The real heroes of the Superman story are John and Martha Kent. They were able to raise a god-like child into a fundamentally decent, humble, and good man with a steadfast desire to help others. They were the ones to instill those virtues and values into him, and the fate of the Earth was saved many times over as a result of their good parenting.

The great thing about Superman TAS and JL was the fact they were still alive. Other adaptations tend to kill one of them off. I grew up reading John Byrne's Superman and got used to the fact The Kents were still alive.

Since he's the 1st superhero I can remember seeing as a kid, to me, Superman's not a superhero, he's THE SUPERHERO. He's so iconic, it's just a shame that DC has never really been able to get him right in the movies. To me, the best interpretation of him is from the JL cartoon--stoic, sensible, super-powerful, & at times snarky (which makes it even more entertaining to watch him interact w/ Batman). And he's willing to cut loose, when absolutely necessary & it's absolutely frightening to see how powerful he truly is.

To me Superman is at his best when he’s the big blue Boy Scout. Not all heroes need to be down to earth and relatable. Some of them just need to be ideals that folks should strive for and to me Superman is just perfect for that when it comes to DC. Yes, we need heroes who deal with real life issues, but we also need a man who can flick a hole through a planet and still happily be gentle enough to help an old lady across the street. That’s just my 2 cents. Spend it how you will.

I disagree with the notion that superman isnt relatable he is probably THE most relatable character 1. He isnt perfect and is pretty naive, to be perfect is to not be human but clark is THE most human character ever 2. Whenever he takes an L or whenever he has struggles, what does he do? Turn to the people he trusts and loves, who cant relate to that? 3. He isnt just an "inspiration" just because he's good, he also gets inspired by others, by his fellow heroes, by jimmy, by his parents, by lois lane ALL of these things people have or had done in there life no matter where u live or who they are thats what makes him superMAN because everyone can relate to these things at a fundemental level

As a kid growing up in Nigeria in the 2000s, Superman was the first hero I was introduced to and he is also the most recognized superhero in my country. My dad bought me the Reeve movies and the Fleischer cartoons on VHS and I also discovered the Bruce Timm animated series (Superman and Justice League). I love his heroism, his uplifting worldview, kindness, humility and his good morals. That made me an instant superman fan and I remain one to this day. When I emigrated to north America and got into comic books, I was surprised at how different he was than I remembered ad then the awful Zack Snyder movies came out and I just checked out. Turning him into a cynic and glorified weapon of destruction is such an insult. These days I don't read American comics but I still watch the DVD of the Bruce Timm cartoons.

Yeah zack should be banned from writing superman stories for the rest of his days. It was basically injustice but without the justification. So the Kents and Clark were all just selfish assholes. I don't even like that he doesn't say " I fight for truth, justice and the american way" anymore lol and I was reading him from Ireland, but modern American writers are just far too cynical to understand the concept of superman. Which is a shame, the world could use more optimistic hero's again

@@Lauren007E I wholeheartedly agree with you, because the real world is already way too cynical. Superman is meant to represent very important to maintain in life to give it meaning & restore people’s faith in humanity… HOPE! That is definately something Zach Snyder doesn’t understand, on top of the modern writers. Clark Kent is meant to be a warm-hearted country boy who stands for doing the right thing, just because he wants to (NOT because other people tell him to). Instead of the American way, he could stand for “TRUTH, JUSTICE, & A BETTER TOMORROW” instead, to better represent the hope he stands for. ❤

I'm so glad I grew up on the WB Superman show. That really was a great embodiment of him. He was an idealist but still able to be pragmatic. Plus I appreciate that while invulnerable he could still feel pain. That helped to ground him just enough so you could still believe he might not win. I always figured he grew stronger over the series up to Justice Leauge Unlimited because he was using his powers while still absorbing yellow sun rays. Like by using his powers while replenishing them was like whatever it was about him that gave him his powers was getting a workout and getting stronger.

Omni-Man is closer to "What if we got General Zod instead of Kal-El", but I still agree. I'm sick of "superman but evil lol" being short-hand for "complex comic book character". It may be easy to say it's unrealistic for a man with godlike power to stay as humble as Superman, but that's the point. It isn't realistic, because Superman is an ideal to strive for. He represents the best in us, the side that always chooses to be a good person who helps people, and he wants to show us that we can be like him, make that same choice, if we all tried.

Writers these recent days just don't know how to write him the right way like the old school ones did like Dwayne McDuffie. Also fanboys these days be hating on Superman just because of his powers but he was always more than that, he's also been a great inspiration and a becon to others and the world as a superhero and a leader.

Apparently, due to Batman's disappearance, Robin requested Superman's help to find him. On the way, Superman figured that he needed to owe Batman a favor by disguising himself as him to defeat Bane in the process, after all, Bane caused Batman's disappearance in the first place, so he thought that Batman had returned to confront him, but he was unaware that Superman defeated Bane. Superman then discovered that Brainiac had kidnapped Batman in order to lure Superman out. Hence, that's the reason why Superman was in Batman's suit.
