i moved from using the HP 97 to the HP 41C. i wrote an accounting and data processing programme using multiple data cards. the 41C allowed me to display 'text' and to make my programme easily readable.

Hello there! I bought one of the first ten HP-41 in Sweden. It had a bug, so it didn't calculate correctly. Sadly, I sent it in for repairing and fixed it. Some time after I heard it was great for syntethic programming. One favorite was to let the "goose" fly backwards.. Or make a tone that was five seconds.. You could fix it after repairing by tampering with the memory module. But it was more differcult. You also asked about the HP-97A. The 97 was a 67 with printer. 97A you could connect to a computer and use it as a printer. Nowadays I have the 28S snd Prime (and a 42S that I don't use). Other calculators I had was 11C, 19C, 21, 28C, 29C, 34C, 35, 45, 55, 65 and 67. Nice see it again. Thanks for posting!

Neytiri Hi there! Fellow Swede here. :-) I'm still using my good old 41CV almost every day, it sits here on my desk ready and waiting for work! As I am a programmer I also have a 16C, which I'm holding on to tightly, as it is such a rarity.

I'm not an engineer, just a collector and I enjoy messing around with these calculators. I haven't tried the Swiss Micro calcs but they look good.

And what most people are asking. What are you guys calculating? Is there anything you can't Google. What the heck is there to calculate all the time...🤣🤣

Just a fine point about the memory - the basic 41C had 63 registers (not 64), and each register was 7 bytes. A data location took 1 register; a program step took 1 or more bytes, depending. Each single-memory module adds 64 registers; quad memory module adds 256, for a total of 319; which is 2233 bytes. Which explains your display saying 46 program + 273 data registers (= 319); then after memory re-allocation, 309 program + 10 data (= 319).

@hakanthorngren1406 10 ай бұрын
The basic 41C had 64 register plus 16 stack/state/status registers. The reason you see 63 registers free is that one register is partially occupied by the permanent .END. which occupies 3 bytes in a register. The 63 count are the fully free registers.

Great collection ordered the HP Way Book on seeing yours 2006 version and will think now about getting that Musuem DVD. Also have grabbed a full color scan of the HP41C manual thing of beauty 250MB wow. Looks like the CX is the way to go for a used one with the date functons. Though I just found the incredible CX emulator for iPad amazing work with a printer as well. I am from New Zealand so found the prices fascinating. I recall the price was roughly $1 for £3 at that time. Day to day forgive me I think me I'll be getting the Swiss Miros DM42 as it also has the C43 option though the 41X is tempting now.

Thanks. The Swiss Micro calcs do look tempting. The DM41X looks like what I'll be going for. I also like the landscape model. I use the timer function all the time. So much more convenient to have a calculator on the desk for instant access.

That was quite a sum of money back then. I'm not sure how much my father paid but it was a lot cheaper to buy in Singapore than here in New Zealand.

Bought my 41c at the calculator centre in Lorne St 1980. Spent most of the holiday job saving for it! Indispensable for Bursary/Schol Applied and Pure Maths. Although programmable calculators were around, the examiner didn't bother to check/clear my programme registers. RESULT! Where in NZ did you get so many?

I bought a couple from our local on-line trading site and then on the same site I picked up a couple of calculators and all of the peripherals from a scientific research centre in Wellington. I also picked up some other models from them.

??! Was it in its box? Did it look tossed, or lost? I'd say you have some responsibility to locate its owner and return it, if at all possible. Only if that isn't possible, should you sell it, or gift it, or donate it.
