While I have great respect for the expertise of a master such as Peter, I also have to express my admiration and respect for Shomu. He accepted such strong criticism of his hard work and artistic sensibilities with real humility. That is the essence of a great student.
@jamesgavern20842 жыл бұрын
When coming up against a master that is the only way to handle it. Peter was a master when Shomu was probably in diapers. I’d do the same. But good on him!

Dr. Chan.... another very dense video. The key, "if you want a Litetati... A Litetati is like a SINGLE BRUSH STROKE." It can't be explained any more elegantly and simply. 🙏😔🙏

At 0:28 Peter simply rotating the tree to what could be argued to be a better front for an informal upright, showing everyone, but not commenting, and then going right back to what the customer/student wants is what I love about him. Straightforward, honest, but forgiving. Not harsh or pushy.
@onizukateacher79922 жыл бұрын
Better at 00:28 clearly way better . I was surprise at the end .

I kind of liked the windswept look when Peter rotated it at that timeframe. Then maybe chopped off the top.

Peter is a legend! Without a worry he undoes all the work and totally changes all the hard work. The customers face is priceless, a look of horror and regret. Hahahaha

Hi, I can tell you he was happy with the result as I was with them this day.. shiny had come to ask Peter’s advice while I was sat working on a tree with Peter and they briefly chatted about what to do before then deciding it would make a good video for others to learn from…. Xx

Very interesting video! I must say, I totally agree with your design concept and I would indeed remove that "Jin branch", pointing to the right (it crosses the main branch) and - in my opinion - conflicts with the literati idea.

If you did a true spiral jin around the trunk, would it not stop the flow of sap through the cambium?
@wesleyhooper24132 жыл бұрын
I’m new to bonsai but I don’t imagine so because a a spiral should leave a path of cambium all the way up, since it doesn’t cut around the circumference completely at any given point.
