If i recall correctly, it actually didn't join the torrington base assault. Instead, it act as decoy in Dakar while garancieres tried to enter the atmosphere

I used to think the Juaggu was rediculous, but it's really grown on me over the years. And of course, recently I've been playing it in GBO2, and I absolutely love the way it handles. I'm planning on making a kitbash that uses the Juaggu's main body in combination with Acguy and possibly Gogg parts; its fictional backstory would be that it's a pre-production development mule that was used to test systems for the production Juaggu. It had problems with thermal buildup, which led to the Juaggu's forced-air "trunk," and it was decided that it needed heavier projectile weapons than a pair of Acguy missile arms, leading to the installation of the new 3-barrel rocket launchers. Nevertheless, the Juaggu Test Type saw combat when it participated in a breakout operation from California Base at the end of the One Year War, fighting a pitched underwater rear guard action against a squad of Aqua GMs to cover the escape of elements of the Zeon submarine force. It is unknown if the machine survived the engagement, however all of the Aqua GMs were destroyed, and no wreckage of the Juaggu Test Type has ever been positively identified.

It's an exhaust vent as said but it being so long is to avoid getting the heat in the way of the camera. It otherwise gets so hot because of the reactor and weapons.
