Fred Flintstone as Hi-Fye. Duke Mitchell is doing the singing, though Alan Reed was Fred's speaking voice. The musicians included guys from Count Basie's Orchestra. www.ModCollectibles.com

i know it's always popular to say "things in the past were better than now hurp derp" But seriously, if you're saying cartoons in the last 5-10 years, even the last 2 years, are bad, then you're 1005 not actually watching any of these new cartoons. Gravity Falls, Adventure time, Rick and Morty, Avatar. There's at least 20-30 from the early 2000's I could name that were great. The Flintstones is a classic, yes, but let's not pretend it was the peak of cartoons and everything is so terrible now. I actually sat down and watched an episode of some random cartoon called the Loud Family and it was actually pretty funny. I saw previews and rolled my eyes, but after actually watching it, it was actually okay. I grew up in the 90's and love those cartoons more than anything, but even I can admit those were not the best of the best (with the exception of Rugrats and Ed Edd n Eddy of course). But every decade has it's top tier cartoons. But the 2000's and 2010's have had way more top tier cartoons than any previous decades in history. Things like the Flintstones, Scooby Doo, the Jetsons, they're the few cartoons that were great in those eras but they were surrounded by a ton of crappy cartoons that no one remembers or talks about. When you think about cartoons of the past, you only think about the classic hits and compare that with all the cartoons of today. if compared everything of the past with everything of today, you'll see a dramatic improvement. There's over-saturation, yes, but a lot of it is great quality.

@@cyberdragonessmaster Yeah, maybe I took this cartoon show too seriously, even as a kid. But Wilma was never likeable. She whined, nagged and complained an awful lot and spent most of her time telling her husband what was wrong with him. At least in the sitcom that this was based on, The Honeymooners, Alice Kramden saw the good in Ralph and only warned him when he was about to make a fool of himself. Other than that, she had his back. Wilma wanted a mink coat...as if she had someplace to wear it?

Everyone on this recording including Duke Mitchell is totally stepping on it, tight as tight can be, energy and electricity through the roof, a master session, probably all in a day's work for these guys who lived in or near Hollywood in the 50s and 60s who did sessions for TV and movies. (Hollyrock!) You can listen to this hundreds of times and still see, in your mind, a bunch of guys and a singer in one room recording this, probably in a just a few takes. And getting paid, going home and on to the next session. And here we are enjoying it 64 years later! YABBA DABBA DOO

The premise was: Fred decides to spend the day with Wilma, Barney and Betty at the amusement park in spite of all being adults. Fred discovers a booth at the amusement park to make a vinyl record of your voice. At first Fred can't think of what to say, but then spontaneously starts singing this song. Just as he is finished Wilma drags him out of the recording booth. Then two talent scouts find the record Fred left in the recording booth and track down the person.

Many sources say Henry Corden is doing the singing....but upon watching a Duke Mitchell KZbin video, it's definitely either him or an impressionist (Corden?). Of course, Corden took over Alan Reed's role after Reed's death in 1977, but it may also be Corden did the "Saints Go Marching In' episode, and Mitchell did this one.

Do teenagers today know what "hi-fi" means? Back in the sixties there was a motel near me where the roadside sign listed "HI-FI" as one of the amenities in each room. Later they covered the word HI-FI with duct tape. In the eighties they removed the duct tape and altered the letters in HI-FI to say HBO. In 2010, they once again changed the letters on the sign to say "WI-FI".
