Glad you found a noisy 6AW8 tube, yep that will do it!! I was thinking of questionable contacts on that rotary turret band switch assembly!!

Marine Air Traffic Control (MATC). It makes sense, since they would have used this generator to repair ATC com. equipment.

It is a possibility that you might have to clean everyone of those contacts on that rotary turret / band selector assembly as it could be suspect with a little dirt or corrosion on them try a little deoxit on a cotton swab end and clean away!

Deox was my first try. As a last resort I used an old tv repairman trick and tapped the tubes. It worked.

ugh. i hate those things!!!! give me my old general radio 100a and ill be happy. those hp are not well structured. good luck with it!
