Herpa continues to embarrass themselves and new GSE set from A4Airport!

Herpa seems to not even try anymore as their Open Day event is a big flop, new models are delayed and Herpa doesn't say anything as usual and A4Airport releases the next GSE set!

@BongoPlanes - not sure if you need more 1:500 for your collection, but the US store Airplane Shop is having a big sale on Herpa 1:500 models. $13-20 USD for dozens of aircraft. Not sure how much shipping is to you, but best prices I’ve seen in a decade.

Thanks a lot for the info, unfortunately even with low prices it will hardly make sense for me to order models from the US as I, apart from shipping, would have to pay import taxes which likely will negate any money I potentially could have saved. But it is very kind of you to think of me 👍

An full on embarrassement at their wings division.. Let's just hope the delays on models being released will buy them time to fix quality issues... But we have to damit: their cars & trucks business seems to be going strong, despite having seen price increases.

Herpa are soon more expensive then gemini jets! Soon even the 200 scale... That's why I've been collecting only 1:400, not 1:500, Since herpa has no competitors, there is no one really for them to compete with. So they can do any price; as they are the only 1:500 manufacturer.

Hard to understand why they would release a Stratocruiser for this event, and I won’t expect it to be a best seller. Having said that, one of the more interesting models in my collection is a Northwest Airlines Stratocruiser in their 1950’s livery, which by itself makes it a great looking aircraft. In addition, the mould and the detailing is fairly good; the main and front landing gears in particular are quite intricate and very realistic looking. In summary, Herpa made an admittedly odd looking airplane into a fairly attractive model. So if you’re into classic airliners, this one is worth at least checking out.
