Hi-Fi RUSH Review - Just What Xbox Needed

$30 release. Complete at launch. Looks and runs beautifully on all platforms. Well animated. Great combat. Endearing characters and writing. Great boss fights. Great post game complete with a cosmetics shop in 2023 that doesn't ask for real money. This is a definite GOTY contender for me regardless of the goliaths on the horizon.

Not even close lol. These are my types of games but this is a 7 out of 10 tops. I would maybe give it an 8 out of 10 if it was $20 brand new. And I didn't even pay for it. Also, in what dimension is opening up character customization only after you beat a game a good call lol? Especially when the game is this short. It's the perfect Nintendo switch game that isn't a Nintendo switch game.

I strongly disagree. I for one don't want overpriced indie games. I want more AAA exclusives. I know the 9/10 score gives you the impression that this game is a big release, it's not. It took me a day and a half to beat and there's a reason it was released the same day it was announced. Even a year of hype would have done this game no favors.

@@pwd1134 look how forespoken ,Marvel Avengers, Kh3,BattleField 2042 etc. turned out. Sure AAA Exclusives are great but there are a some Major problems with them: 1. Most of them dont even come out fully finished these days 2. They either turn out so good it could win GOTY or Just embarassingly flop 3. They mostly rely on the story to carry the game rather than the gameplay which I dont mind but its just somethin that kind of just makes it feel kind of tedious in some games ( Not GOW Ragnarok). 4. AAA Companies (Not all of em) are evil Nowadays. Exhibit A Blizzard. Plus AA Games are like 10 times better than AAA cuz of how innovative,creative and just focus on gameplay rather than add more cutscenes (not GOW Ragnarok). Its youre opinion, So theres no way i can change that but youve gotta admit That AA games have been getting better and better compared to some AAA games (not elden ring nor GOW Ragnarok).

idk but this gives me early 2000s 2010s cartoonnetwork action cartoons vibe like generator rex or ben 10. also so refreshing to get such a bright and interesting game premise. its not another souls-deep brown nature tone medieval goth-like. its like the last 8 years is just souls-borne ring reskinned(in my humble opinion). Bring back the 90s-2010s style experimental flashy game azz video games. Bring back games like jet set radio or sunset overdrive. games are getting too "realistic" and need to liven up a bit.

Totally agree with you that the souls genre has been completely beaten to death. However, this game is not an example of what AAA games used to be. This is a very short, $30 indie game. And in all honesty, I would play any souls game or even a lot of souls clones over this game unfortunately.

I'm merely taken back by how refreshing this game was over all. remember during the 2010s where everything was a gritty saving private ryan color wheel fps where they wanted it to be so real that they think the tutorial can substitute a drill instructor (exaggerating of course). I'm just hoping that this new fresh expression gets taken up by the AAA studios compared to what they would normally steal and drive into the ground (battle royale).

I'm loving the game, its definitely the best new IP I've played since Sunset Overdrive. The colors, the characters & humor work well, the gameplay and animations feels like I'm playing a big budget Disney anime cartoon. My wife & youngest son even sit and just watch me play, she told me let her know when I play so she can watch (she doesn't play games at all). Everything is just so well done with the rhythm in mind, every aspect from graphics to level design is very polished, not one bug or hiccup ever. I can't remember the last time I played any game since like Tetris that runs buttery smooth so effortlessly. OK so if I had to really dig for a flaw I would say that the platforming & timed button sequences can be a little annoying (sometimes it takes me awhile to get 'em right) but other than that this game is very close to perfect. I know its early but I would say this could very well be the GOTY...its that good.

The game is $30 brand new. A month of game pass ultimate is $15. This game, even at a sloth pace, would take you no more than 3 days to beat. Don't understand the issue lol. You could literally beat this game and probably at least another game in one month for $15. Also, this is only an exclusive by default. It was in development before the acquisition and is in no way a system seller. It's a $30 indie game. There's a reason it was released the same day was announced.
