vid does well is show that Cartoons aren't too bad, but not as good.

No contest here anime kick cartoons ass so hard, anime like one piece, naruto, aria, honey and clover, clannad, kanon, flcl, full metal alchemist, angel beats, haruhi suzumiya, gungrave, etc.. already proofed how anime's quality is far better than cartoons and it will never be reachable.. and for people that said cartoons are funnier, I give u full metal panic fumoffu, seto no hanayome, school rumble, toradora, gintama, yakitate japan, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, great teacher onizuka, etc..

I think the problem is that we think there is a big distinction between american cartoon and anime. A stereotypical american cartoon sucks just as much as a stereotypical anime. Either type of animation should not be judged by the origin of its creator but of the content. That's what tells you whether the animation is good or bad. This futile attempt to lodge everything in one group and compare them in general just taints the true gems of each genre such as Ergo Proxy and Titan AE.

Action scenes, prolly goes to Anime Talking scenes, American Cartoons Plot, American Cartoons Of cos the actions looks great in Anime most of the time, but imagine, a kid in a gundam screaming and yelling doing so much talking to the enemy. That dont make sense.. like they dun jam the transmission and you being the enemy, would u really bother to listen to all the crap?During the characters are talking, its clearly American cartoons put more effort, Anime oni need 2 papers..

personally, I like both! there a great american cartoons and great anime, just like there are shitty american cartoons and shitty anime. I mean, anime may include shit like yugioh and eiken but it also includes great shows like cowboy bebop and evangelion. american animation may include shit like fanboy and chumchum and captain planet but it also includes great films like lion king and toy story. see my point?
