I’ve seen you mention the bottle thing in other videos too and just wanted to throw out there for new moms that if you start bottles early, chances are baby will take a bottle no problem and they don’t care what kind. I breastfed both my babies, the first until 17 months and my son is 8 months and still nursing, and I started one bottle per day pumped milk when they were a few days old and never did they reject bottle or breast, and I used a different kind of bottle with each kid and they didn’t care. If you wait longer, generally babies will reject any type of bottle you give them. I just didn’t want to scare new moms or make them think you need 5 different kinds of bottles. If you choose to start using them right away and stay consistent, they don’t care what kind.

Nipple confusion is what I’m so afraid of! I want to exclusively breastfeed for at least a year, but I’ve only heard horror stories of how moms gave a bottle, and then the baby refused the breast and only preferred the bottle 😭 I’m terrified of that happening to me so idk if I could introduce a bottle early. Any tips appreciated!
@stephanieruddock13863 жыл бұрын
@Grace Upon Grace Productions you definitely want to have a good latch established first, but nipple confusion is so incredibly rare. I have never experienced it. My babies ALWAYS preferred the boob over a bottle, but they took the bottle if that was the only option 😅 Definitely speak with a lactation consultant, but in my experience, pumping and giving a bottle a day has never been an issue. I would usually pump in the evenings so my husband could put the baby to bed. Always pump if you give a bottle to match the milk supply. My son is now 13 months and going strong with nursing and takes bottles while at daycare/with sitters no problem. If you aren’t consistent, they won’t remember and won’t take bottles sadly.

I have had two babies and pretty much agree with you. But have to comment that infant carseat is always better and safer for an infant. And you can always sterilize things by boiling them so you don't really need all those microwave sterilising kits. And if you are pumping, you don't need to sterilize all the parts after every use if you can keep them in fridge in a bowl of water.

1- I loved your videos throughout my pregnancy and now even more as a new mom, I feel like we have a similar mindset / approach to parenting (kinda minimalist, Montessori-eque, attachment parenting style that questions what Americans are currently doing compared to the rest of the world) and similarly particular babies who want to do what they want not what traditions says they should want 2- it’s so weird/cool to hear my name in your videos now 😂 I’m the only Alea I know of other than the singer (I was Not named after 😂) 3- I used your minimalist registry video to help with my own, not knowing anything I’d need, as well as the many comments people left suggesting other items...and there’s a few similar regrets in our house: my baby has always hated all styles of swaddles and the snuggle me organic too, we also have way too many baby blankets (and I only registered for one of them 😂) 4- things you mentioned I totally second as Essential: bottle sanitizer with a dryer is so necessary, the haaka, gift cards, the book instead of a card baby shower idea, Ca baby co popup playpen, nursing cover and nursing bras/tops for easy access, and breast pads for leakage.. we have a few others but haven’t taken them out of the box cuz baby is only 3 months and not sitting up yet (activity center, and high chair) 5-things you didn’t mention that were essential for us: nipple shield (my baby had a tongue and lip tie and could only breastfeed using it until 2.5 months when she was strong enough to latch without it), baby bath that transitions from infant to toddler, Konny baby carrier (super soft and easy to put on and baby loves being in it, I carry her more than my family thinks I should, it’s one of the only ways she’ll nap in the late afternoon), basic cloth diapers make the best burp cloths, soft bibs for the nonstop baby drool/spit up that can soak a cute outfit surprisingly fast, anti colic bottles (I didn’t know not all bottles are designed to prevent gas so when we first introduced a bottle she got horrible gas until we discovered the tommy tippee short fat one), onesies with double zippers or reverse zippers so their whole body doesn’t have to be uncovered for diaper changes, we also have used the tiny top hat potty for EC since she was 5 weeks old (now at 3 months she rarely poops in diapers just pees in them, I totally recommend looking into that during pregnancy since I was not prepared for how many diapers a fresh newborn could go through in an hour span before i gave birth 🤪), water wipes, frida baby nail clippers (have a little window so you can see where you’re cutting their teeny nails), a pumping bra so you can be hands free when pumping (without the expensive hands free styles of pumps), oh and a really big water bottle for that breastfeeding thirst

@whitney32583 жыл бұрын
I love the boppy carrier too, it's the one I recommend. You get the best of both in the sense it clips around waist so it's got some support. But then wraps around the top so it feels nice and snug. Plus I can get it on without help lol very important.

Mom of 1y old here , helping a friend with a list . snot sucker- used a lot, thermometer- used a lot but in the ear one (yes there ones like that), haacka- not working for low supply , bottle box - great, activity center- pretty bad per our pediatrician, never needed - floor works wonders, jogging stroller - ours just had a converter for infant seat (Bob)

We're thinking of getting that mult-function pack n play for downstairs and just have the bassinet/crib for upstairs. Thoughts?

I would totally use the baby Tupperware for portion control. I’ve noticed I feel healthier when I pack lunch for work that’s 1-2 cups in size, since at home I could sit and graze for an hour, and then feel too full. Saw a video of a couple who lost weight simple by eating the recommended service size that’s labeled on everything. That seems easier than restricting oneself of yummy things, tho I had success with keto before I got lazy about sticking to it. Sorry for rambling, you look healthy as it is, maybe someone in the comments could find this helpful at least. 😅

The only thing I disagree with personally is the pack and play. We got lucky with our second and she wouldn't want to cuddle or snuggle, she just wanted to lay down and put herself to sleep and she slept in our room in the pack and play from 2 months until almost 7 months old and it was amazing. Every baby obviously is different but this was gold for us

Agree! We used the bassinet part of the pack and play up to six months in our room. We’ll prob use it for travel or at the grandparents afterwards. Thanks for the recommendation on California Beach Co. I already placed an order!

The fun things about moms and babies is we all need different things. I am pregnant with my 4th and I have used a pack n play with all of them. We have a lot of traveling throughout the year since my family is 3.5 hrs away and my husband's is 14 hours away. If we did not have a pack n play I would always be stressing about where to safely put my child while I am taking care of the others and or while sleeping. It is in the top 10 things that I MUST have with a baby. Yet for you it was useless, it's fun to watch these for me.

My MIL wants the best fanciest stuff for her first grandchild. She begged me to get the mom cozy swing and I was begging her to please stop talking about it. She found the mom cozy for $40 on marketplace and bought it. I couldn't be mad, $40 for a $200 item is a pretty good deal, and I can resell it if baby hates it. The thing is brand new, the sellers said their baby hates it!
@mg7252 жыл бұрын
I think it's really important to talk about which items are ok to get second-hand and which ones you absolutely should NOT ever get second-hand, like car seats, cribs and strollers and I feel like a lot of these videos that encourage second-hand don't clarify that. Some things are worth spending the money on and you still don't have to splurge for the most expensive stuff, which is usually not even "the best" anyway. Car seats and cribs especially are safety items that a lot of babies do, have and will die in so it is NOT worth getting them used because their safety and effectiveness is compromised at that point. Car seats especially. Please folks, just don't buy them used or accept them used as gifts unless you personally know and trust the giver completely, you KNOW it is has never been in a car accident, you KNOW it has all the parts and functions properly, still has the instruction manual, that it's not out of date, recalled or anything like that. Babies are expensive, you can save on some things but not on others. Where your baby's life is involved, yes absolutely buy the brand-new thing.

The miamily carrier has a carrier plus the seat which was always amazing
@bobtheblob033 жыл бұрын
A good carrier would be an onbuhimo. It does back carry (for older babies) so easily, and they are higher up than other carrier types I’ve used, and they can see over your shoulder! It’s great for babies that love to forward face because they can still see. The ones I’ve seen (happy baby and Sakura bloom) are hip healthy!
@hamiltonhome93903 жыл бұрын
Not all front facing carriers are bad for baby. Look for a carrier that is certified by what I think is called the nation hip dysplasia group ? They have more support.

It's crazy how different every parent & baby is! Like the Haaka has been useless for me. It's not like I wasn't getting anything but my baby HATED it. She knows when it's on and she hits it off. Same if I try to pump. She screams and cries. The second I stop she stops crying. It's madness. We also did a bassinet in our bedroom, pack n play in the living room and crib in her nursery. It's been absolutely PERFECT for us. Especially with a c section. It was nice to have a place for baby to sleep in every room I was hanging out in.

Dr. Brown is the best for bottles. I have two boys and both are very different. Yet both took Dr. Brown first time I introduced it. Do get the Babylist bottle box because it brings a Dr. Brown in it either way and a few others so you can try which one. But trust me. Can’t go wrong with the Dr.
