I havent ever bought any of the hexplore it series, i almost did, but when i got into comparisons of the different ones,the villains kinda all seemed the same type, just slightly different. Now this one feels and looks quite different, i might be interested in actually getting this one. I like the theme better, sounds more interesting. I mean, i liked the series mechanics of exploring and discovering things and a bit of survival stuff, if im not mistaken or thinking of another game.

They are all great and I have all of them 🙂 Each volume feels a little different and each one introduces some new gameplay elements and mechanics (with volume 3 being most complex and advanced). But this one indeed feels most unique with the resource management and tower defense 🙂

Even tho i love the theme and complex games this one might be a skip for now? Forums usually suggest volume 1 or 4 for newcomers, which one would be your pick for a first time purchase of hexplore it? Thank you!

For newcomers I would recommend Volume 1 (maybe together with the campaign book expansion). I think it’s the best way to get into HEXplore it. After that you can get any volume you like the most based on the theme.

Hi - is it possible to carry your character from a previous volume into the new volume, and if so, is character progression retained?

Hey. It’s not possible as every playthrough in „HEXplore It” is a stand alone adventure (I’m not taking about the additional book campaigns here as they are somethig else). You start and finish the adventure in one session 🙂 So there is no point on retaining progress from a previous playthrough. But you can use any role or race from the previous volumes in „Mountains of Godai”. This was always the fun part of this series that you can use roles from any volume.

@@TrybSolo No worries sorry if I came off as aggressive, your video is very well done. I am very excited for this game. The tower defense stuff got my attention but the mesoamerica influence was the main reason why i bought it. Keep up the work!

Not yet 🙂 So far they did campaign books for volume 1 & 2. Probably next will be for volume 3 🙂

Either Vol. 1 or 2 are great for new players. Volume 1 has less rules but also gives you a little less options during the game. So it’s really up to you 🙂 Just don’t start with Vol. 3 😅
