Across middle east political negotiations take place through threats, intimidation and violence. Firing rockets or violence against Israel contains message for domestic political opponents. The 10/7 Hamas government attack on Israel contained message to political opposition within Gaza and also subdued residents. Only they misjudged Israel's response. Freedom for Gazans and West Bank means internal democracy and free speech . Nationhood requires working with discipline and diligence and cooperation with neighbours. Peace will come when hostages are released.
