Streamed 12th May (6.31am to 5.54pm). Grey Herons nesting at Stocker’s Lake, Herts, UK. Three eggs all hatched between March 9th and 11th but one chick perished on March 17th. A second one died overnight on May 3rd/4th. Meanwhile the third chick is now fully fledged but still around the nest.
The stream starts at 6.31am with the chick at the nest. At 8.49am he flies off camera, returning at 9.50. He flies off again at 11.30. At 12.02 an adult bird arrives on one of the nearby perches but it is perhaps not one of the parents as 1t 12.04 the chick returns and appears to shoo the adult away. The chick then stays on or near the nest all afternoon. Between 16.36 and 17.41 an adult bird is present and the chick begs for food but none appears to be provided.
