HERVEY BAY I Fraser Coast, Queensland, Australia, Travel Vlog 107, 2022

We have had so much rain in South East Queensland in recent weeks, so we decided to jump in the car for a day trip and drive...north...to Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast!
Situated 3.5 hours north of Brisbane, Hervey Bay is widely known as a site for observing humpback whales and is also the most popular access point to Fraser Island. But, Hervey Bay has so much more to offer.....
Hervey Bay has a wonderful subtropical climate. Temperatures range from 16.7c to 26.2c degrees in winter ☀️ It’s also well known for fishing and boating. The Bay has 17 kilometres of beautiful golden beaches and the bay’s waters are sheltered by Fraser Island which makes it very safe for swimming 🐟
We had a great day walking around Hervey Bay, enjoying fish and trips for lunch and finishing at a waterfront restaurant for a refreshing drink with a view... before heading home 🌴

Hi, we're Beth & Paul from Brisbane, Australia and we love to travel!
Paul retired on 28th February 2020 and on the 1st March 2020, we set out on a 6-month adventure around South East Asia. This was a well-planned once-in-a-lifetime travel experience! It was our intention to show you how you can have a great time travelling without spending a fortune.
Our timing wasn't great - with the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and subsequent global turmoil less than a month into our trip.
Until it is safe to travel internationally again, we turn our focus on travelling around Queensland and sharing everything our beautiful State has to offer!

As the video started I said to myself "Wonder which chipper Beth and Paul will go to?" love it! Really special place. We were looking at the Sunshine Coast for when/if we get to immigrate, but the house prices made us look further north, so from Hervey Bay to Rockhampton. Hi Karl, ha ha you were right….we we’re always going to have fish n chips 😉 House prices on the Sunshine Coast have gone through the roof in the last 18 months. But, there are nice places further north or west that are a lot more reasonable. On our road trip to Airlie Beach in September, we discovered so many beautiful towns and beaches along the way. We’re going to Bargara and 1770 in March…both beautiful beachside towns 🤗 We’re really happy you’re enjoying our videos 😊

Ha ha you guessed right Imogen 😀 The fish was delicious! Usually the water is a magnificent colour blue in Hervey Bay, but the recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding of the Mary River meant it looked a little murky this week…we hope to go back again soon and have a swim next time 🤗

Beautiful fish and chips..... errrr... I mean beautiful video! (looks like Paul had a couple of little sausage rolls instead of all fish) The mention of Captain Cook evoked the feeling he and his crew must have felt when they saw that shoreline in the 1770s.

Hi Julie, due to the very unusual amount of rain that week, the flooded Mary river made the water look a bit murky….it’s usually a spectacular bright blue colour! It’s definitely worth a visit and a great place to see lots of whales in winter. We hope you enjoy the next one….our first trip west of Brisbane to a couple of authentic Queensland rural towns 🤗
