Wow I loved every second of this video. So much eye candy. The stories behind the find or pickup. You crushed it with this one my friend. Geez….I can’t choose a card that blew me away more than the Ruth, which there’s footage for!!! That’s so cool. Thank you for participating my friend. Now start rooting for my Yankees 💪👑

Hi Jim! It’s awesome you have a rotary phone. I’m sure that ring is great to hear. I enjoyed hearing why you collect vintage. The memories you have with father and grandfather about players is precious. It’s great you still have his cards. You have an amazing vintage collection, Jim. Love how you go about it and pick up your items. Thanks for the nice words and shoutout. I was happy to share that video with you.

Thanks Andy! This was a fun video to do! The cards are fantastic but the memories, stories and history of the players make this hobby awesome! I always love to research and learn! I think the John Fogarty video is great and so cool that there’s video of Ruth climbing up on that car, I am very appreciative that you told me about that! Thanks for your awesome comment as always my friend! Have a nice weekend!

I have a cousin who inherited his grandparents property. In the kitchen there was a rotary phone on the wall with a MasterCharge logo on it. Sure it was a gift from the bank. Or from a MasterCard catalog. This was in 2011-12. For his family, I hope he hung onto that. Finding any older touchtone phone is hard enough. Any rotary phones are gems at this point. EDIT: Accidentally hit an emoji key and HAD to remove it. Those things are just ridiculous.

Fantastic share here Jim. Loved seeing the Jimmy Foxx and Eddie Waikus, 53 Topps Matthews, Kaline RC and Paige. Red Hearts, Leaf and Playballs! As much as i do enjoy the flagship but... not the crazy numbered modern day cards because i think those are overhyped and ridicoulus. I believe that we are currently seeing history being written today. I know it is kinda a weird concept to think about it that way. But....There is something special about Vintage and I have always favored Vintage as well. Always enjoy.

Hi Jim, I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on why you love collecting vintage cards. It is great to see cards that your dad had as a kid. I agree with you on the character that the older cards have. It is not something that you can just replicate on a modern card. The story, age and connection that the cards evoke give the cards character. I knew you had cards given to you by your dad but didn’t know you had a few from when he was a kid. That is so awesome. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy seeing your collection and hearing you talk about it. Have a great weekend.

I collect new cards the same way I collect vintage: I only care about flagship, I want the main set, a Red Sox team set, and the Hall of Famers. I don't chase (or care for) all the "sparkly bullshit." My collection isn't worth that much, but I *HAVE* *FUN* collecting. And that's the real point.

Over the last 3-4 years I’ve been shocked how much card values tank once a player retires. The 1997-2006 cards have been my big thing lately. The years I was out of the hobby. All those expansions 2004 NFL and 2003-04 NBA cards are now affordable and I love it. Built some sets I thought I’d never be able to own. And if you’re into current stuff just give it a few months. The prices drop significantly after about a month after release date. But even more if you hold out 3-6 months at least. This strategy is the only reason I was able to finally build a Prestige Football set w/ SP cards. And I built two actually, the 2020 and 22 sets. Master sets, most inserts were under a dollar. Not sure what to do in 24, probably buy a Donruss factory set and call it a year. And I’ll build Donruss Basketball masters, hobby and retail inserts.

Thanks for taking some time to watch and I appreciate your awesome comment! It’s a great time to be a collector, prices are down and it’s a buyers market. Like everything else it goes in cycles, 4-5 years ago everything was overpriced. As long as you enjoy what you are doing that’s the most important thing! Sounds like you’ve been working on some beautiful sets!
