Sorry, for beeing so slow, but I don't get the message of this vid. Is France a (from England) divorced parent to Canada, is he two timing (England and Canada), is he a love rival to England or is he a pedophile and England a protective parent? THat said, this is a great vid, which almost made me cry. You portaied the feelings quite realistic. It's just that I don't know in which box to put them. Since Canada seemed quite young and the affection of France didn't seem to have the ususl sexual touch I thought Canada was a divorce casualty. But in the last scene, when they were holding hands and went to France home, I wasn't so sure about that anymore...

The story actually fits none of the above really. The film is for the most part our own take on history - as Hetalia is in itself. In it's early stages of European colonisation, there were many countries that had holdings on Canadian land - for quite a time the most prominent of which was France. So here we are portraying France raising, caring, and teaching young Canada, as a 'father figure' - though of course they aren't actually related, being countries. However, come the late 17th century - 18th century, like with the Northern States of America, England seized control - of course as we all know England lost the American War of Independence - but he still kept Canada until the late 20th Century - even today Canada is by for all purposes independent, but still part of the Commonwealth of Nations. So, here we have England seizing Canada from France - or forcing his hand rather, having over powered him (for at this point, England was very much a powerful, strong nation). He then raises Canada as he sees fit - for the sake of the drama and angst of the film we made him a 'bad' guy character and not so good father figure. At the end, after many many years of separation, and finally being free of England, Canada meets France again. As for whether their feelings for each other are plutonic or not from here is entirely up to each viewer to decide. Hope that clears things up, and I'm glad you enjoyed~!
