Really love watching this series because it educates on the mistakes that are common in these shows. Started with your commentary on Restored, and would love to see more show examples too of competent restorations!

We really enjoyed doing these reviews; however, they’re likely not making their way back as a KZbin series. With Old Home Rescue and our new franchise, Preservan, there’s a lot to do around here.

Thank you SO MUCH for reviewing this episode of Good Bones. This old home was gorgeous---like you said, all the moldings, windows, intricate plasterwork, etc. I stopped watching Good Bones after this episode. I'm surprised you didn't more ballistic.

I could not stop watching. When I started the video, I hoped I knew where you were going, and indeed you went there. I love the content. What you have done is demonstrate the truth of what is actually happening. I haven't seen anyone else do this, and you did it very well. My vote is to really lean into this idea. This is something that I can share every time. Love you Ty and thank you for this content.

What do you think about the destruction of the plaster detail on the walls in the living room?
@OldHomeRescue3 жыл бұрын
I can not stand it. They destroyed that home! It made we sick to watch them gut and gentrify that family's home.
@TanishaNJones3 жыл бұрын
@@OldHomeRescue I agree. I really appreciate you pointing out the multiple stained/leaded glass windows and the palladian window that went vamoose! The destruction was overwhelmingly nauseating. Check out when they rehab Mina's rental unit

The problem is that the budget did not encompass the cost of restoration! That being said I agree with you.

Budget is important, however I do believe that an attempt to rehabilitate the character of the home would have only a small impact on the overall cost, with a huge ROI. -Ty

I grew up in an old home and this made me so angry. When we sold it, it went to a flipper who destroyed the inside. (We couldn't be picky on buyers at the time because we had urgent need to move where we are now ASAP.) But, my gosh ...the original hardwood floors gone, the wainscoting, the window frames complete with gorgeous elegant detail, gone, gone, gone. It's all white, all "open". And it's hideous. There's something to be said for having walls.

Thank you! Glad someone else recognizes that Good Bones is one of the worst shows for people that love old houses and the features you can find in them. When those ladies get a hold of a house, it's all downhill from there. Sad.

This is the Good Bones episode that really made me angry. I couldn't believe everything ended up in a dumpster. So sad. They obviously don't know anything about restoring houses. There was a show called Rehab Addict that did a decent job of restoring old houses but I think it's off the air now.
@carriedockery53474 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand why “restorers” go crazy with demo. You demo something that must be torn down like a burn-out or completely rotted structure. Restoration should be a delicate process that’s handled with careful consideration, not an event for your most destructive, careless employees to see who is better at breaking stuff. And this is why I won’t watch HGTV, I end up yelling at the tv for an hour and scaring the hell out of my dogs. 😆 Loved your video. Keep them coming!

I was excited when I initially heard about this show because it is based in Indy, where I live. I only watched two episodes and realized it wasn't for the lover of old homes. These women are only concerned about making money not the craftsmanship or history of older homes. I hope they get cancelled.

I dont think they restore but save a structure from complete demolition. To them the bones are good so they rebuild. I have seen them restore in areas that demand it by the historical mandate, other words if they can they do their own vision of the property.
@daisyvinas82674 жыл бұрын
Good Bones is not really a restoration expert. Mina likes to throw everything vintage and uses mostly builder grade materials and her kitchen designs are all white on white on white. I've seen one episode where she got rid of the old tiles and the millwork surrounding the fireplace and replaced with contemporary tiles and drywalled around fireplace. Needless to say, I stopped watching Good Bones.
@OldHomeRescue4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, however she claims to “restore” in the intro. I wonder what she thinks restoration is?
@daisyvinas82674 жыл бұрын
@@OldHomeRescue, I know right? The show is misleading. I think they're more on revitalizing the neighborhood but they're not really concern about restoring any house they're working on to its original glory. They don't even keep the interior doors, tubs, or vintage sinks. It really aggravated when I used to watch the show.
