I have three special watches, an Omega Seamaster my wife bought me when I got married. A Zenith Port Royal I had on my 30th Birthday, and then finally and most recently a Panerai Luminor 8 Days which was a reward to myself after losing 5 stone in weight a couple of years ago. Every time I look at it, it reminds what I achieved and why so that I never go back. Thanks for sharing your story.

Very nice 👍🏼 That first watch for your thirtieth has made me laugh with needing a bezel, face and hands. It reminds me of Trigger's broom 🧹😂 Such an absolutely beautiful watch and a perfect way to be reminded of your parents. It's definitely my favourite in your collection. Thankyou for taking the time to show them. I'm off to look at watches now. I'd said a couple of years ago that I'd like an entry level Rolex for my 50th. It'd never make any money but wouldn't lose much either, BUT with covid and finances due to covid, I didn't get anything 😢

I’m not sure how people can click an unlike button for this video! Bitter bitter people! What a lovely video! My farther who died was a master watch & clock maker and he worked for watches of Switzerland in Birmingham in the 1970’s and it’s a very rare almost obsolete trade now unless you happen to start of working in a jewellery shop and get interested and train to do it and watching this video made me quite sad and brought back some incredible memories! It is actually my favourite watch & I have the more modern version of this watch but with the stainless steel strap and watching this video enlightened me to a lot of the history of this watch which I actually didn’t know about ! I still have a lot of the old tools that my father owned from many years ago all Swiss made precision tools which I keep in a box which holds a lot of sadness for me because he suffered a stroke and lost his eyesight and had to walk away from a job which he loved so much but obviously due to the nature of the work eyesight is paramount to conduct what he needed to do! The sad thing is that my mum also recently had a stroke and is now blind and I look after her as I did him whilst he was still here ! I’m really sorry to hear about your heartbreak and you treasure them items you have accumulated because they make us who we are ! Well done and thanks for sharing such an intimate part of your life with us !

Sorry to hear about your parents, this is definitely a special purchase! I was admiring your Monaco during last week's midweek 180 and then you mentioned it so was looking forward to this video. I've always wanted one in my collection as well. Last year I also managed to aquire (nearly a decade after first trying one on) my first Breitling - a panda faced B01 superocean heritage. Rolex haven't really done that much for me either, but I have to say they're growing on me and I'm sure I'll add one to the collection at some point. I look forward to seeing your next addition

Le Mans came out in 1971, and I've always been enamored with the Heuer Monaco. I bought this watch for my 50th birthday in 2021. The 50th Anniversary of the movie Le Mans. It's a special watch to me, which will always be in my collection.

Love the story behind each. I’ve built up collection of watches but the most important is my dad’s. Mum bought it shortly after I was born almost 50 years ago. Last 30 ish years it sat in a drawer with no strap, case back damaged , glass scratched and movement seized up. He was a builder and dropped it down a lift shaft at Canary Wharf when he was working on the build! After he passed away in 2017 I found a company in Hatton garden who could restore it. Most of my other watches were bought to celebrate occasions and the Monaco has always been on my wish list.

To me, the strength and charm of your channel is how compelling the personal videos you make that in fact do not involve a car review but are personal and I can relate to - like your dog walks and this episode. I do not ware a wrist watch, but if I did it would be an Omega, to remember my late father, from whom I borrowed one when I was a teenager for a trip, and lost, and of course was unable to replace and so he never had one again. I can afford it now but he is not around, but the sentiment that you raise is touching. Thank you, Pete.

That's a great watch. I'm a real petrolhead who also loves watches. My father in law purchased a Rolex Oysterdate precision when he achieved Chartered Accountant in 1969. He gave it to me for my 40th (I was born in 69), he passed away a few years ago and is very special to me and I try to wear it as often as I can. My second special watch is a Tag Heuer left to me by my little brother who sadly passed away after a battle with cancer, it holds many memories but emotionally I struggle to wear it.

I have never previously come across your YT channel; what a really nice bloke you are! It is not often in life I come across someone so naturally humble; I wish you and Mrs Petrol Ped every happiness and all good health. And I sincerely hope your watch does regularly remind you of the many cherished memories of your late parents I am sure you hold very dear.

I can’t believe how much I have in common with you. I started with a Tissot for my 30th, an ORIS Frank Sinatra for my 40th & then my work very generously bought me a watch for my 10 year anniversary. They allowed me to choose, and it was an absolute no brainer, I bought a Tag Heuer Monaco, this pre-dates the Heuer version that you have, it wasn’t available when I bought mine. I absolutely love mine and the blue on the face is stunning. On the car side of things, I’ve owned many Alfa’s and BMW’s in the past, my last BM that I owned for 10 years was an E65 735i Sport, one of the most underrated cars ever built. From there being an Aussie, I bought a brand new HSV Clubsport Track Edition 90/150. As I bought that my wife needed the car of her dreams that was Mini Cooper S 2019 model. She got the 60th Anniversary edition in blue with black stripes, 5 door. She had wanted the BRG with the brown seats however they were so limited that if we’d waited we would have missed out & as it happened there were no 5 door BRG 60th Anniversary editions brought in to Australia, at least that what we think. We also bought the 5 year service plan, so when I took the Mini in for its service, they were going to give me a Countryman. I said haven’t you got any of the JCW Clubman 225kw versions....and funnily enough they had one the same colour as yours! As I was fully familiar with the latest Cooper S, the Clubman was absolutely fantastic, stealthily destroying all comers at the lights & I was constantly longing for another Golf to crush 😆 Incredibly acceleration is very similar to the HSV. They’re are different though and I’m going to criticise either one. The Clubman weight and 4 wheel drive is great off the line but then the big 450 bhp 6.2L V8 just starts to roar as you can imagine. Just a dilemma as I do not want to sell the rare HSV, it value has gone up $20,000 since I bought it in 2017 & it’s only got 30,000 kms on it. I’m constantly wishing I could own both cars...so will just have to wait and see...1st world problems, it’s such a hard life :) keep up the great content, very enjoyable distractions, and nice to see what can be done to a Clubman, when having a play! Thanks 😊👊

I have the Heuer Steve McQueen special addition calibre 11. I’d looked at the Monaco in jewellers shop windows for years. Then this one appeared and I knew I had to have it. Each Saturday I’d look at it. Then to my surprise they put it in their sale with £1500 reduction. It was mine the same day. It doesn’t keep time as accurately as my Tudor Black Bay 58 but it’s super cool to wear, and I don’t mind resetting the time every few days when I’m wearing it.

Hey Pete. A great little diversion into another passion that may of us Peddlers have! I too have a thing for watches, but as yet not been fortunate enough to get anything like your collection. I've had a few Citizen watches in the past, with the latest being a Citizen Eco Drive AT4008-51E. For my next one, I'd like something like a Tag Heuer F1 Senna edition. My ultimate goal watch would be a Breitling! Like you, Rolex's don't do it for me at all. My dad has a couple of Omega's that I may get my hands on one day.

My favourite watch manufacturer is Jeager Le Coultre. I own a chronograph which has rocketed up in price. They also make amazing dress watches. Check out this brand, they are hand made mechanical movements which in itself is a work of art and feat of precision engineering. Have a great Christmas Ped and thank for all the videos this year ,especially throughout the lockdowns. Here's hoping for a brighter 2021. Cheers.

Nice collection Pete, I started my collection with Tag Heuer. I had a silver dial 2000, then added an S/EL before getting my ultimate Tag, a blue dial 6000. I had them for years & years before deciding I wanted a change & fancied the Omega range. Gradually I have sold them off & replaced them with a blue dial Seamaster (Bond watch), a black dial Speedmaster chrono (single date) & a silver dial Speedmaster Chrono (triple date). More recently (following a discussion about current US "must haves" in an elevator in NYC), I have looked at vintage & in particular the year you are born & purchased a 1967 certificated Omega Speedmaster Cosmic automatic with date. It's unusual in it has a solid back & everything is fitted via the front before the glass is mounted, which gave it a very modern look for the day. It's waterproof (not that I'd risk it at 53 years old), it has a sweeping seconds hand & keeps very good time. Also it takes days to wind down when you remove it (much longer than a modern auto). I love the connection between cars & watches, I drive an RS Audi now & having a nice timepiece on the wrist next to a quality steering wheel just seems right somehow. Keep up the interesting videos 👍🏻

Hi Pete, hope you’re well. I have a Rolex Datejust Oyster, Rolex GMT Master II and a proper Omega Moonwatch. Not because I love watches but as a gift for each of my sons when I depart this planet. My thoughts were they can wear something their dad had on his wrist, or sell it or simply look at it. Contrary to you, I’m a massive Apple Watch fan and have had one on my wrist for the last 4 years and don’t miss a nice watch aside from those moments when I go out and the AW isn’t the right timepiece. have to say you’re dream watch is a stunner! Happy Christmas and let’s hope 2021 is better than 2020!

My all time watch was and is the OMEGA Seamaster Professional 300M (93 Model ) the reason I have one is I used to work in the Shipyard that Builds the Countries Nuclear Submarines for the Royal Navy. Part of my role was Handover and Acceptance of the Vessels to the Royal Navy. I attended numerous meeting with the RN officers and lots of them wore OMEGA Seamasters. Well done, Peter. I also have the Heuer Monaco like yours. I bought it as a 20-year long-service award from my limited company (check it out with your accountant!). I bought mine brand new from a jeweller in Chichester - a good experience, although no mince pies. However, it went wrong immediately! There was a fault with the hairspring such that it ran at twice the correct speed! The TAG rep and jeweller replaced it immediately and I loved wearing it, but it gained 12 seconds a day, which is just in spec. As you mentioned, you have to have them serviced, and after a couple of years, I took the plunge, sent it in for servicing and mentioned the gain. When it came back, I'm pleased to report, it now gains loses just 4 seconds a day, so I'm much happier with it. If I have to fault it, and I notice you need reading spectacles too, the date window is too small for my 50-odd old eyes, that by the time I have put on my specs, I have woken my iPhone to check the date. Otherwise, I love it, and I hope you enjoy yours as much. Oh, and I also wore it to Le Mans, the second time I visited the 24 hours!

When I was a teenager, my Mom bought me a Bulova manual-wind chronograph. But for the last 3 decades, I have been wearing a Casio Databank 300. I'm now 75 & I have gone through 3 of them just wearing them out. Then, viewing your Watches KZbin, I realized I have all the data, & much more, in my fone. So, I'm going to take my Bulova in for servicing. I, too, wear my watch on my right hand, but not because I'm left handed. I suffered a severe lower broken arm, both ulna & radius in 2013 and I have nerve damage, only partial feeling and a plate holding it all together; too uncomfortable to wear a watch on my left hand.

Hey Ped. Enjoyed your content for a fair few Years now, spotted your Monaco and thought.. Yeah, cool Man. This video hit home to me. Appreciated the openness and honesty in it, and your right, car guys like watches. Your story about your Folks and watches piques my interest, have a similar story too Sir. I was born in that date you mentioned... 1969. My Dad was a big watch Guy? but being a down to earth Working guy he could never get what he wanted... was always providing for his family. Can never thank him enough for the life outlook he instilled in a very young Me. He was a watch guy, as a kid I can remember sitting at his feet after he came back from work watching Le Mans, (I wasn't old enough then) and him commenting on THAT watch. Few years later: Older me wowing at a magazine advert he showed me of the Tag Monaco. Many more years later: Being an executor and doing all the sad business putting my Dad in the ground... Once I was better: Like yourself Ped, and seeing an opportunity to remember those that you've lost: Mum n dad worked hard to look after Me and my Brother, working Class, but did good. We both came into a bit of Money, like yourself, you don't get these chances many times in life, but wanted something to remember my Dad, so bought the watch he really REALLY wanted, but could could never afford as he was looking after his Family. Did it for him, and also me. Anytime I see that glass square on my wrist, I'm doing what my Dad never could...but know he worked his arse off to give me the opportunity to do. Not about the watch, all about him. And I was born in 1969, so there's that... A reminder, came full circle. the Value more that outweighs the cost. Enjoy your Content Sir, Keep On.

Hey Pet congrats on the Unicorn Watch. It's a great way to remember your parents and something I'll have to keep in mind for myself when the time comes. My dad just past in October and while I haven't mentioned it yet to my mom I would very much like to have his watch to remember him by. We're almost the exact same age you and I and for my 40th I shopped around for my first good quality watch and ended up with a Raymond Weil. I am an international Airline Pilot and had a specific desire to have both DAY and DATE on the watch. Given my schedule is totally unlike anyone else's I'm always loosing track of what day of the week it is. It's been a great watch and I think somewhat underrated. I'm now becoming a bit of a watch fan too and was thinking for my 50th in about 2 years I have my eye on a PANERAI. Anyway enjoyed the video and wouldn't be apposed to more random watch etc. videos. Merry Christmas to you and all your family and followers. Oh and Happy New Year...

I almost purchased a Junghans max bill chronoscope a few years back for my 30th, but as I wear a running watch 24/7 didn't feel it was right to spend £1000+ on a watch I would wear for a dinner out etc. It still remains my fave watch so one day... ps - great video and nice collection.

Fab choice squire & a lovely way to remember your parents daily 😁. I had the Monaco Gulf edition in full livery with beautiful orange stitching to offset the blue. Stunning. But just didn’t get on with the square face & bulk so part-ex’d it for the Carrera 160th bday edition. Purchase didn’t come with the sentimental attachment as yours so was easy done. Can recommend WatchFinder in Royal Exchange, London if you are ever looking for a specific or vintage piece. Best wishes & keep up the cracking content.

Cracking vid Pete. I love Tag's too, and would love a Monaco...hmm, 50th coming up towards end of Feb. My current fave is my Tag Heuer Formula 1 that the Mrs bought be from Watches of Switzerland Heathrow when we flew to the Maldives a couple years ago after a very very scary time for her health-wise. I reciprocated and bought her a Tag too...well actually I took her in there to buy her one in the 1st place, and then got swept along with it ;-)

Actually, today my Monaco Calibre 11 stopped working🤭 I’ve been using it every day for the last 2,5yrs. Doesn’t run anymore... I miss it on my wrist. Will have to make a call to the dealer tomorrow and send it in.

Hi Pete I also share your love of expensive watches, unfortunately not enough disposable income to purchase them. There is something about the precision of a beautiful timepiece that puts a smile on your face it's similar to holding something precious, they just feel special. My last Watch was a Casio Edifice with sapphire glass, nothing worse than scratching the glass on a watch that you love, it puts me into a sulk😃

Nice Ped, Nice! I found your channel when I was doing research on my car. Watches and Cars are a real thing. As men we have few opportunities for accessories. I have a Alfa Romeo Giulia - Veloce and I have a small collection of watches. The Heuer Monaco is next just waiting for the right variation for my wrist.

I have always wanted a Rolex Daytona but the prices are just crazy. I have an Omega Planet Ocean, Longines Flagship, Tag 6000 and a couple of Citizen Radio Controlled Eco Drives for when I am doing things I don't want to expose my good watches to. I am quite happy to leave my watch buying for the moment but I might do the same as you when my remaining parent passes. As a Dad myself, I now appreciate all the sacrifices my parents made for me and the unconditional love they always showed. Parents deserve to be remembered.

My favourite scene in the 2016 Dr Strange movie is early in the film where he is still a neurosurgeon and opens a drawer full of high-end watches before driving off in his Lamborghini Huracan.

Big thumbs up for this passion ped. Love the emotions that come with owning a special watch and the connection we can make with them to important times in our life . Tag aqua racer when my son was born. (Hunter) omega speed master man on the moon when my daughter was born (Luna). Tudor black bay S and G when I graduated university. Raymond Weil Beatles limited edition for my wedding day. Currently in the line of many for a Rolex OP. Awesome vid 👏🏻

Great content! Funny, I also thought Trigger's broom about your first Heuer. Ah yes, watches and cars, not sure if they're a blessing or a curse! I'm currently conducting research into my next watch purchase and a suitable replacement for my M2 Comp. First world problems! I blame my father (R.I.P.) for my obsessions, like your father he was an R.A.F. pilot, anyway, he brought me back a lovely kinetic Seiko 5 from Hong Kong whilst on a long haul mission in the early '70's which I still have and it still works! He was also into cars. So I agree that watches tie into memories in a big way... Good work as always Pete....

My Tag (Formula 1 calibre 5) is off getting serviced just now for £316. Special watch though - got it for Christmas from my wife after I had a heart attack at 45. My other special watch is a 1972 9ct gold Rotary automatic, which was my Granda’s long service watch. I was born in 1971 so nearly as old as I am but it’s still perfect. On the other end of the scale got a cheap Casio calculator watch just as a Back to the Future fun throwback.

There is actually a big contention on who invented the first automatic Chronograph watch. It might have been Zenith with the El Primero, or Seiko but nobody knows for sure as their are no accurate records for exactly when each one was completed. Love the Monaco though 👍. I always liked Tag Heuer as when I was a kid all the official F1 timing was Tag Heuer so thought they must be good!

Watching this and the wife says "what is wrong with you car guys?" I collected a few Tag's for a while (Kirium, Link, TW Golf), sold them all and now have a collection of Breitlings, all of which were bought to celebrate a life event although I still have my Seiko my parents gave me for my 18th, my Animal for my engagement and my Ellesse for my new job, all over 25 years ago. Still wear them all. After watching the podcast my wife said: "remember that Rolex you looked at? "Yes", "you know we went on the bus to go see it" how ironic, we both laughed. Didnt buy it but it sure was pretty. Happy Holidays all, stay safe.

oh man, that starts to be a nice collection. I wish I had thousands of Euros to spend on watches but sadly not the case. Happy with a watch of a few hundreds already. Got an all black Komono and also one from Tissot (with a chain so not for your wrist. (no idea what you call that) Ideal to go with a suit. Nice all white plate with chrome ring and a leather finish around it. So funny to see equal interests. I think it's the design and 'technicality' behind it that gets us going. Thanks for the video and have a very nice Christmas time! Cheers

Lovely sentiments about your parents and congratulations on getting your ultimate watch Pete. The Monaco v4 is on my list (not least because it’s the first micro-belt driven Tourbillon), so even more car like than you maybe thought. Ultimately thought it’s a Panerai Luminor PAM 69 that’s my Eleanor watch. Marine blue face, fully brushed stainless steel case (their first). Still with the iconic enclosed wind down crown due to its naval roots. Not that I’ve obsessed about it for years or anything....

Hi Pete. Great story! For me it has to be the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control. I love everything about that watch- the 'tyre' strap, the face itself with the 'fuel gauge'. Perfect size and not overly blingy. I too inherited money but did choose the security of paying off my mortgage first. I did also treat myself to a MK3 TT with what was left ;) One day, I'll get the Chopard!

Hey Ped. Nice video. Your new watch is beautiful, and a lovely story behind it too. And yes, Steve McQueen is the coolest guy ever! I do like watches, but more that I admire the engineering and craftsmanship behind making them that wearing one. Plus I don't have thousands of pounds to drop on one!

Cracking watches. Im sentimentally attached to my G10 forces issued watch. It’s been with me for thirty years survived the cold of Norway &the heat of Iraq. It’s not expensive but has been on a fair few ops & tours & not let me down. Just one or two straps replaced & the glass front glass. Not expensive but holds many memories. Cracking upload as per 👍🏻

I am a huge watch fan / collector. I have a few very special watches that represent special occasions, and lots of other much cheaper but equally interesting (to me) watches including my grandpa's Rotary. Collection stands at just over 40 watches. 🤦♂️. You can already see the joy that each watch brings you, may you enjoy them forevermore. And much like cars, for me, it is the stories and people behind them that are often far more interesting than the physical objects themselves. Great video as always. 👍

Yes, I think u right, watches and cars are perfectly going together. My first proper watches were fortis b42, proper watches for cosmonauts. I gave it to myself when I was 30. But I'm a fun of 007 agent and 5y ago I bought omega seemaster, again very nice watches. You know in these days there are not many things which are made for astronauts and pornstars, like Jeremy Clarkson said one time about Chevrolet corvette from 60s. And I thing that's a shame...
