HH Factory Tour

Hi everybody, and welcome back to Sketch To Sea. Get ready for a tour of the factory where our yacht is being built!
If you have been following us on Instagram and Facebook then you already know that we have finally made it to China. This is the first time that we have physically seen our project since we started building in 2018! We are excited to be here and we want you to get to know the boat right along with us. We have lots more to come so stay tuned and I hope you enjoy this tour of the very impressive HH Shipyard.

Thank you for the tour. HH are my favorite catamarans, especially the new 52. Amazing to know you're the new owner of the 88. I believe we've seen in under construction in various videos for a few years now. Congrats!

Thanks so much for this - a hugely impressive operation with, did you say, 23 boats under construction? Wow... incredible. Your knowledge of the factory is equally impressive - and completely fascinating! Not sure you could do that unsupervised and un-helmeted in the UK, but sadly, we don't have anything to compare as far as I'm aware. Apparently as of May 2, 2024 just for the HH44 series alone they have 40 orders. Must be a lot of blue water sailors who have watched the Wynns HH factory tours and interviews with engineering, management and the meticulous skilled artisans who constructed their carbon fiber hybrid HH44OC. There there is Sean's unique HH88. An absolute work of art IMHO. @@sketchtosea3750

6:36 "sport cruising" is the standard HH one with daggerboards. The keel ones are "Ocean cruising".

Actually I have a question: Are the hull parts cured/post-cured? Because I didn't see large enough ovens for them, and without curing, epoxy's glass transition temperature would probably be too low for hot climates.

Hello, and thank you for the question. Yes, the hulls are post cured. You are correct, they do not have an oven large enough for the structure of our vessel. They do make temporary enclosures and install a whole bunch of thermal sensors in order to ensure that the curing times and temps are met.

Great tour Sean. I,m available for a delivery any time? It would be interesting to tour various HH projects and compare especially the 88? How much of the 88 is carbon?

Thank you for your comment. 100% of the structure, bulkheads and the skin are made from Carbon. The only items that are not 100% carbon are some of the partition walls in the interior and some of the doors. With regards to the non structural partition walls, there was no weight saving by going with carbon. With the veneers/woodwork, it is all veneer foam sandwich, and again, non-structural.

Hello, thank you for the comment. Yes I am currently piecing together a pre-launch walkthrough, and hopefully that will be out next week. Then I will do a complete walkthrough once the boat is in the water.
