I'm primarily a metal drummer, but I try to adapt what Bruce Lee used to say not verbatim. Your way should be have no way. Be like water. You can pour water into a cup it becomes the cup. You can put water into a bowl & it becomes the bowl. Water can crash. It can go around & over rocks. It can carry or move any size & weight. It can be deep & it can be shallow. It can take life & sustain life. Be like water my friend. For me it means I need to learn every style & technique. Learn from all types of drummers, so this is my first exposure to this drummer & he's an amazing drummer. I hope he never loses sight of how fortunate he is to have a carreer playing. I consider myself lucky to have a band going on 2 decades releasing albums, touring & meeting some of my influences. Unfortunately not able to do it full-time because the other guys will not take that step forward. Must be nice though.
