Pleased to see they are finally making it safe. Back in the 60's, the pier would be jammed packed with anglers fishing for Mackerel.

Well done , I hope they open it up again, been long over due, I went passed on the boat I go fishing on a few weeks ago and noticed they are makeing it safe once more, 30 years too late, the steps on the right was roughly half way when I was a lad, we used to go mackerel fishing off they great memories 🙏

I was speaking to one of the workmen two days ago and I asked him, is the Hugh going to be open to the public once more, his answer was not what I wanted to hear, "he said no it's not" BUT they are making it safe and the gate what stopping people accessing the pier is going to be reduced as PD ports are fed up of repairing the gates. So in the future it will be more accessible to get over or around to go fishing ect 👌

About time PD ports spent some money on the breakwater, will they be removing the barrier stopping you getting to the end when they have finished the repairs. If they do the fishermen will be over the moon.

As far as I know, the barrier is to remain.
