When safety assurance is critical and reliability is a must, Reotemp Instruments offers an MS8 with three layers of material redundancy. Let's take a look at our HF Safety Gauge.
Primarily designed for Alkylation units, the Reotemp HF Safety Gauge is made up of four crucial components. The lower housing and Diaphragm both of which are wetted to the process media. The Upper housing and Pressure gauge which are non-wetted to the process fluid. Each of these components are made of the same material, in this case the material of construction is Monel A400. These various layers of redundant material ensure our assembly is in compliance with the EPA’s strict rules regarding dual containment. Dual containment is hyper-critical to the effectiveness of our assembly, should there be a diaphragm breach the upper housing and pressure gauge tube/socket will be chemically compatible with the acid media. This allows time for an operator to replace the unit before a catastrophic failure could arise.
Like our standard MS8, the HF Safety Gauge is a fully welded system. This cuts out the need for an internal mating gasket as well as eliminating any potential leak or permeation paths. The all-welded feature also ensures the assembly is tamper proof to avoid an operator onsite from mistakenly removing the gauge.
The unit comes standard with an acid detecting paint. Should a leak occur, and the process fluid has a PH of 3 or lower, the yellow paint will change color to a bright red. This visual indication is imperative for operators to see that a leak has occurred, and they can now safely shut down the line and repair/clean as needed.
Some additional features that come standard with our HF Safety Gauge include a blow-out back case which will allow the gauge to purge process media safely in the event of a catastrophic failure. The assembly is cleaned per ASME B40.1 Level IV and Shipped in a Sealed Bag. The goal is to have the assembly ready for installation in a process media that could be reactive to silicone-based lubricants, our cleaning expels that concern. The gauge comes standard with a service alert on the dial front and rear of the gauge as well. This will allow operators to see, from either side of the assembly, what media this unit is currently installed in which in turn minimizes accidental disassembly from the customers process line.
Safety is central to the units that Reotemp designs and manufactures. We look forward to supplying you with the highest quality material for whatever your application demands. Give us a call and let one of our highly skilled team members assist you today.
