At this rate, and with all the mockups, someone might end up making a genuine PC-98 demake of DDC. And I would totally play that.

Noob question but I opened your .M2 file in FMPMD and I worked fine except for the ADPCM part of the drums. How do you make them work ?
@HertzDevil10 жыл бұрын
this one does not use ADPCM (nor does any of ZUN's PMD files)
@mrnuage10 жыл бұрын
***** Ok but there's still some percussions missing. Actually, there are the same as those missing when playing Touhou on Anex86 (where they are not) and T98-Next (where they are).
@HertzDevil10 жыл бұрын
mrnuage these come from the rhythm channel instead of the adpcm channel, and this is also because anex86 is obsoleted. don't use anex86
@mrnuage10 жыл бұрын
***** I knew it! People are always packaging this emulator along with the PC98 games and yet they sound so empty without these extra drums. I personally didn't play the PC98 games before i found Next because of that.
@Gamefreak22059 жыл бұрын
Just in case that anyone else should have this problem: You have to check the box "SSG+RHY" on the main window of FMPMD2000.

I've been trying to learn PMD98 MML using the PMDMML.MAN file (based on what translators spit out. I know, it's very basic and crude, but it actually works). One of the things I would like to know most is tempo. (I skipped to that part of PMDMML.MAN, by the way.) I've noticed that the TimerB parameter in FMPMD2000 is never actually the BPM (if it were, Eternal Shrine Maiden would have a BPM of 195, and Complete Darkness would have a starting BPM of 212). I haven't managed to figure out the equation for conversion (there has to be an equation, it can't just be random numbers.) What's more, this song's TempoB parameter is 202, and the value you typed in for tempo in the MML file is 80. Neither of those can actually be the BPM. So, what does one have to do in order to get the real BPM from the songs?
@HertzDevil10 жыл бұрын
Refer to the YM2608 manual, 2-8-2
@joegamewaffle596710 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@joegamewaffle596710 жыл бұрын
***** Wait, is this the manual you learned PMD98 MML from? O.O Also, I looked at the section you mentioned, and I am severely confused. It does give the equation: tB = 1152 * (256 - NB) / φM I do see it defines the variables, and I can assume tB is TimerB (in this case, 202) but it doesn't clearly define NB or φM (as in, I tried to solve for them, but couldn't) Could you expand on that?
@HertzDevil10 жыл бұрын
Joe GameWaffle no, tB is the period of one clock, NB is TimerB, φM is the master clock (8,000,000 s^-1)
@joegamewaffle596710 жыл бұрын
***** I'm sorry, I'm still confused, but all I'm concerned with is converting between the actual BPM that I'd be hearing and either the TimerB parameter that's displayed in FMPMD2000 or the number input into the MML file. Could you somehow simplify the equation to fit the conversion?
