All I can say is don't give up on dota please this content is peak. Also don't judge heroes that seems to be useless even if you recognize that you don't have enough expirience to play them well, some heroes just can't win against some other heroes, it feel expecially true because of the A-Z chalenge and lack of knowing of matchups.

This, don't judge Dota 2 from WC3 or even Dota 1 perspective, it will be very confusing. Take it as a totally new and different game and approach it from fresh 0 knowledge mindset. Then it will be so easy to learn and not develop misconceptions.

In Dota, there's a question you always have to be asking yourself, "what can I be doing, right now, to make gold?" I don't think there's a hero where that question is more important than Alchemist. Since his early game is so weak, he wants his lane to be as close to his tower as possible, without the tower killing the creeps. Something that safe laners (bottom lane Radiant/top lane Dire) can do to control how much their lane pushes is pull the easy camp (the camp closest to the lane) into the creep wave as it walks to lane. This is done by just attacking the camp and dragging it into the wave as it approaches. Usually, the lane creeps will easily clear the easy camp, so an extension of this can be done by then pulling the nearby hard camp to the easy camp as the creeps finish clearing. This is a bread and butter technique for safe laners, since you can use it to deny an entire wave's worth of gold and xp to the enemy off laners. If the lane is just gonna push, no matter what, though, Alchemist can use Acid Spray to hard shove the wave into the enemy tower to reset the lane. Another technique for minor lane manipulation is creep aggro. Lane creeps are very protective of their team's heroes and will rush to defend their honor at the slightest hint of aggression. This means laners can manipulate the wave to a safer state by ordering an attack on an enemy hero. Any hero. Anywhere on the map. If a hero top right clicks an enemy hero in the bottom lane, the creeps in the top lane will still treat this as an act of aggression and move to attack. This is useful because it pulls the enemy melee creeps behind the allied melee creeps so whichever hero is farming doesn't have to walk up as far to last hit. I also don't think I can talk about Alchemist without talking about stacking. Nobody farms like Alchemist. Acid Spray placed properly can allow him to double farm camps, so he benefits from stacking them, immensely. By default, pressing ALT will allow you to see the spawn boxes for jungle camps. To stack a camp, the jungle creeps inside the box have to be outside the box when a new minute rolls around. An unstacked camp should be pulled around 53 - 54 seconds to the minute, depending on the neutral creeps spawned, to successfully stack them. The more stacks of a camp the earlier it has to be pulled.

There's a lot of people of dubious skill in chat though. Also, often even the best advice gets lost out of context like in the case of the radiance item purchase, chat tells him that he shouldn't have bought talisman first but without context grubby thought they meant to build a different item altogether. For the time being, I think grubby should have a friend handy that can jump in and out to explain things briefly and clearly.

As a former immortal player, it warms my heart when I see a WC3 legend playing Dota 2 in 2022 lol. I started with Brood War to WC3 to DotA to Dota 2 then back to SC remastered. Lemme tell you, you will learn this game at a fast pace due to your familiarity with WC3 and it will be very rewarding if you stick to the end. Cheers.

guide is really good for item and skill build, but they don't tell you how to do the gameplay style for example, juggernaut who you did play before is a carry that can play semi aggresive. You probably can fight when the ult is up meanwhile heroes like alchemist is really dependent on items, so you probably need radiance first and maybe also bkb to join the fight and also the series before, Abaddon is a support that primarily sit back and use spells for saving teammates, so you already doing good for that. what lacking is doing your support duty, like buying wards and dust

Some alchemist tips: your W can deny yourself. Acid pool kills the weak jungle camp easy early. Acid pool between 2 jungle camps then pull them both in to minimize damage and secure both. Acid pool the creep wave if it’s not safe to be on it so u can at least get more than 0 gold. Ultimate gives a bunch of hp regeneration, so feel free to use it as a heal after a lot of jungling.

It's really cool seeing WC3 players get into dota. I learned so many tricks from yall knowing the ins and out of warcraft so much and those mechanics carry over to dota 2 perfectly. Like losing creep aggro by attack moving allied units, body blocking and a few others. EDIT: this game was really unlucky, OD is a very punishing hero to play against, Alche needs space to thrive.

Some advise overall: -If you check out the hero, look at the guide and read the early game items and what they do. -you lose a lot of cs because you try to deny, but cs is way more important -use tangos and send new ones to keep your hp always obove 50%, otherwise your enemies will engage and keep you out of the lane, they be more aggressive if your hp is low, same goes for mana, if they see that you're oom, they will engage, don't spam your abilities (doesn't apply for each hero) -if you die, go to death recap and read your opponents abilities, that helps alot to understand what actuelly killed you and how to avoid it

I have been playing DotA since childhood for 12 years already. I would never have thought that the moba genre is so difficult to master, especially DotA against the background of other mobs. It always seemed that many basic actions are very primitive, easy to learn and understandable for any person. But looking at how such a strong Warcraft 3 player suffers with banal things in DotA, I'm a little shocked. As for me, you need to watch some training videos and replays of the games of professional players in positions to understand the required actions from one position or another.

I get the idea of learning while playing but it would be a good idea to get at last the basic concept with tutorials. Because playing with someone like that, and then he even is you hard carry, is like super frustrating for the rest of the team.

Dont be passive in lane bro, try to hit(harass) enemy heroes whenever there is a chance(with attack/spells), to deplete their resources, so they will be more afraid to hit you back. You can bring more heal later using your mule, so at first you can get some damage/stats and one pack of tangoes to last hit better and have enough sustainability. Your next hero is Axe, you should skip boots and go for "Vanguard" then you can skip enemy creeps between their tier1&tier2 towers without worrying much. Hope this can help you a bit! It's nice to see new players in DotA.

thats too advance for a beginner and should stay away from it just yet. It's better to learn at his own pace and just have fun naturally

@@khaelmonk2279 sure its the basics, but Grubby is already struggling getting last hits so it is not possible for him to aggro and such yet. He is also still slow when pressing his items like to heal, etc. just getting any item during the beginning of the game is okay for beginners!

@@defiantjv2920 i saw his last stream with dondo, hes already good with aggro, mechanics are quite similar to wc3, so Grubby's good at getting everything quickly

@@khaelmonk2279 yeah i wasnt as good as Grub back when I first started playing either but its natural for Grub to be better in terms of mechanics

You may know this now since you've been at it for a while , but ... If you cannot cs on perticular champion , forget denying. You're missing cs , becuse of going for deny's . Your own gold is more important and more importantly on Alchemist who has Gold buff. Isn't it logical to get more bonus gold rather than denies.

DotA doesn't engage in hand-holding nor does it pull it's punches. It's the caveman Moba. I would focus more on core mechanics like last hitting and map awareness in the beginning.
