@@ukulelechicken4814 i come from the other way around. I got into sf6 +other 2d games like gg accent core +r/melty blood cuz of Sajam/majin obama content and the slams. I mostly played tekken, VF, SC and dabbled in doa casually. So stuff like jump-ins, anti-airs, overheads, invincible DPs, airdashing, crossups and blockstrings were all foreign concepts and hard to understand until i sat down and watched other begginers learn to play.

Sajam! Pro tip actually, if you pause while waiting for a match it cancels matchmaking, and when you unpause you make a new connection, and usually that gets me a match faster than waiting on (what I'm guessing) is the equivalent of sitting down at an arcade cabinet waiting for someone else.

I guess the only things allowed to die in _Tekken_ games are backstory characters, Kings, and female characters' relevance once they "dare" become biologically 40. At least Kuma II will be happy.

@MusicoftheDamned I'll also say that while it's not as bad as the female characters, Baek, Wang, Forest, and Bruce also got shafted as the series went on. I don't necessarily care for every character always coming out in every game because I do like story progression, but it would be nice if characters who were meant to get killed off for stakes actually did instead of surviving just to disappear because of whatever reason there may be.

Prowess based matchmaking is so stupid. If you play a bunch of characters a little bit, your prowess shoots up and either there's no one in your rank/prowess combo so you can't find a game or you are constantly matched against way better players who got all that prowess on one character.

I genuinely think this is what killed the population of the game. I play a bunch of different characters and dont really have a main so I got orange rank with 4 of them and 1 to red and I was having to wait like 5 or more minutes for a match each time and this was back in like May, so it's no suprise to see things haven't got better

@@boredgamer8995 yeah player count has been stable since May, pretty much everyone who was gonna quit stopped somewhere between March and the end of May and the population has been the same since then. You basically have to fight your way up to where your prowess and rank are relatively similar for matchmaking to work okay then it is fine but it is frustrating. I hope they fix it for season 2

@@alexonstott4954 fair enough, I just meant part of the reason I jumped like probably a few others was that even then it was taking too long to get back into matches. Even 15 months into street fighter 6 it takes me like 30 seconds 2 get into a match whereas I think the update that happened in like late Feb I think that was in response 2 people complaining about bumping into higher skill people who were on a secondary character hurt it even back then. By May if I'd had a fight and wanted to get right back in it'd take 5 or so minutes and that's just frustrating

I don't think you can attribute the natural fall off of players to some specific mechanic or system. Almost all games follow a similar curve where more than half of the initial players leave after a few months. You see bumps when DLC comes out and on weekends, but you're never going to retain your launch numbers in almost any game. Plus a ton of players are on PS5 and I don't think there's a reliable way for the public to track those numbers.​@@alexonstott4954

He's referring to how most fighting games will save the last direction + reset position so you don't have to hold the direction every time.

​@@1000Tomatoesyou can do that in Tekken as well, just hit remember position then recall it. You can keep a position and reset and then go back to the position later as well so long as you don't overwrite it or switch characters or stages
