If you like the RX-78, the MG 2.0 is amazing. Beautiful armor and true to the design of the original. The inner frame is up there with the Zaku II MG 2.0. On the other hand The Origin manga is insanely good. Possibly the single best Gundam piece of fiction ever made. Yasuhiko is an incredible watercolor artist and panelist. If they were more available, I would collect posters of Yasuhiko's watercolor art (although I did manage to find a beautiful one at a convention). They actually made a special edition of The Origin Zaku II and RX-78-2 with Yasuhiko's art as a sticker that you apply to the shield.

Oh yes I need Origin MG for 100%. MG 2.0 is very hard to get in my area unfortunately. I’m excited for RG 2.0 as it looks like PGU in 1/144. But for me ultimate model kit of RX78 is Beyond Global. Perfect shape, simple yet perfect design, great color tone and most of all, thing that I love the most: INSANE pose-ability. 1/100 of it is my wet dream. If it comes to art, I’m a drawing person myself and watercolor is the hardest thing ever. To achieve this level of details, balance(especially if it comes to outlines), color pallet like Yasuhiko - for me pure genius and I respect him for that truly. As much as I love trad manga raw style this one is outstanding. I would love to see Gundam with the Kentaro Miura artsyle. Just imagine that. If you like Berserk of course. Origin manga in BW also looks cool as watercolor gives it additional layers and dimension like no other. It’s just super cool. Great that you appreciate this kind of art!

I have this one but not the RG, but besides the ultra surface details of RG, this one can sit on top of it.

This one is truly top notch. I think that we will see RG of “The Origin” in the future. This and PGU are my favs RX782 designs.

How do you go about fixing those top parts of the hands that keep popping off? I just finished building this kit, and these hands are a nightmare for me.

I will use little piece of modeling putty. Right weapon hand top part is a joke :)

It’s a great kit. My personal opinion is that it’s a little too saturated and I don’t like the box vents. Everything else is top notch and a great ‘equipment kit’. I prefer the RG aesthetics and details (basically the old statue or 3.0 design - huge downsides however). Beyond Global wins a smidge on articulation and has slightly higher quality (highly desaturated, bare bones equipment). G40 technically has better posability but it’s a bad kit (expensive, unstable, fragile, comes apart, looks like a toy). As an overall kit the Origin version is an easy recommend. My favourite RX-78-2 is the anime accurate 2.0 Master Grade version. There are ither HG kits like the one that also comes with a zaku II but I haven’t looked much into them. Might have their own charms and advantages. Initially I thought I’d never get an OG gundam kit, but they’re actually some of the most interesting designs and Bandai always puts a lot of effort into them. Even if I don’t like the G40 it’s at least its own thing entirely. They took a chance on the designer and I’m okay with having bought the kit despite it all.

Beyond Global can do some serious poses. I’m in love with the capabilities. Design wise I think it will be my all time fav Granddaddy. Wish for 1/100 of it in future with all the crazy posing gimmicks.

Wow. For me, the Origin HG line is the best of them all, even Witch ones are not that cool.
