Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again - Press Conference - Pierce Brosnan, Andy Garcia, Jeremy Irvine

There was something in the air that night - when the greatest ABBA songs gave Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and an all star cast the greatest movie musical of all time - Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the ABBA-inspired sequel complete with Dancing Queens and Kings aplenty including Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Lily James, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Jeremy Irvine, Julie Walters, Celia Imrie and Cher!
Joining the cast for two UK press conferences for Mamma Mia 2 were Andy Garcia, Hugh Skinner, Christine Baranski, Jessica Keenan Wynn and Alexa Davis. The story is by Richard Curtis, it was written and directed by Ol Parker, based on Judy Craymer and Catherine Johnson’s original musical and, of course the music of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad of ABBA.

In this sequel to Mamma Mia!, Sophie learns about her mother's past while pregnant herself. Discover Donna's (Meryl Streep, Lily James) young life, experiencing the fun she had with the three possible dads of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried). Sophie is now pregnant. Like Donna, she'll be a young mother, and she realizes that she'll need to take risks like her mother did.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is released in the UK on the 20th of July.

I love the movie Mamma Mia the first one. And then when the other one came out Mamma Mia here we go again. Wow that movie I think every since it's been out I've watched it maybe 30 times it just rings a lot of happiness in mine my heart just did see these people how much they love each other and how much they care and I love the funny parts. The part I really really do like is where Lily James and Bill Young bill on the boat singing and dancing. And you know what I'll probably watch this movie another 30 times lol it's so good and everyone that played in it wonderful wonderful people

It's difficult to understand that so far no journalist, no one! seems to have noticed that Andy Garcia is an accomplished musician, that had the vision to found CineSon label and production Co where he directed the documental film "Like his Rhythm there is no other" at 1991, about the life of musician Israel López (Cachao). From then on, he went to producing (in the musical and business sense) Cachao's CDs that won 1994 and 1995 Grammy awards. It doesn't stop there, at 2001 he produced "For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story" again single handedly reviving another latin jazz master's story, a TV film which was nominated to a Golden Globe and an Emmy award, plus Mr. García also produced its soundtrack, in this case awarded with the Emmy. At around the same time, his newly produced CDs with Cachao at 2000 and 2001 won additional Grammys in both years. Andy has also composed songs for movies " (Steal Big, Steal Little)" and others, extra musical info that informed Journals should had noticed. However his main contribution - as I see it - is his very special MUSICIANSHIP EAR that picked such deep musicians having at the time a kind of shadowed talent, and made them shine in the studio. Important but secondary is his personal involvement in getting these masters and using all his might and professional resources into transferring that talent into successful albums (and films). When you realize that much of the after 70s Latin BRASS arrangements were thin sounding... as shown by Hollywood and most prominent recordings coming from Miami (Sound Machine studios), on the steps of sparse and declining Fania and Nuyorican 80s and 90s recorded output... meant that a sound-wise rescue was needed, and Andy brought just that. Listen to the lushness of all his Brass instruments productions. He puts and end to that shout-y and hyper-thrill of ensembles that dominated the late 80s and 90s Latin studio recordings (even on Estefan productions which enjoyed a fame surge at the time), let alone the deepness of the most mature tunes included on his produced albums. ///Arturo Sandoval has had some very good recordings in the past, but listen to Andy's closely produced music and you'll find he conveys body and tone, in full moving listening experiences. ...Not unlike what Cher was serenading on him with her Fernando rendition, btw.

I thought he was very accurate in answering both questions. He said that it was not his decision to film in Croatia (he is only the director after all - his job is to make the movie wherever the directors decide they want to make it) but that it was the producers decision due to economic reasons, meaning costs. Croatia is probably cheaper to make a movie, and especially a movie like this with such a big cast the cost are very high. The 'Dancing Queen' scene alone had over 150 actors and dancers in it and the crew was also just as big too. He said that he would have liked to have filmed the movie in Greece so that Greece would get the money which they need badly. As for the decision to make Donna a ghost, he was clear that the priority was to choose the best storyline for the movie... and the best most emotional one included killing Donna's character and having her appear as a ghost/spirit. He said that everyone even Meryl Streep was in agreement with that.

That’s why we didn’t see the people from the first one, I was looking for some of the locals who sang and danced, or just stayed out of the way, but I’ve heard about the Greek they are very kind and respectful, would offer everyone food or drink for just very, very kind people. I did see the young man who was after Tonya ( Christina ) dancing around, would have liked to see him more, he’s there for a reason, and he’s so cute, young, but beautiful, he’s beautiful.

Donna's mother in the first Mamma Mia movie was said to be a strict Catholic telling Donna not to come home after becoming pregnant. Catholic guilt was even mentioned. This doesn't really work with Cher's character as the grandmother. What do you think?

I am very disappointed. Why would you let out in interview that Donna has died? Why do that "spoiler"? I, for one, am now going into this film disappointed, instead of with great joy. I have been counting down the time til this movie comes out, and I will still go to watch it, but now I am sad without even seeing it. Thank you, Gay Star News, for bringing up the new music and Frida and Agnetha. I’m pissed that Benny and Björn rarely call them by their names... typically ‘the girls’... it shows a lack of respect for the artistry they brought to the music. As so many covers, and these movies have shown, no one sings them as well as the originals. At least give them the recognition for their contributions to the music. Björn sort of does here, but again can bring himself to call them by their names.
