This is by far one of the best scifi literary works I've come a cross. The characters are so well written and thought out, the almost feel like real people and i am absolutely invested in their lives and rooting for them. I love the way Wyatt is a simple man who values life above all and for whom, in the cockpits, there are no commoners or bluebloods, but his comrades, brothers in arms for whom he'd lay down his life if necessary, even if some of them have yet to see it. But I'm sure they will see it soon enough. Wyatt is the kind of a man legends will be written about long after he's gone.

I think they're trying a xanatos gambit. A plan in which every possible outcome benefits them in some way. If draymore wins easily, they benefit. How? I don't know yet. If he doesn't, the principality is weakened and the Drazzan and Arebians capture some systems, feed and slaves. This also benefits them somehow. Even if worst case the prince wins quickly, their allies still gain feed and slaves from the conflict. They essentially can't lose.

And that sutle rewarding "due to concerns voiced by Wyatt" makes that even after he was to be "punished" shows that Wyatt is not after personal glory but victory by superior equipment.

Whow. Any idea that Istanel is a decent person got really destroyed in this episode. Whow. Btw., Istanel going to eat makes sense - there may be a battle looming, but everyone will rest and eat before it gets hot. I start liking Jincho, though - he is surprisingly good. Definitely a good member of Wyatt's entourage. I Wonder what he will find when he digs into the Noir Navio. There must be some stuff in the databanks. I cannot imagine that all the equipment has no manufacturer's marker. And there is so much logistics involved, even an AI may overlook something in the databases when scrubbing it. The Pilots - whow. They need to start training them properly - many are just empty heads it seems. Losses normally must be insane. One wonders how Redford ever survived to raise in rank.

@@ThomasTomiczek I've said this before, Commoners and Nobles alike are both Brainwashed, the Commoners to think they are worthless, the Nobles to think that they are superior, once you understand that and realise the behaviour is engrained this starts to make far more sense, Think about those nobles that we have been introduced to who we all loke, most of them have had something occur to them that has changed them, Clara, Cynthia, Gregor, Nultar and Galt, have all experienced things that changed them and perhaps made them question the way things are, I suspect Redford as well, or perhaps he is simply old enough to realise the system is broken, note that he's only a commander, you would think with the respect house Astor shows him he would be an Admiral

You fault people for doing as they think best, but along comes one Whyatt Staples who is grounded in principles and values, and those doing their best are getting challenged. Whyatt learned in the last episode about lower royalty, will they learn about values and principles? Can both learn from the other and rise out of this stronger?

I have read this Part a few times since yesterday and savored an increased understanding of the Principality with its long term class structure. Next step in the thought process was to extrapolate how this future Principality could easily have developed from both past and current empires here on Earth. Certainly thinking of the British Empire, other past Empires, the current societal difference between the have and have not plus the rat race to succeed. I can highly relate to Wyatt Staple's character. I would be out of my depth with those political machinations to determine the existence of an unknown hidden benefactor and the most likely ones. Certainly got great expectations for future parts of this story when Jink will be given permission to gather further data about the builders of the black ships. Great writing for the display of theatrics and almost Machiavellian tag team performance directed against the 3 groups of pilots. Instead of an expected dressing down, the underlying reasons for the noble's complaints have been appropriately recognized and ameliorated. Interesting how the Princess firstly wielded the stick then offered the carrots thus reinforcing "Loyalty has its own Rewards". Be loyal, accept the unconventional challenges ahead and you will be bestowed the promised rewards or else leave now and take your unyielding conduct with you. The pilots should now have increased faith and trust in Wyatt's unconventional abilities and his loyalty to the Principality which will again be tested in the next battle for victory against the Drazzan.

Over 275 views listed - in 5 minutes. I think we were waiting for this. 😃 Good point about the black ships and the revolt possibly being a private venture - think Dutch East India Company. Double time in grade, new armor, Astor house service, etc. - lots of carrots for the normies. Gamma-1 did not make any friends with his "hide behind the commoners" remark. Clara making it clear things were different was essential. "We see the code more as guidelines." (Pirates of the Caribbean) Ishtonel came off as a total idiot. House Firentis losing to pirates for 30 years is now completely comprehensible. Suggested punishment - assign Wyatt to Jincho unless involved in operations.🤣 Now, what do Jincho and Wyatt cook up for Ishtonel? And what, perhaps, do they find out? Jincho as an intel asset is just getting started. Figuring out how Anderson was assassinated should be in there at some point. I was slightly disappointed by the talk to the pilots. Redford did talk about their odds in the engagement and how Wyatt saved their butts, but he did not mention the rest of it - how they were not able to be reinforced and so on, so the mission and potentially everybody's life depended on the wing surviving as an effective fighting force. A minor point, but still. Redford did well enough. Speaking of recognizing reality, Clara's comment to Redford about "run if you need to" is a good call. Cynthia's rectitude is understandable, but I like Jincho's names for Clara and Cynthia. "Pretty Eyes" and "Blue Ghost" are descriptive but complimentary. It could be a whole lot worse.

Blue Bloods coddled, the “punishment” while very serious to them just so happens to mean absolutely nothing to Wyatt. Many came around during the meeting and another flight or two will cement Wyatt’s Wedge into a historic squadron. The next chapter, probably two with all the action coming are going to be incredible.

Anyone get the feeling that this interference in the coronation from an outside entity is due to a noticed willingness in the Prince, and his siblings, to go against standard Principality doctrine. The rank andvancement of a commoner, his and Clara's disagreement with how nobles and commoners should interact. What if Cornelius' insistence that the Prince is unsuitable to lead the Principality is born in the abhorrence at the thought of the norm being challenged. This may also explain why the council of nobles delayed the prince's ascension for so long. A less stagnant Principality could be seen as a threat to this outside entity and plans were put in action to keep the status quo, as it were.

This has been my working theory too. The Prince and Princess Clara have repeatedly demonstrated they are unusually willing to put competence and pragmatism over tradition and noble entitlement. It sounded like the Prince’s policies have aimed to move the Principality out of its stagnation by promoting peace, economic growth, and technological advancement. My read is that the Prince’s penchant for favoring skill over noble rank likely played a role in Frederick Anderson’s betrayal-clearly the Prince’s policies are ruffling feathers. I would not be surprised if the Prince’s policies pose a challenge to both the nobility and to the foreign power pulling strings behind the curtain who benefit from the status quo. Whatever foreign actor is backing the Duke seems to want the Principality to stay weak, but intact. While he is in general a rational man, Duke Draymore has been willing to prioritize loyalty over competence, so he may represent the more traditional approach. Perhaps more importantly, he seems willing to act in the interests of his (ominously threatening) foreign “benefactor”.

Gamma-1 wedge leader talking about what he would have done differently from Wyatt: "I would have also used the commoner pilots as a screen to delay as many enemies as possible, sir." I betcha every commoner pilot in the room picked up on this. This statement alone should be grounds to bust this 'leader' down to private and take away his pilot status. This 'leader' better hope his commoner pilots haven't grown a backbone else he may not come back from the next battle: Died as a result of a friendly fire *accident*.

He was a manager I was unfortunate enough to get assigned to work under and he made it very clear he was better than anyone else in the room. Didn't work out well for building trust and teamwork in the workplace. I was not upset when the day came I gave him my notice.

I’m certain they’re gonna pop into the system, see the huge mass of defeated Drazzan, flip their shit at the overwhelming victory that Clara won in a single ship and nope out of there with their tails behind their legs not before withstanding a few casualties. I wish I had net been censored last chapter before I could reply to a comment about the UR Diviners (KZbin seems to hate me after a few comments and refuses to let me post/reply after a bit. So, sorry Carsparks1980, I wasn't ignoring you. I had posted a reply 3 times before I gave up.) I really didn't think they were the culprits for the reasons listed in this vid alongside a couple other reasons. Having said that, I'm genuinely unsure who the hidden aggressor is if not the Erebians. I do not have, or at least do not recall enough intel to postulate any other major group. A private group is possible I suppose. But this seems like a rather large operation for something/someone not receiving state funding. As for Wyatt. I am exceedingly pleased to see the stance Redford and Clara took on the great matter. While I think Clara may have been just a touch over the top with her declaration. I can't actually say I have a problem with it in any real way. And it does seem to fit her character. So all in all, great chapter again!

@@randallmountjoy707 That's a pretty decent point. Bravo. 👏🙂However, I would counter that by the fact the author has said most of the governments are monarchies/authoritarian regimes. And those types of governments would never let a private person to gain that kind of power. It's simply too dangerous. Having said that, I certainly cannot discount the fact that there might be one or two nations semi close that would allow such a thing. It might even be a criminal organization with fingers in every pie able to pull it off. The chapter did allude to the current events being good for business. But the UR Diviners are isolationists. Redford seems rather adamant it wouldn't be the Ykanti. The Zarma Compact is a possibility, but chapter 26 says they are too far away to really matter. I believe they said Albion was a non starter as well as the ....Imperium? EDIT: (Yes Imperium, Jincho says the black ship designs would make them weep. So not them.) If not the Erebians, then it would have to be a human nation within the pax humanitus. Which is kind of ironic, all things considered with the Drazzen. So yeah, my guess will remain the Erebians (maybe with a surprising increase in tech level, possibly from an unknown discrovery?), or possibly a nation with motives still unknown, or a random trillionaire with more money than sense. But we shall see. 😁 That's the fun of debates. None of us can really be certain until it's been written. lol

Doesn't mean they have not involved themselves by other means, but I still don't think they are the source. As for too big to be fully private - think Blackrock. Ten trillion dollars in assets that we know about. Now scale that up to an interstellar nation. One question I have is, are the Drazzan using Jincho's navigation trick tp move some assets, like the cattle ship? The Jintrax ships used lanes and were thus detected, but at least some elements of the Drazzan fleet in Hastrum do not conform.
