Thank you for this beautiful tutorial. I have a book event that I’ll be an author at next September and I plan on doing this to my hardcovers and selling them.

Oh my, your house in the forest is an absolute dream come true!! That took me by surprise, I was so engaged in following you along the process. 😄 So I just had to comment! Thank you for showing the whole process, I started edge painting books but it's so time consuming and I think I'll soon purchase a Cricut. Your video was very helpful

I love this tutorial! Thank you! Have you tried Cricuts stencil vinyl for this?

I have not, but I bet it would work! Glad you liked the tutorial!

I love this tutorial so much! Have you ever tried this with multiple paint colors? For example, spraying the edges solid purple, laying the vinyl on top of that, and then spraying them again with solid black to create a multi-layer colored effect? I have several books I would like to do this to, but wanted to get some input before trying it out with layers.
@HeyLetsMakeStuff2 ай бұрын
I have not. I've seen some people use small airbrushes to get a multi color look. I think what you're describing would also work and look really cool!

If your clamps have a deep enough throat, put them on from the back, so they are not in your way. :)

Mine didn't clamp as well from the back because they weren't quite deep enough! I needed the larger clamps, ha!

Are these normal spray paints? Or is there’s some special paints for books? I really want to try this but afraid I’d destroy them 🥺
@HeyLetsMakeStuff16 күн бұрын
These are normal spray paints! Just do LIGHT coats so that it doesn't gloop on there and get too crunchy :)

I don't, but I basically repeated the pattern and then put it in a rectangle the same size as my pages. I should do a full tutorial, though! Thanks for the suggestion.

my thing tho that i have a problem with is creating and sizing it to the book. I want to create my own designs so that i can add it to my favorite books, and then size them. how do I create the designs?
@HeyLetsMakeStuff6 ай бұрын
I make my designs in Adobe Illustrator (see my free series here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn-ul6NnqLaIe8k). I measure the size of the book when it's closed and make my design that size. You could also do it in Cricut Design Space or InkScape or another program.

I couldn’t make it two minutes (literally) into this video because of the incessant uptalk. For god sakes just talk normal, or take a speech class to learn how to talk so listeners are engaged. I’ll watch someone else do this to learn.
