Plarium knew they were about to nerf Trunda,and kept putting her on the 10x and on the prysm shards to rob players,if we are smart we’ll not giving them more money,or else its our fold they keep doing it!

Does a head only come back after you destroy a decapitated head’s health bar? Or do it still have a turn meter and come back regardless if you kill decapitated the head or not?

Saph. You and the HH team should add a toggle button in the optimiser for pre and post hydra buff team searches. We will never see what teams people are having success with without that option and the team optimiser will become almost useless.

I don't think Trunda changes are nerf for Trunda team. The main nerf is Digestion and Serpent's will. Now Trunda can be consumed after certain turn count. It was not possible before as she was one shot killing every head

Agreed their only chance was to offer him like 1M a year and force him to sign a 10 year non compete, cause with him at Godforge Raid is so doomed. "What a game where the owners and designers actually understand their game??? How crazy!" Yes Godforge won't be perfect we are human, but I am assured it will be corrected expeditiously with Saph on the team.

Picture this - midway through a hydra battle, suffering eats your dps champ. gets a massive digestion bar you'll need to break. then procs his extra turn. Your left with a huge health bar on the most tanky head with 1 turn to free them. They can reduce the turn limit and claim they're saving us time. yet the amount of times people will feel compelled to restart due to a situation similar to that .. means its not shorter, its far longer.

One of my proposals in my previous video was to increase the base consumption duration by 1 turn. So instead of 5 > 2 its 6 > 3 so it always gives you a chance to recover from a suffering consumption.

Completely unnecessary aswell as the shield cap already completely deletes the wixwell yannica/aselyn teams. This is just deleteing a huge amount of team building options and the only real counter most people have to the now giga buffed digestion

Turn count should be 500 max. Give us back our time. Lower the damage requirements to help with this. The devour timer changes is just not necessary.

My issue is that champions that were accessible to all, fusions and Yanika, are the just nerfed. At least Trunda got some buffs to try and make her useful in other areas. They could have at least made bombs, hex, HP burn do more damage or mitigate some of the hydra buffs or kept taunt buff viable for Normal and Hard

I don't think these changes other than being able to use the cheese's which should go away anyways, will affect the lower end players much at all. They likely weren't getting to where the scaling increase to break their champs out will be, they weren't killing heads with the 75% decrease dmg before.

Actually, as a player who didn't get Trunda as a reward for being alive..... I say people who are the elite here. Anyone who signed on in the last two years and is waiting for RNG are the ONLY ones suferring lol I don't have any of the 9 champions that doninate Hydra. So I didn't bother with Hydra Clash yesterday because it was pointless for me and that will still be the case tomorow. Until the RNG gives me what the elites have they will still dominate me. So I have no sympathy about it at all. Its a game. It's problem solving and RNG. Act accordingly.

Saph, the problem is, lots (and LOTS) of clans out there have maybe 2-3 players with the infinite teams that help kill the UNM for the rest of the clan, it's not about '1-keying' the clan boss, it's about getting it down with fewer players. This has the potential to kill clans my dude, no one wants to go back to half rewards just cause they didn't get into a level 20 clan.

Yes exactly. They constantly make the champions you have invested in obsolete like stoneskin, polymorph and UDK did so you have to keep fusing/buying new champs and grinding different gear sets that make your other gear irrelevant. By the time you even get a champion you wanted at first they aren't even very useful like Leorious and Nekrhat for example.

Any effect that allows you to ignore the base mechanic of the encounter is bad. They should have made it not work right away, the same as they did with the enfeeble, but you had to know it was going to go away in some way.

@@hammerhiem75 The easy answer is that devour is the main mechanic that every hydra head is capable of doing, whereas all those other things is something you need to find a solution for each individual head and they change as the fight goes on. Shamael is great when that head is up, but is mostly irrelevant when it's not up.

Wow , now all of our taunt champs are going in the vault….the one place packmaster was any good he’s now useless. Wasted time, money and energy on that fusion I guess. Not to mention the resources it took to build him. Now Wixwell the one champ the community was allowed to vote on is nerfed. Time , money and energy went into that fusion. As well as all the resources to build him. Then time energy and money to build teams around him. The one champ in the game that should never be touched. Hyped him up let us vote on his skills to get us invested in him as a champ. We spend our time and money doing the difficult fusion. We grind to build him and teams around him for months now. While they rake in the money by putting him in boosted summon events and prism pools etc….. just raking in the money. Only to nerf him when he isn’t the one doing the ridiculous damage? It’s no different than a rug pull scam, and if a company did that with a crypto coin it would criminal fraud. Nice con they pulled there on the players who spent their time and money going after wixwell.

🙄 I don't disagree with the sentiments, but there's no need to be hyperbolic about some of the champs. I suggest you look at Saph's video on Packmaster he just made recently. It gave his team a major damage boost for single target nukers. He still has a use if you want him to have one. Plus, he wasn't using a team setup to ignore devour either.

The problem Plarium had is that most of non-spenders were getting too good rewards with the up to 1,2B chests and the special damage teams using fusion champions giving them a chance for Top3. Now they solved that perfectly by buffing hydra while nerfing all those fusion champ special teams.

I do not have Trunda. I do not use the Wixwell shield teams. I still do over 1.2b. I'm f2p. It's perfectly okay to be upset about it, but using hyperbole to justify it is silly. I can almost bet that Thor will be on par with Trunda now. Wixwell is still an absolutely incredible Hydra champ with a 100% provoke A1, dec attack, and intercept that will let you direct Mischief. The only thing these nerfs do is force people to actually do the mechanics. I think they were heavy handed with the digestion thing, but even that doesn't occur til very high turn counts.

@@MrTeaTwoSugars i mean hydra is becoming overall harder now.. the new change with Decapitation for example, when i kill a head too quickly, it will respawn immediately and that is a huge problem. Or the turn limit change.. im doing dmg over time and 500 less turn = less damage. Or the comsumption change.. it will be harder to get back the champ etc etc

I’m willing to wait and see on this. People (Saph included) have made mistakes and assumptions in the past. I don’t run an exploit team and am confident my teams will still get me chests. Hopefully it will lead to HC being more engaging, even if overall scores are lower.

I am one of the 1.2 billion borderlines. All of my teams go to 1500 and I barely clear the 1.2 billion in a week. Back to 2 weeks for the full rewards for a while for me.

im in the same situation. but consdering that we're getting 500 less turns, and heads will respawn when u do a certain amount of dmg to decapitated heads, the digestion bar increases etc., i think we'll most likely go from struggling to get 1.2 bil for the personal chests to struggling to hit 650 for the top clash chest lol

I don't always agree with your takes on things..... but in this one you are 100% correct. From the first reading of these changes, I thought 'why are they punishing the average players, instead of the top players?' Because if all the top players have an 80% reduction in damage, they are still going to collect all the rewards they normally do... it just won't look as impressive. But the average players seeing a noticeable drop in damage and survivability, are going to see drastically different outcomes..... in most cases, not being able to get the same chests they used to. I just don't get he logic. They make things so much more convoluted than it needs to be.

Not really. Trunda will not be the number 1 team. I’ve seen none trunda teams that do 5 To 10 billion damage already and they all have mythical champions in it. The other one is Taras with double yumeko.

4:59 But Saph, join this mechanic with the nerfed turn count, and you run into the Relentless problem, but from the boss side: big hit = head respawn = head taking turns but taking no dmg = unprofitable turns. That exposed neck adjustment is a step too far.

Dunno about trunda saph. Can't have a reliable reset team that would also deal with other hydra mechanics, she might still do good damage but not nearly as often, also setting up and timing the nuke would be still be a nightmare for most players. Also i like how they want to promote champion diverstity but still the only reliable counter to the torment head is shamael. At least before you could nuke the head down before it was a problem Also it is improtant to know if the heads need spawn at same time for one to not have the serpent buff or just need a head with the buff for the new head not having it.

There are players who spend big money to build 3 +4 6star awakened Trundas and 6 Yumekos. You think they are not being punished? And now Plarium wants them to spend another fortune on 3 +4 6star Ieyasu so they can participate in Clash. Sounds pretty rough too 😂

I have to agree.. they’ve made hydra even less accessible for most average players. It’s so champ dependent already that most people can’t even do it. I have a $40,000 account and I’m just now at the point of doing around 280m on nm because I basically don’t have any of the good supports I need for hydra. A lot of my clan struggles to 1 key nm. Krakens will still flourish and the people who were excited to finally 1 key nm recently just got a huge slap in the face.

@@jvhud most of this was spent years ago tbf. I haven’t spent much in the last 3 years. I had also quit the game for a year and half right as hydra was released. I could probably make better teams but I really just don’t enjoy hydra. I only do it so I don’t hinder my clan from receiving rewards.

Hi Saph, theres something you might have missed about taunt. Taunt loops now will require two taunt champs, like Emic and Shyek, because when taunt is up the mark of the hydra is forced to go to the taunt character, when he gets devoured, the next taunt champ will have the next mark, so you have to free the first one and get back to its taunt again (That way Damage Dealers are always safe from devour). But that is just me theorycrafting on this info 14:00 .

Appreciate the in depth analysis. Plarium just doesn't know how to make this game mode fun and engaging. It's fun to bash the heads down - even if it's not Trunda level damage - and to sustain in a fight due to careful use of all the buffs and debuffs required. It's NOT fun to have your run ruined because your champs are eaten without you having any chance of freeing them, because of life barrier, cleanse, extra turn, poison cloud and all the other stuff they are now throwing in there.

Quick summary, so basically they just reduced the large number output of top tier comps to look somewhat realistic and not nerf'ed but obliterated everyone else. Big improvement Plarium.

Good video Saph! I am sitting here with the feeling that Plarium should start doing some kind of beta when it comes to these kinds of changes, because it feels quite clear to me that they do not understand their player base or even their own game modes! They nerfed Wixwell to the ground and kicked him while he was down, but only gave Trunda a slap on the hand. And that's not even mentioning the changes that noone asked for and were completely unnecessary.

Instead of fixating on each individual champ or hydra mechanic, they should have introduced weekly multiplier incentives to bring new comps into the competition. Example: epic poison detonators deal x4 dmg, another week: gaellan pact champs deal half dmg, or using a rare with ally protection all champs will ignore 50% defense. This makes it so existing teams can be viable but you could compete on a new scale when these conditions are met. This allows for new team compositions without breaking things. If something is broken one week, thats okay cause it will change next week.

I am a low spender. These changes hit my very hard. Spent months of resources getting Shy'ek and creating a team around him. Now it is wasted. They need to buff him and other taunt champs since they took away the main reason for taunt. Made it worthless now in the main content it was used for. After they sold us Shy'ek based on his taunt keeping the hydra from eating your champs...this just 3 months ago.

Really interesting as always, now I don't use any "cheese" team and I don't see why I wouldn't be able to reach the required scores for the chests but I'm really curious to see where would the new gap settles between top team, god team even average teams.

I think Plarium thought the Turn Limit changes would make the new devour changes ok considering you get devoured fewer times per fight, but with the new mark and decapitation changes it’s just gonna be impossible to free people past a certain point.

Spot on, Saph. I have made long comments elsewhere so I will be brief. I have basically said the same thing. High end hitters are fine nothing really changes for them, low/mid players and clans will potentially be getting less rewards if they were just getting chests/double chests. As well as it will take them longer to get the progressive chests. This basically lends to increasing the disparity of gear between low/mid and high end/whales.

Seems like changing the scoring system for Hydra Clash would've been so much easier. Top damage person gets say 1500 points. 2nd 1490 3rd 1480. Non-participants 0 Would truly be a Clan vs Clan mode instead of 1 or 2 accounts dominating the other 148 accounts.

My issue is one head will have the buff when it comes up with another heat at the "same time" what's considered "same time", like the exact same time? Which only really happens with the Trunda comps because she kills all the heads at the same time.

The cap on dmg on decapatated heads is the biggest problem, with most debuffs on 3 turn cooldown, killing the decapatated heads quickly means they are gonna be back so fast u won't have your debuffs back for them, especially if u are using 3 turn cooldown provoke for Decay.

By choosing to change the shield rules rather than Wixwell Plarium have opened design space in the same way Saff is recommending for multi-damage abilities. Nerfing Wixwell directly would mean every future champ that increased shield size would have to be assessed against every other ability in the game to avoid a repeat of Wixwell and that complexity increases exponentially as more champions and sets are released. Capping the shield size doesn't nerf non-Hydra content while still preventing a repeat of the same problem on future releases.

Some CC are saying that reducing the turn limit is a good idea, but for players that can't get 7000 attacks, they can't get the high damage in the short period of time. You can get the damage for the top chest but if you are not in the 1,2 or 3rd place you will not have a chance of getting primal shards.

For what you said at the start of the video, I think there's a different side to it: if they just nerf champions instead of changing the specific gamemodes they're broken in, then the champions may stop working in places where they weren't a problem. Basically what you say with Wixwell and clanboss. I'd say that's about equally undesirable as making one gamemode harder for everyone, so it should just be a case by case basis: Trunda and other damage repetition skills are a problem independent of hydra, therefore change those. Infinite Taunt loops are only problematic in Hydra, because they fully turn off the Hydra's core feature, therefore change how Hydra interacts with Taunt. Speaking of Taunt, I agree that this change probably went too far. What I would've preferred would've been something like this: "If at least one champion has a taunt buff, but another without a taunt buff has the Mark of the Hydra, then instead of devouring the marked champion, the Mark of the Hydra will be removed and placed on a champion with a Taunt Buff." You could reliably use taunt champions to not allow any other champion to be devoured, without just turning the feature off entirely, because now the taunt champion would get devoured somewhat regularly. (This change would mean that two taunt champions or one well-played Ambassador Lethelin could still avoid devouring entirely, but that would require a lot more work and precise timing than an infinite taunt loop does currently). Thirdly, to what you say about infinite shields and possible future clan bosses: Every single boss after the first doom tower rotation, with the sole exception of the iron twins, has had some kind of ignore shield mechanics. They next clan boss would have had that with or without Wixwell anyway. Also, I pray to god, hades, and all that is sacred that the next clan boss will not be a long-form battle.

You've just said quantitatively what I was saying in Discord qualitatively. Feels punitive toward average and aspiring to be above average players. I have little interest in rebuilding Hydra teams, and less resources to do so after Asguard stuff, to even attempt to do so. Some rotations I can barely make 1-key in normal, hard and brutal (haven't unlocked NM). I fear that this will result in needing 2-keys in either brutal or hard, greatly reducing my Hydra clash score.

Do you think these changes could lead to a strategy for top level nuker damage teams where they intentionally nuke all 4 decapitated heads at once and, due to the combined Decapitation/Serpent's Will changes, that's 4 simultaneous respawns, 3 of which don't have any protection from Serpent's Will.

I think that's exactly what Plarium wanted. A more difficult fight for everyone. They attacked every possible angle of assault to take the best strategies down. I personally thought this was all a ploy to nerf Wix in CB. I was surprised that they actually do want Hydra to be something more than what it has been.

Like you said, These changes "Hurts the average player" and does nothing to the Krakens. But then again, every time they do these champ reworks. It's always the same thing. Doesn't affect the Krakens, just the "Average Player". And it's becoming more and more evident that Plarium will always put those that pay the most while punishing those that can't.

All they had to do was limit the mount of points you could gain in Hydra Clash to 10 times the max chest. None of the teams would have died, and us lowly mortals who struggle with Hydra wouldn't be forced to do a lower difficulty than we had been. When inevitable ties happen, the tiebreaker then becomes full points.

Perfectly broken down in fine detail, thanks Saph. However I thought the community champion nerf was disgusting even worse was the taunt nerf after they stated that, taunt was working as intended. All the time and effort doing these fusions for basically nothing, half my clan are on the verge of quitting the game right now because of this.

"no diversity in teams" is how these raid bosses are supposed to work to be honest. There should be the best teams for it and that's what we focus on. By trying to make it "diversity" you give us nothing to focus on and no true way forward to advance a persons account to getting the best rewards. What this does is just make the game worse for everyone and the top 1% won't even notice. You can't keep changing the Chase hero's, that just makes people leave. Instead of changing Hydra, they should have just done this stuff to the third clan boss they will release. They didn't need to change Hydra at all. What they are doing here makes no sense.

Max hp champs basically got a buff with the new decapitated health bar. They'll be doing double the normal damage while all the other champs will still be doing the regular amount. Change is good for them, bad for all the other champs.

I just build my hydra hard team from normal average champions. I made it to 1000~ turn count and 100m dmg and I was happy to contribute my first 200m clash points to my clan. Now, I probably will just do the minimum dmg req for normal and hard chests.

So im in a semi casual clan. We just recently got to the point where we are killing brutal hydra... there's 3 or 4 of us that are kind of barely making it happen. You're right when you say that these changes are massively going to affect the average player, not the kraken, who are the ones breaking the game in the first place.

So essentially, I did the Wixwell fusion, a community developed champ, for no reason at all since what he did really well, he no longer does. Why would I build another Clan Boss team if the Myth-Fu team i currently use does the same,if not more, damage. I mean the Mark of the Hydra already killed Wixwell, the shield growth stuff seems like piling on, especially to FTP and Low Spender accounts. Mostly to newer players trying to catch up with end game. No one was clamoring for changes when the Brogni team was invented.

Saph: Its not poor design. Its good design. Problem with current hydra is that only new players play the mechanis (need provoke, block buffs, decrease attack atd) Current meta ignores pretty much all hydra mechanics. And they did force those players to notice them. Maybe changes are not strong enough, but that is what they want. They need you to think abount head pf decay. They want you to fear the head of blight. They want you to have all the solutions in your team and in the end it makes competition fair.

Glad at least someone is being logical about these changes. It doesn't touch the whales or krakens.. it destroys f2p and low spenders. Those of us who clawed and scratched our way to do the 650M total for top weekly chest are now hosed over bad.

Overkill - That was my first question when I saw their video, I bet it works as if you decapitate the head with 1HP now, you still get full damage counted. Taunt - useless buff now, taunt teams were not OP, I don't understand the change Trunda, Wixvel - don't have them New tactics - kill head, don't touch the neck for two turns (slightly get it close to zero) and than your main dps hit it with full strenght. If overkill works, you should do 4xdmg of head initial health and you don't give more turns to hydra. Devouring - they gone too far, I don't like the change. I suppose my NM team (cardiel, venus, cupidus, tuhanarak, krisk, turvold), which does 1,1 B now will still do around 200-300 mil., which is enough for top chest. (I do around 700 mil in turn 1000).
