Hey there everyone! I never enjoy negative reviews on games, much less games I've been eager to play for years. However, it's a goal on my channel to also inform people from making (potentially) bad decisions on games as well. Builders of Egypt looked incredible. Sadly, the gameplay didn't live up to the hype. I too had it on the radar for 5 years. And that Aztec sim just disappeared from Steam like a week ago.

I had concerns about this one. It was on my wishlist for a little while, and then I noticed all the buildings in the video that I saw were not constructed - rather they just snapped down. Some games can pull it off, like Anno, but most games cannot. Rather, it tends to be a warning sign that there is something wrong with the game development.

3:22 This is unrelated to everything else, but the gods look... well, the art is fairly good objectively, but: - Set looks like an anteater with an eye problem rather than a lean killer. - Horus looks like his chair is really uncomfortable and he's waiting for the meeting to be over. - Bastet has no mouth.

*Havoc* , even if they fixed the issues that you mentioned would this really be a compelling title? Say, more compelling than the new version of Pharoah or the truly excellent Nebuchadnezzar game? I de-Wish Listed this game some time ago. The demo was underwhelming (read: boring) and when I saw their page for Builders of Greece (and others) I had major doubts that they had the time, drive and/or skill to make this a compelling game.

I forgot the game exists, but these are weird issues indeed. Kinda reminds me on the weird UI issues with another city builder set in mesoamerica.

How are there so many ancient city builders coming out? I count at least five or more in the last year.

@@azarisLP it’s what PlayWay does. They build fake pages, and on doing well enough, find a dev to make them.
