I remember being at that concert and when Bo was playing, you more felt the Base coming up through the floor than heard him sing

I was going through a big Bo Diddley phase at the time so made a sign that said 'GOD' and held it up when Bo started playing. I was in the front row and aged 15-16. I got so much eye contact while he was playing. It was awesome. I've been looking for this concert for years, thanks.

Had the lifetime immense honour of meeting Bo Diddley when he played Moomba one year. For a young kid totally in love with music - and with a 20+ year career in the industry ahead of him at the time - it was a dream come true that was yet to be dreamt!

Don't forget - he invented the Bo Diddley Beat. Interesting to see him out Muddy Muddy Waters, too.

There is dispute as to who wrote I'm A Man. Certainly Muddy and Bo both recorded and released versions. It was the B side of Bo's first single in 1955. Muddy released the song as Mannish Boy, also in 1955.

@ rickeap , MANY thought that Jerry Lee stole the show also Chuck Berry was great !! * Bo Diddley was messing about on " I'm am / Mannish boy " ---- * the real original Rock ' n ' Roll fans don't want that ,they want the original songs like he did live before this gig. ----

@@johnpearce3714 Chuck was great but I thought Jerry Lee was a bit subdued the night I saw them. All were good though, and I loved how Bo made his classics sound more modern
@johnstill1646 ай бұрын
@@johnpearce3714 The "MANY" are entitled to their beliefs, of course, however...Bo Diddley, in MY belief was NEVER considered to be a Rock n Roll artist. He was more of a BLUES musician. I think that HIS contribution the that show was truly memorable! He took the same 'contribution' to Rome, the following year [1989]. I'm sure that any "original Rock n Roll fans" in the audience would have accepted "Bo's Show" [along with the wonderful accompanying musicians]. Chuck Berry did what he had to...nothing more [I saw Chuck a total of four shows...that was his forth for me...not one I would rave about...Still enjoyed it though. I thought The Everley Brothers were terrific...from the Rock n Roll era...but NOT "Rock n Roll". I think that, Jerry Lee may have just about made the gig...seen him many times, since 1957...very disappointing on that occasion...Cole Joy made a decent job as compere...I would suggest, John, that you would enjoy LEGENDS OF ROCK N ROLL [dvd]. From Rome 1989...[EV Classics]. Incidentally, I was born in 1938...which set me up nicely for the BEGINNING of ROCK and ROLL. I'm still rockin' at 85.5 years YOUNG!! My best to you!! :)

It was Jim Satten on lead guitar, Mike Fink on drums, Rusty Cloud on Keys and Debbie Hastings on Bass.Jim Satten left the band in 1991.

And Bo was sad to see both Rusty and Jim leave but, it wasn’t Bo’s band, it was Talent Consultants International’s (Margo Lewis) band. In dispute with Lewis, Bo refused to pay the bands income taxes in 2005/06. In what Bo’s family’s attorney felt was a dastardly move, the “Debby Hastings Band” taxes were paid by Bo’s former executor after Bo couldn’t say “Ain’t no way.”

@mettanc Sorry for the delay Michael. Yep, this was televised, "live" i think, back in 1989. The actual concert toured Oz's main capital cities, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, all in '89, and these clips are all from the Melbourne concert. Cheers, and have a great year !!
